Comfortable and Cozy Retreat on the Lake

The photos of this property do not do it justice! The house was more beautiful, comfortable and spacious than it looked in the photos. Our family and close friends hardly left the property since we had snow, sledding, fire place and food in the fun vacation home. I would highly recommend!

Perfect -

Stayed fall 2024 with my sister and dog Butters. The property was larger than we needed, but oh! How fun it was to have the space and freedom. Fireplace and fire pit were perfect, the view from the rooms fantastic, everything we needed. Loved the dock … just perfect for a cup of tea and watching the water … well worth the money. Time well spent.

Family vacation

A time to be with our family and we had a wonderful vacation. The house was spacious and very well equipped and maintained. The only negative was the dock which had a boat moored inside. If a small child had fallen between the boat and the dock it would have been very difficult to rescue them as well as difficult for small children who can swim to get out. This would not be a problem for children over 8 years old who would be able to grab the dock and get out.

Fabulous place!

We had a great time and made beautiful memories! We loved the hot tub and the fire pits- we rented kayaks and paddle boards and our kids spent the majority of the time enjoying the lake. Our only disclaimer to anyone planning on staying here is it is a hike to the water( they counted over 100 steps! Ha) we had two people in our party that have knee and foot issues and the hike back up the beautiful landscaping proved to be a challenge daily so it discouraged them from joining us on the water . Otherwise everything was fabulous and we had a wonderful time- it was a great surprise to have an updated bar and the bathrooms were beautiful!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was nice but so short. Arrived Friday night and was glad someone had already turned on a lamp and some heat. WHole family was there by 10:30pm. Parking was the only downside to staying - so near the main road and had to pack in on top of each other. HOuse was well stocked with utensils and beds were very comfy. Loved the lake view, pool table and hot tub!

Beautiful, relaxing getaway!

Can't say enough! The location, layout, and amenities were as exactly as described on the website. The interior was very clean and well maintained, especially the kitchen. The appliances, dishes, and utensils were spotless and so organized. Did not have to run things through dishwasher before using. Taylor Made contacted me during our stay to say that they were available if we needed them. I would recommend the Hiatus vacation rental and would love to return. We especially enjoyed the new deck, hot tub, and firepit! Our 5 yr old granddaughter loved her bedroom with the bunk beds and built in desk! Also, the bear motif throughout the house. When we did not prepare meals at the house, we enjoyed Ace's at The Will of the Wisp, Dutch's at Silver Tree, and Uno's. The Autumn Glory Parade, Swallow Falls hiking, and the Christmas Chalet shopping were so much fun. We did not make it to Candyland, (sad to say), or the craft shows. Next time! Watching movies at the house and building puzzles were fun for all of us. Only 2 issues: we were given the incorrect code to check into the house, which delayed our entry and we followed directions to checkout that did not work. We were to call Taylor Made from house phone which did not work. We tried our cell phone which was not recognized by the mgt office. We stopped into office personally to check out. Other than check in and check out, all was fantastic.

Hiatus vacation rental

Would have liked more cabinet room in kitchen so that all our dry goods, etc didn't take up all the counter space. But they did provide enough dishes, pots pans etc. We took way too much stuff with us, knowing now if we do it again we'll travel much lighter. Also, get a Keurig. Porch could have used a good pressure wash. Way too slippery on the rainy days and nights. But in all we had a great time and would rent again. PS We saw a bear on the lot around 9:30 pm half way down the path crossing the lot....

Beautifully landscaped with plenty of room to relax and get away from it all. Pleasantly surprised by the three fire rings, with plenty of wood, and lakeside picnic pavilion. Taylor Made once again was pleasant to deal with and when we had a concern were very quick to send someone out to resolve that problem. Also, the treat they left for our dog was, according to him, delicious.

Great location, Couple of Mishaps

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were very happy to be celebrating my wife's birthday at Hiatus. The location was great. The house was nice but definitely could have been cleaner. There were an abundance of cobwebs throughout the house. The only tub, in the master, was the inly place to bathe my 2 year old, had filthy dirty jets in the tub. Also, when my wige and I took a dip in the hot tub, a strong mildew odor took over. On our second day, my wife encountered a maintenance man entering the house while I was out getting a boat. She was resting as he entered the home. He was apologetic and I don't believe it was his fault, but there was never a mention of this mishap from the office. The invasion of our privacy shook my wife up a bit. The last night of our stay, an awful stench was found througbout the house. It smelled like backed up septic odor and was very unpleasant. We were more than pleased with the space overall, but the above mentioned were less than pleasant. The house was stocked with kitchen supplies which was appreciated.

Reviewer Comments: This is the first time we've vacationed with the extended family to Deep Creek Lake and the consensus is that "we loved it". 4 adults, 4 teenagers, and 2 grandparents and there was something for everyone to do! Everyone agreed that it was one of our best vacations! The Hiatus was perfect for the entire family and being dog-friendly, made it that much better. The location of the home is in a very private setting and the location to the lake was perfect. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything needed to make meal time easy. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a lake get away and will consider renting again in the future!

We could kayak without being knocked over by the wake of the boats and jet skis. The two separate living areas were great because my daughter has a four month old and could nurse the baby in a cozy quiet space. House is also well equipped. I would highly recommend a say at Hiatus!

Amazing Family Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We arrived at Hiatus our Taylor-Made Rental on Saturday July 29th. The house is even better than pictured. Beautiful location on the lake, lots of grassy yard for our dogs and everything to enjoy the week. Best stocked kitchen I've ever enjoyed and we rent often in Florida and previously at Deep Creek. Loved evenings at the fire pit and days hiking nearby or swimming and kayaking from our dock. One of our best vacations ever, plenty of space for our teen and twenty somethings in the lower level too. Planning to stay here again!
