Unfortunately, this was an exceptionally difficult stay. During the stay, a severe storm resulted in loss of electricity and water at the property. After approximately 24 hours had passed since the storm and power had still not been restored, I offered to refund the remainder of the stay so the guest could relocate to a safer accommodation. The guest departed approximately 45 minutes after the scheduled checkout time. During that time, security cameras showed the guest wearing a full-face mask and bringing additional items into the unit rather than checking out. This raised a security concern and required a visit from the sheriff’s office. The property was also left requiring substantially more cleaning and restoration than a normal turnover. There was a strong urine/alcohol odor, dried milk throughout the kitchenette, extensive hair throughout the unit, significant buildup on the glass shower door, and the comforter was left in a condition that our cleaner determined could not be restored. Overall, this stay required substantially more cleaning, restoration, and intervention than any other guest stay. I would not host this guest again.
