Moosehead- Greenville Maine area. Snowmobile, ATV, Your private vacation cabin!

A Private peaceful cabin escape (with Bathroom and Shower- VRBO' header says "0" in error) surrounded with nature . Secluded and tucked away all by itself but only 12 mins from Greenville and Moosehead Lake. You are the ONLY cabin on Bunker Pond ! Directly on ITS 85 South for ATV, biking and snowmobile trails ! Rentals available in Greenville. This is the place if you really want to relax. Spacious areas to roam ….small fields with wild raspberries, blueberries and fruit trees along the 1,000 foot gated driveway that winds thru the woods and out behind the pond. The cabin sits on a knoll overlooking Bunker Pond capturing beautiful sunsets. You are the only cabin on the pond—This is privacy at its best! The Appalachian trail crosses less than 3 miles south of driveway. The Railroad bed with all tracks removed, is for biking and 4 wheeling and snowmobiling connects just 300 yards south and 500 yards North with direct access from the end of my driveway! it is called ITS 85 South , on the expansive trail system and It goes straight to Greenville Junction. ATV's and snowmobile rentals . Winter bocce course on groomed 1,000 foot driveway for extreme bocce. Greenville shops and restaurants and a full service Trading post on Indian Hill featuring: Sporting goods, clothing, and a full service grocery store just minutes away. The View from Blair Hill is a mile North of town…don’t miss it. Beyond that 25 min is the infamous B-52 crash site which is a short 40 yard walk from your car to the beginning of the debris field. Mount Kineo is a great hike to the fire tower offering a breath taking 360 degree view of majestic Moosehead Lake. Moosehead Lake (+75,000 acres) is the largest fresh water lake East of the Mississippi that is all within the confines of one State. More good restaurants than the list Vrbo provided. I can suggest for you. Enjoy the Massive woodlands with countless gravel roads and trails for exploring. World class Landlocked Salmon and Brook Trout fly fishing with guided float boat trips on the East Outlet or West Branch of the Penobscot rivers….even if you never fly fished before these guides will do all the work and catch you fish! Try a half day and you may get hooked ! They have all the equipment for you. If you want to try and see North Americas largest game animal, try a guided Moose safari trip. Seaplane rides out of Greenville are spectacular. Venture out for a day in paradise and retreat back to your private secluded cabin for relaxation at its best. Special note for 2024: In reading some of the reviews you will see mentioned an outdoor wood fired cedar hot tub. There is no more hot tub. Sorry, Last year(2023) was its last year in service. I have removed it from amenities.

Fantastic rental!!
Tom was a perfect host! Had great communication from start to finish. The house and property were extremely tranquil and well maintained. The private lake and dock boat was our absolute favorite part. So peaceful! We will absolutely be back!

Away from it all
Really enjoyed Tom’s cabin! Convenient to Greenville and Moosehead Lake though you feel like you’re really getting away from it all. His property is gorgeous and well maintained. The cabin is cozy and well stocked with everything you’ll need (except bed linens which isn’t convenient for those traveling by air.) Tom obviously takes great pride in his house and was happy to show us all the cool experiences his cabin offers. He taught my daughter how to fish with peanuts and feed the chipmunk from her hand. And we had a blast putzing around the pond on his motor dock! He is serious about making sure everyone enjoys themselves. He’s a great host on a beautiful property!

Honeymoon/ family vacation
Just got back from a 2 week stay at the beautiful place! Week one was our honeymoon and couldn’t ask for anything more, so peaceful and relaxing. Week 2 the family showed up and our kids loved every bit of it from the fires, lady slipper lounge to the floating dock. This property is a much for someone looking for a remote get away.

