The Eagle's Nest has only one step to the house and one step to the dock ON the Lake of Egypt. A paved sitting area is ideal for all ages to rest, play, and enjoy the view. A GRASSY YARD makes a great setting for yard games, while the PORCH & SUN ROOM are perfect for visiting, game playing, and plain RELAXATION. There is a COVERED, 2-slip BOAT DOCK with POWER for your boat(s), or you could rent our PONTOON for an additional fee. Make this location your next destination for serenity, fun, or whatever you need!

Everything was top notch at the eagles nest. Great service, clean, well equipped. We enjoyed the kayaks, boat dock & fire pit! Saw deer, turtles, blue herons and egrets. Love this place!

Annual fishing trip

This is our 5th year here and wouldn’t stay any place else!! Beautiful home, lakefront, neighborhood and great fishing!! Spending the day boating and swimming in the lake is so relaxing. Spectacular views and the most gracious hosts there could ever be. Heather and Jeff are amazing and are on top of everything!! My family looks forward to this trip more than any other and are already planning on next year!!

Cousin's Weekend Retreat

My sister and cousins enjoyed this home so much! In spite of constant rain we found plenty to do. The beds are comfy, the floor plan is great and there is a great kitchen for group cooking. We would definitely come back again!

Excellent property, great hosts and lots of relaxing. There’s a place to walk/run in Marion called the Crisp Sports Complex. That’s for flat landers like me who don’t do big hills.

Jeff is a WI native, and I hail from MN. We met at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and made southern IL our home. We've lived on the Lake of Egypt for over 20-years, raised our 17-year-old son here, and made countless memories with family and friends. We feel like we are on a continuous lakeside retreat in the Shawnee National Forest, which provides endless beauty, adventure, and fun.

We chose to become hosts because we wanted to give other people the lake life experience, encourage them to find their inner adventurer, and to explore all that beautiful Southern Illinois has to offer. We hope guests can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, camp fires, wineries, hiking, family time, friend time, relaxation, and most importantly, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Why they chose this property

The Eagle's Nest is a well-maintained lake front property on Lake of Egypt and centrally located in the Shawnee National Forest. You can enjoy the lake, site-seeing, and sipping wine all in the same day! The closest hiking trail is the beautiful Ferne Clyffe State Park, which is only 5-miles away.

The bulk of hiking trails and wineries are within 30-minutes of the property. The Little Grand Canyon and Garden of the Gods are both within only an hour drive to the east or west, too! There are dozens of hikes, restaurants, wineries, and more in between.
