It was gorgeous. We swam and fished in the lake every day. It’s a trek down the staircase to the lake, but once we adapted to it we really enjoyed it. Beautiful cove.
Property was very clean. Private location with friendly neighbors. Nice view of Barren River Lake from back deck.I would rent this property again. Log cabin is decorated with antiques with a nice taste!
Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. A little cottage hidden away in the woods with beautiful views. The sound of nature all around is exactly what we needed. Everything was so clean and exactly the way that it’s pictured. We will definitely come again. Thank you for everything.
Cute cabin in the woods. Far from everyday grind. Kitchen well stocked, clean bathrooms. Comfortable beds. QUIET!!

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
The place is nice and I would rent it again but to maybe shoot a short film. I know it’s not the owners fault but it isn’t lakefront property. It’s a very steep walk down through overgrown grass. The water is super low so it was nowhere near the dock. The fire place didn’t work and that was the whole reason I rented the spot was to use the fireplace. Also didn’t realize it was a fake fireplace in the listing. It’s a good location but you’re in a neighborhood regardless so not super private. Front light kept going off every 45 min. I’m guessing because of a bird but maybe point the light away from the windows.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a detailed review and for choosing our place. We’re glad you still found it nice overall and would consider renting again—that means a lot.
Regarding the lake: you’re right, the water is currently very low. We’ve been in a significant drought and the lake is not at summer pool levels right now, so it’s farther from the dock than usual. We do our best to show true to life pictures to indicate your view.
On the fireplace: it is a functional gas fireplace (not fake/decorative), but it sounds like it had an issue during your stay. We’re sorry that happened, especially since it was a key reason for your booking. As soon as you let us know, we immediately offered to send someone out right away to fix it, but that option was declined. We would have taken care of it promptly if accepted.
The property sits at the very end of the road in the neighborhood, surrounded by woods so you don’t see other houses. It offers good privacy in that sense. We don’t recommend wandering through the woods to the lake—instead, please use the designated path down to the dock
