The Eagle's Nest has only one step to the house and one step to the dock ON the Lake of Egypt. A paved sitting area is ideal for all ages to rest, play, and enjoy the view. A GRASSY YARD makes a great setting for yard games, while the PORCH & SUN ROOM are perfect for visiting, game playing, and plain RELAXATION. There is a COVERED, 2-slip BOAT DOCK with POWER for your boat(s), or you could rent our PONTOON for an additional fee. Make this location your next destination for serenity, fun, or whatever you need!

Overall property was nice. The full-size deck along the lakefront side was perfect with one portion covered (great for rainy day), open portion with dining table and an air-conditioned sunroom provided great views of the lake.

We had a great weekend at this lakehouse! It was perfect for our family. Plenty of room to spread out, comfy beds, stocked kitchen for cooking all meals, and plenty of seating areas to relax. The dock (& cove) was perfect for swimming and the shed had fishing gear, chairs and plenty of rafts. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful lakehouse with us- we’d love to come back!

This was our 6th year here and we aren’t stopping now!! Most incredible lake home with the best views!! Heather and Jeff are the most gracious hosts and are always quick to respond to anything. Our stay here this weekend was incredible! Check in was super easy and communication with the Hosts was excellent!!! We were enjoying our stay so much, that was asked to do late check out and they were so accommodating with a simple extra fee! Lake of Egypt is absolutely stunning and I could not have asked for a better location of the house- it was secluded enough but still gave us great access to the entire lake. We would 100% recommend this place!

The property was clean and as described in the listing. The owners were very responsive and it was such a welcomed feature to be able to rent the pontoon boat from the owners instead of a marina. The weather was less than perfect while we were there but we still find plenty to do in the surrounding area.

This house is very nice and well-kept. There’s plenty of room and everything works as expected. It’s a perfect getaway for boating/fishing with private covered boat slips. It’s also convenient to Ferne Clyffe, Giant City and lots of other attractions. We’ll definitely be back. We highly recommend this listing!

5th year coming here. Hosts are awesome. Very responsive when messaged. Jeff and Heather are amazing down to earth people. Place has amazing views, quiet location in a bay off the main. Sounds of nature in morning while drinking coffee... PEACEFUL 12IN water tray on plants would be perfect!

Jeff is a WI native, and I hail from MN. We met at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and made southern IL our home. We've lived on the Lake of Egypt for over 20-years, raised our 17-year-old son here, and made countless memories with family and friends. We feel like we are on a continuous lakeside retreat in the Shawnee National Forest, which provides endless beauty, adventure, and fun.

We chose to become hosts because we wanted to give other people the lake life experience, encourage them to find their inner adventurer, and to explore all that beautiful Southern Illinois has to offer. We hope guests can enjoy fishing, boating, swimming, camp fires, wineries, hiking, family time, friend time, relaxation, and most importantly, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Why they chose this property

The Eagle's Nest is a well-maintained lake front property on Lake of Egypt and centrally located in the Shawnee National Forest. You can enjoy the lake, site-seeing, and sipping wine all in the same day! The closest hiking trail is the beautiful Ferne Clyffe State Park, which is only 5-miles away.

The bulk of hiking trails and wineries are within 30-minutes of the property. The Little Grand Canyon and Garden of the Gods are both within only an hour drive to the east or west, too! There are dozens of hikes, restaurants, wineries, and more in between.
