Without coming off too harsh or unfair this is definitely a “get what you pay for accommodation”. I was in town for work and excited to find a reasonably priced space with good ratings and walking distance to the conference. Shame on me for not verifying the ratings. However, upon our late arrival we could not enter the building because the entrance keypad was broken. The host did respond to my message promptly, letting us know about an emergency lockbox. Once in the building we were welcomed with a blanket of damp air and loud mechanical noise. One can only assume that due to the age of the building and lack of AC the dehumidifier and industrial fan sharing the hall with the room entrance door were meant to help eliminate the dampness. Neither were helping. Luckily the steel room door does a decent job of blocking out a good bit of the machinery noise. Ear plugs are provided, but no mention of loud noise in the vicinity was communicated prior to our arrival. The room itself was clean. The pillows bountiful and comfortable. Im guessing from water damage, the bathroom ceiling was peeling and flaking into the shower which also had ant roaming throughout. The kitchen water pressure is lacking but the shower pressure is decent. Again, no AC and dusty heating element above the bed was a bit alarming. The space was good enough and the host is prompt with communication.

Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad to hear communication was prompt, the room was clean, and that you found the bedding comfortable, especially given your work trip and proximity needs. We’re sorry to hear that several aspects of your arrival and stay did not meet expectations. We understand how important smooth access is, and we appreciate you noting that the lockbox solution was provided quickly once the issue was identified. We’ve also reinforced our entry procedures to help prevent similar access disruptions in the future. Regarding environmental conditions and building systems, this is an older property and certain mechanical equipment is used to support ventilation and moisture control. That said, we understand your concerns about comfort and noise, and we are continuing to review ways to better communicate these conditions in advance so guests know what to expect. We also take cleanliness and maintenance seriously. The concerns you raised regarding the bathroom ceiling and pest presence have been addressed and escalated for remediation and further inspection. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience, as it helps us continue improving both transparency and overall guest comfort.