No complaints here!
Impossible to even think of one negative thing to say about this cozy perfect little cabin in the woods. Tom, the owner, is one of the nicest most genuine people my husband and I have ever met! He was there from start to finish making sure we had everything we needed along the way. He even had welcome gifts for us and treats for the dogs! You can definitely tell how much pride he has for this entire camp and really wants to share his little slice of heaven he built with people. There’s so much to do in the area and at the camp, we feel like we barely scratched the surface while we were here. We’re already planning our trip back next year though I think we will try to come when it’s a bit warmer so we can really enjoy everything the camp has to offer! Thank you so much Tom for allowing us to stay in your home! Erika and Andy

Holiday weekend getaway
5 stars! Great location to unplug and spend some quality time with family. The five of us and our dog enjoyed the wonderful outdoors for Labor Day weekend. We did not need to leave the property for the entire weekend. Enjoyed the water paddle boarding, swimming, and cruising around on the pond. Relaxed on the porch, in the hot tub, and by the fire pit. Weather was perfect and Tom was a great host. He truly wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time at his cabin. He went above and beyond. Can’t wait to go back and stay for a full week.

Perfect place to literally get off the grid
Tom's place is perfect to get off the grid and unwind, and the pictures don't do it justice. It's as private as you can get and there's enough to do on the property itself to warrant not leaving the cabin for the entire trip, but it's location also serves as a perfect spot to plan numerous day trips from. It's a toss up for who loved the property the most, us or our dogs. They had so much fun swimming in the pond, running in the fields, and exploring Moosehead Lake with us just about every day. The best part of the cabin - the cedar hot tub. It's the perfect spot for morning coffee and/or a drink to the end the day. Tom made sure we were comfortable with the off grid workings of the cabin, was quick to respond, and very helpful with any questions we had. It was a very enjoyable week.

Book it! You’ll love it!
We had the pleasure of staying for a second time at Tom’s Cabin. We were just as happy and impressed as the first stay. Tom greeted us when we arrived as if we were family visiting. His gift basket was made with love and thoughtfulness with our family in mind. He was always available and wanted to know if we needed anything. My family, consisting of my husband, my 20 year old son, 15 year old daughter, 11 year old daughter and 2 year old golden retriever enjoyed swimming in the pond, kayaking, fishing, playing corn hole, relaxing in the hot tub, cooking meals, playing games and venturing into town. We felt comfortable and relaxed. It was a vacation that will always be remembered. Tom made sure that everything was ready for us to have an incredible week.

A piece of heaven and a true gem !
Every so often we find a place that has so much character, and you can just feel how well loved it is. This is the place. Everything about the cabin and its beautiful grounds tell a story, and Tom is like the old friend you just met but instantly connect to and feel like you’ve known forever . His love and care for this cabin and land is the second to none. So many special touches, from the Cedar hot tub to the solar pontoon deck (a must do!) to all of the wonderful things to explore inside the cabin our only complaint is we had to go home so soon. Tom thought of everything, and makes you feel like family. He is 1000% invested in his guests comfort and happiness. Super private ( I mean, you have an entire trout stocked pond to yourself!) yet close to all that Greenville and Moosehead has to offer. The home is cozy and comfortable, well stocked and a great place to come “home” after a day in the woods! Wonderful landscaping that attracts and sustains the beautiful wildlife that thrive here. Don’t let a solar powered house deter you… all of the comforts of home are here!! We can’t wait to return, thank you Tom for your hospitality and sharing your piece of heaven with us!! We did not ride ATVs on this trip but noted how convenient this place is to the great trail system in the area. We enjoyed exploring all of the back roads, mountain roads and logging roads in our Jeep. Caught trout in the pond and saw moose and deer on the way into town almost daily! Simply wonderful!!

the perfect place to unplug and relax
Vacationing here feels less like renting and more like staying at a friend's house. Tom is a really wonderful person, and the property is so special. We had planned on doing more around the area while we were there, but ended up spending our days on the property because it was so restful. We spent the week reading and swimming, going for runs or walks, painting, kayaking around the pond, watching wildlife, relaxing in the hot tub, playing games, and drinking lots of hot chocolate. We have wonderful memories of our time there and hope to come back!

