About this property
Scandinavian Aurora Villa
Welcome to your unique Alaskan escape! This stunning, architect-designed 3-story home offers an unforgettable Fairbanks experience, blending original 1979 Scandinavian contemporary style with modern comforts. Built with the Northern Lights in mind, the house features incredible panoramic windows – including a signature large circular window – perfect for watching the aurora dance across the night sky from the warmth and comfort of the living room.
Immerse yourself in the unique architecture, relax while spinning some vinyl on the record player, or mix a drink at the dedicated bar area. The fully equipped kitchen makes meals a breeze, and the cozy office nook provides space if you need to connect. Step outside onto the expansive wrap-around deck to breathe in the fresh Alaskan air, enjoy the sweeping wilderness views, or gather around the fire pit table under the stars (or the midnight sun!). After a day of exploring or a night of aurora gazing, unwind in the private, authentic Finnish sauna – a true Nordic treat.
While feeling wonderfully secluded, you're also conveniently located near unique Fairbanks attractions. Experience the magic of walking with reindeer through the boreal forest at the nearby Running Reindeer Ranch, or hit the slopes during winter at Moose Mountain Ski and Snowboard Resort, just a short drive away.
The main house features 2 comfortable bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms spread across its three levels. Need more space? The property includes a charming, detached heated bunkhouse – a studio setup with two sturdy bunk beds (queen below, twin XL above), perfect for extra family members or friends.
!! PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: !!
Bunkhouse Bathroom Access: The detached bunkhouse does NOT have its own bathroom. Guests staying in the bunkhouse will need to go outside and walk a short distance to the main house to use a shared bathroom located on the second floor of the main house. This includes nighttime use, which might involve a chilly dash in winter!
Multi-Level Home & Stairs: The main house is a 3-story building. Accessing bedrooms, bathrooms, and living areas requires navigating multiple staircases. This may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations or families with very young children who are not yet proficient with stairs.
Winter Access (Oct-Apr) - 4WD/AWD MANDATORY: Our secluded location offers incredible privacy and views but requires preparedness in winter. The access road is maintained but can be snowy and/or icy. For your safety and to ensure you can reach the property, a vehicle with 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) or All-Wheel Drive (AWD) is absolutely MANDATORY during these months. No exceptions can be made, as tow services can be limited and expensive.
This retreat is perfect for adventurers, aurora chasers, and anyone seeking a peaceful, inspiring getaway surrounded by Alaskan beauty, with unique local experiences close by. We look forward to hosting you!
Happy Floors: Please leave the outdoor shoes at the door to protect our hardwood.
Water Wise: Our home relies on a water tank – your help conserving water is much appreciated!
Plumbing Care: Solid kitchen scraps go in the trash, not down the drain, to keep things flowing smoothly.
I hope you enjoy your stay at our house!
