This property looked very nice in the photos. We were rather disappointed when we arrived. The outside front stairs and back deck/outdoor table and chairs were covered in pollen. It looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. We don’t expect much, but we expect a clean rental. We found hair, dirt and lint on the floors and carpet. The towels were stained. Several giant ants were coming out of the bathroom drains. Lastly, as we removed our sheets from the beds the mattresses were stained so badly that it made me nauseated. This is the first review of any kind I️ have written. I️ am not one to complain, but for the price we paid I️ would expect a clean property with clean mattresses. I️ would not recommend staying at this property.

Functional home for group

A huge part of the reason we booked this home was for the “perks” like hot tub, air hockey and foosball. The foosball table has no balls so we could not use that. We received a notification from owner two weeks before visit that hot tub wasn’t working. Frustrated, I followed up and owner said due to chipmunks living in the hot tub, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t and we should try. He wasn’t planning to have it maintained until summer (despite that it is a promised feature in the house he has rented to many groups). Due to the safety issues with using a hot tub with chewed up wires, we didn’t attempt to use. Other than that, we enjoyed the house a lot and owner was very respinsive. No frills though: Not enough towels left (and the ones provided are tiny) and no spare blankets.

Unfortunately, the hot tub has taken a fair share of Mother Nature's abuse this winter, but we can assure you that as soon as the snow melts, the maintenance company is scheduled to do the necessary repairs. As we understand, they went to generous measures to make things right. The homeowner is replacing the balls for the foosball table as he was unaware they were missing. There will also be back up balls as well. Currently, there are 13 oversized towels at the house, but we are sorry if that did not meet your needs. The owners strive to provide exceptional guest experiences, and as evidenced by past reviews, we're confident this home will continue to host many satisfied guests! Best, the Evolve Team

Not the best stay

Unfortunately, this property did not quite meet our expectations. First, the amenities are not accurate for the hot tub and grill. The property does have a hot tub and we were told 1 week before our stay that it wasn't working and they were making it a priority. However, I read past reviews and the hot tub has clearly not been working since February and has had other issues. So this is not a priority for the owner. Until the hot tub is fixed, I would not list it as an amenity. The other amenity that is inaccurate is the bbq grill. 1 week before our stay, we were told that we had to bring our own propane tank in order to use it. I have NEVER in my 10 years of renting properties in Tahoe had to provide my own propane tank. We were also sadly misinformed about renting a propane tank. Ace Hardware DOES NOT rent them and you can only purchase them. Safeway does rent them but they are huge and more expensive than just buying one from Ace Hardware. I think you need to make it VERY clear up front to anybody interested in your property that this is a requirement. The house was poorly stocked with cooking pans, utensils, etc. Not much in the way of simple items such as baggies, tin foil, etc. The house is just poorly maintained. Tons of blinds were broken when we arrvied, stains on the couches, the patio furniture was worn out and not comfortable. While there are towels, they are extremely thread bare and they are not over sized. I'm also disappointed in the "benefits" that you receive by renting in Tahoe Donner. I believe the prices have increased as we rented there 2 summers ago and I'm sure we did not have to pay $105 for 7 of us just to use the pool. Same for the beach access ($15/person). It's really not worth it as you can go to West End Beach and spend a lot less. Or even drive to Kings Beach where you only have to pay $10 to park your car. I have rented properties at the same price point or cheaper and received a lot more in return.

Mediocre cabin

Overall the cabin was decent but not great. First, the property management company was very helpful and I was very happy with their service. The home itself has a few things that could take some consideration from the owners. The mattresses were very very dirty with questionable stains- pretty gross. Possibly mattress covers could solve that issue in the future. Secondly, the towels smelt like they sit wet in the washing machine for a while prior to being dried. We also needed more hand towels for the kitchen at least! The kitchen was a huge disappointment for us. We enjoy cooking and staying in- the kitchen was very very minimally stocked. It was so-able with creativity however definitely needed more of the essentials to be able to host a nice dinner gathering. Lastly I was not thrilled to bring my own propane tank. For the cost of the cabin per night, I would think a propane tank could be included. It really is an inconvenience. Also we could not figure it the fireplace or tv. Overall- nice space for a large group, fairly clean, however I would not rent again on the future due to the above concerns. If you don’t mind a dirty mattress and you prefer to eat out, then it’s probable okay.

Great house

This house was awesome, its simple and open, no clutter, lots of space. The refrigerator had lots condiments which was great! The kids had a blast in the game room downstairs kept them entertained! There was Apple TV so after skiing with the family we were able to watch the videos from the day which was a lot of fun! The owner was super responsive always able to answer any and all questions and really helpful all around. We had a wonderful time!

Great cabin with plenty of room

We had a great time here. The couch was large enough to accommodate seven of us for both superbowl viewing and playing Nintendo after a day on the slopes. The hot tub and numerous beds made relaxing and recovering easy too. The cabin was very clean, well-stocked, and everything had clear instructions posted everywhere. It was easy to get to both Boreal and Sugar Bowl, as well as into town for shopping and nightlife. We'd definitely book again. Thanks for a great time, especially during a blizzard!

We were looking for a home for a snow trip during our ski-week. This Rustic home was perfect for the three families that traveled together. With multiple bedrooms, and a downstairs area for the kids, it met everyone's needs and able space for conversations, play and hanging out. The driveway and hill outside was perfect for sledding - and the table was large enough for group dinners. Any questions we had, we were able to text and get prompt answers. A weekend to remember

The property was perfect for our family gathering. It is very spacious and cozy. It was a huge living room and a couch that fits almost fits all the guests there. Unfortunately we weren’t able to use to hot tub but hopefully the next time we rent this property again we will. The location of it is perfect. Nice area to take a walk, also is less than 10 min drive from Donner lake. Overall, the weekend was absolutely amazing thanks to this property!

Great house for a big group!

The house was spacious, clean and updated. Great for large groups, especially with kids. Beautiful neighborhood very close to downtown Truckee. The kitchen was incredibly nice, spacious and well-equipped. The huge couch in the living room was super comfortable. We'd definitely stay here again!

Fantastic location, nice house, great owner!

I've been coming up to Truckee for many years and usually book at the same house but this time decided to try another. This house was amazing. Good location, large and spacious, bright, and clean. The kids had their own room downstairs with bunk beds while the adults slept on the upper level allowing us to have undisturbed mornings so we were able to sleep in. The game room has an air hockey table, foosball, and plastic darts to entertain the children and adults. Very fun! Also any questions I had I could text and call the owner with quick response, very friendly too. Lots of parking in the garage and in the driveway. I'll be coming back to this house for sure!
