About this property

The Farmhouse - Clean, comfortable, and affordable!

The Farmhouse was originally located on a Fairbanks’ homestead. This home is comfortable, charming, and just a bit quirky. It features subtle Alaskan decor, with billowy down comforters and pillows on each bed. Right off the Trainor Gate entrance to Ft. Wainwright and just a few blocks away from the shopping center, the Farmhouse is the perfect space for visiting family or as a landing pad for those wanting to explore Fairbanks.

The space
Lots of bedrooms (not to mention three full bathrooms!) make this house a great choice for large groups. The Farmhouse grew over time, so the scale of the kitchen and dining area does not match the size of the house, but that’s perfect for travelers who have places to go and things to see! It has three levels; the living room, kitchen/dining, a bathroom and bedroom are on the main level. The bedroom on the main level functions as an office furnished with a desk and couch, but the couch can be folded down into a full/queen bed if you request it. Two bedrooms and one bath are upstairs, with three bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry in the basement. Enjoy the spacious yard during the summer and fall, with a bbq grill, outdoor seating, and a fire pit.

Guest access
Guests will have the entire house, as well as fenced-in yard all to themselves. The garage is not available for guest use and will be locked. There is space for about 4 vehicles in the driveway.

Other things to note
A non-toxic home with healthy air is important to us. We have house plants and an air purifier to help with this. We also have a diffuser with essential oils. Towels and bedding are washed with fragrance-free detergent and vinegar for a softener; no dryer sheets are used, only wool cotton dryer balls. Oxi-clean is used for whitening.

We know some people have sensitivities. Some things to note about our house are these:
Sheets are 100% cotton.
All of the beds have down comforters and down pillows.
There is no carpet in our home, except on the stairs.
Bleach products will be used in bathrooms, as a necessity. Natural non-toxic products are used everywhere else.

If you have allergy concerns, please message us with any questions or special requests.

Also, please note that there is a train track across the street. A coal train passes a few times a day carrying coal to Ft. Wainwright. It is not obnoxious, and does not run on the weekend, but still worth noting.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Host profile image
Fairbanks has been my home since 2005. I have raised five Alaskan kids and I am passionate about living here! I get a special thrill out of welcoming guests who come to see God's amazing display of lights in the Aurora Borealis.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house after our family's home suffered a fire and needed extensive repair. The comforting calm we experienced while we lived in the Farmhouse led me to believe we could make it a "home away from home" for travelers.

What makes this property unique

The Farmhouse is budget-friendly option for guests who require cleanliness and spotless fragrance-free bedding, but don't need luxury or fancy add-ons.
