Suite in Building K at Pono Kai Resort on Kauai's Bike Path, Tennis View Condo

The Pono Kai Resort sits on 12 acres in the quiet town of Kapa`a on the east side of the island of Kaua`i. The Resort is right on the beach, which is perfect for wind surfing, kite surfing or wading and frolicking in the waves. This condo is not ocean view but koi pond or tennis view.

This mini suite condo in building K comes fully equipped with a King size bed in the master bedroom and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room/kitchen area and one full-size bathroom. The unit is completely tiled except for the bedrooms. The fully equipped kitchenette is great for preparing meals and snacks. Flat screen television in the living room and bedroom. Complimentary Wi-Fi connection, each condo with its own router and modem. The bathroom is furnished with starter soap, shampoo and conditioner, along with a hair dryer. There is an iron and ironing board within the unit as well. We manage several condos at Pono Kai and all mini suites are in Building K, floor will vary depending on availability at time of check in.

Pono Kai also has a communal swimming pool, and Jacuzzi, a croquet lawn, bocce ball, cornhole, two putting greens, shuffle board, tennis/pickleball court, basketball court, fire pit, picnic tables, and barbecue grills. The outside amenities are lighted and well maintained to entertain active guests as well as those seeking rest and relaxation. The resort also has a Concierge Desk available for guests to make the most of their stay and book activities while on the Garden Island.

The resort is located in the historic town of Kapaa, Kauai. You can catch the sunrise in the morning over the Pacific Ocean or even see whales during migrating season. The resort is within walking distance of restaurants, boutiques, shopping and grocery stores.

You can rent bicycles within walking distance and we are located within 5 minutes from all water activities; canoeing, kayaking, surfing, etc...

Awesome stay!

Pono Kai was a great stay in Kauai! Great location, clean, large suite, comfortable bedroom, AC, good kitchen amenities, ample free parking, and a perfect jumping off point for our daily adventures! Check in was easy, personal, and our room even got a tidy up and fresh towels after a few days. It was the best of both condo and hotel! Would highly recommend.

Practical but outdated

Staff is very nice and the gardens and tennis courts/Pickle Ball were great. Boardwalk by the sea but océan is too wild to swim. Apartment was confortable but very old furniture and décor.

Perfect location

Loved the location as you are walking distance to main town, a 2 minute walk. Beach same distance. Accommodations were okay. I really wanted a little more ocean view and K building is in front facing the main road so you can hear traffic. I wore earplugs to bed. All staff were great.

Everything is close

Pono Kai is close to everything. You don’t even need to leave the resort if you don’t want to. Plenty of amenities. There was one issue with the wrong name being attached to my reservation, but the property management office handled it quickly. I’d stay here again.

Perfect location for 1st timers in Kapa’a!

Our condo K205 had everything we needed and was true to the description. The Pono Kai was a beautifully landscape complex, offering a variety of activities for everyone. The staff was excellent! We chose this location because this was our 1st time visiting the island and we wanted easy access to explore beaches from the north shore to the south shore. It was also super convenient to stores and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again! Mahalo!

We loved the location and the property. The unit was spacious and the views are incredible. There is no AC, but we really didn’t miss it. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled like urine. The refrigerator was rusty.

Great Place for Family

First of all, pictures online are not the actual room that you receive. All rooms are chosen at the corporate level, you get what they chose for you. Aside, the place has a variety of games/activities for the family to enjoy on the premise. The boardwalk along the beach (note, not a swimmable area for a few miles) gives stunning views to the sunrise. Very centrally located to travel along the island.

Close to Kapaa food and shops

Nice stay round the clock security kept me from trying to smoke cugars on the balcony. Its ok i just walked 100 yards to the mostly vacant beach and watched the surf. Housekeeping came every other day. You can rent snorkeling and beach related items by the office. Good food trucks and restaurants near. Shops where i bought gifts for the family. My unit had a full kitchen and a view of the koapond.

Amazing

Awesome stay. More than enough room for myself and my wife. Comfortable furniture Central AC. Full kitchen. Amazing staff. Even though our room had a garden view from the balcony, we could still see the ocean. Central location made getting ro the north or south side of the island easy. Property is bordered by a walking path that goes along the beaches of the east side of the island for miles. 10/10 would recommend and stay again.

Lots of Options

The grounds at Pono Kai are lovely and very well maintained. The unit we rented was perfect for 2 people, but it would have been too crowded for 4. There are many options for family activities on-site, as well as shopping and restaurants within walking distance. This area is very, very busy with traffic and pedestrians, and the neighborhood is filled with locals going about their daily lives. This is the place for you if you love shopping and being around lots of people.

Family reunion/vacation

The location is awesome, very central to everything. Definitely need a car to be able to explore everything Kauai has to offer. Great shopping and decent restaurants within walking distance. A grocery store and an ABC store are close by. Very close to the airport too. The property is older and is more of a hotel than a resort. Every room does have a kitchen or kitchenette. Some of the the rooms are not updated, but they are clean. Our host, Tammy, was very accommodating and very prompt in replying to our concerns.

The room

I thought the room needed updating. Furniture was definitely old and needed to be updated to something lighter to make the place feel “not so dark and small”. We were in K 103. This is not the room we originally booked, but we’re told the elevator was not working at times so the resort gave us this room.. would not get a lace right in front of the highway again. Heard traffic all the time. But everything was clean .

GREAT LOCATION

We stayed at the Pono Kai resort for a week to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary . It was a great location. The condo was good. Our only complaint was that we did not get the unit we reserved on VRBO. The unit that was listed that I reserved said it had a king bed in the bedroom. We were given a unit with a queen size bed. They would not/could not give us a unit with a king size bed. We were disappointed but made the best of it. Since it was just the two of us it worked out. I hesitate to rent from here again if we come with another couple for fear we won’t get the unit we would reserve. The grounds are beautiful, the pool is nice (small for a resort the size of Pono Kai). It was great that they have an on-site place to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, etc…We would recommend this resort to others.