So much better than expected!
We stayed at Tom’s little slice of Heaven for a week and were sad to leave. Meeting Tom at check in felt like meeting an old friend, and we were immediately comfortable. He’s put his heart and soul into this property and it is evident as soon as you pull onto the long driveway leading to camp and pass through the clover fields, fruit trees/bushes and flowers. The photos don’t do the property (inside or out) justice, and it was so much more than we’d hoped for or expected. We were encouraged to make ourselves comfortable, and truly believed that was a sincere sentiment - it made it easy to feel at home there. The pond was very clean and refreshing, and the pontoon dock with motor SO much fun! The wood fired cedar hot tub was also a group favorite, and we found ourselves having morning coffee and mimosas there most mornings, and stargazing there at night. The property is immaculate, and Tom has truly thought of every little detail, and if you find something he hasn’t - he is so kind and responsive, and happy to help! We enjoyed all aspects of this vacation, and can’t wait to return! Our dog, Harry (3yr old lab) had the best week of his life, and was maybe the most sad about leaving! Tom loved on him as if he were his own and for that, I am so grateful. Thanks Tom, for everything! See you soon!

A slice of heaven
This place is simply amazing. If you are looking for peace and serenity and to get away from it all, look no further than this enchanted home overlooking the beautiful Bunker Pond. Tom is a superb host; he met us upon arrival and gave us an excellent tour of his house and property. We really enjoyed playing on the pond, looking for the beavers who inhabit the pond, and spotting the loons and the otters. There are chipmunks abound and friendly little squirrels too. It is so peaceful and quiet at night; we enjoyed soaking in the wood-fired hot tub and spending time hanging out on the beautiful porch. Tom has two outdoor grills, do yourself a huge favor and try out that Blackstone flat grill; you'll never feel the need to cook inside at all, though you can. Tom has EVERYTHING you need to come in and make yourself right at home- lots of cooking pots/pans/utensils, just everything! The town of Greenville is a short drive up the road, and the grocery store is just enough to provide you with anything you may need. Another thing, Tom has several vegetable gardens, and he encouraged us to pick what we desired- and we did (we left him some, though). LOL. We invited Tom over for dinner on our final night, and I believe we made a friend for life. Thank you, Tom; we can't say enough about your beautiful home and hospitality. We WILL be coming back!

Memorable Family Trip on beautiful property in a cabin that felt like home!
Our experience was awesome!! Tom was very communicative and passionate about the property, surrounding towns and amenities. He was always available to talk to us before, during and after the trip. Our family enjoyed meeting him and talking to him. We were greeted by Tom and a beautiful basket of Maine Treats and souvenirs. He was very thorough with his tour. The cabin was beautiful and included everything we needed. The view was breathtaking.. Our family enjoyed; kayaking, swimming, fishing, playing corn hole, sitting on the porch, relaxing in the recliners, roasting marshmallows on the fire, soaking in hot tub and enjoying meals on the griddle. We even made a hibachi meal one night. Any questions we had were quickly responded to by Tom. He was even interested to learn about our adventures. We loved the people at North Woods Outfitters. The owner set up fishing rods for us and then we went on a Moose Tour. My children didn’t want to leave the property. They felt at home and entertained by all that was available. One of the most memorable experiences was bringing out 9 month old puppy. Tom had a leash for outside for her and even had treats waiting for her. She loved her first vacation. She enjoyed the floating pontoon to float around the pond and to jump off of to swim. She was occupied by all of the wildlife and the variety of sticks to chew. If you want a quiet vacation with a beautiful view, this is the place for you. Tom was the best host.

Log cabin off the grid
This remote cabin comes with a large unsettled area of land/forest and a PRIVATE lake! Enjoy fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities! Internet connection is only available within two feet of the cell signal amplifier in the house (forcing your kids to read and forget their cell phones! Great for tech detox for adults). Tom is a very generous and thoughtful host! He will meet you with the local goodies and show you around. He provides wood for the fireplace and a 19th cent Jacuzzi (our favorite!). You can reach Tom anytime during your stay, he is very responsive and helpful. Bring bed linens, fishing gear, not a lot of eateries in the neighborhood so be prepared to cook (fully stocked kitchen and outdoor gas grill). Explore Kineo park and the B-52 crash site.

What a wonderful stay
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Tom's cabin. If you want to get away and disconnect while also enjoying the beauty of Maine, this is the perfect spot. We loved swimming in and exploring around the lake, soaking in the hot tub, and just relaxing on the porch. Tom is without question the best host we have met in our years of traveling and staying in privately owned properties. He has every detail covered. I like to cook and I appreciated that he had quality, sharp knives for chopping and preparing foods. Tom's place is unique and special, and we felt privileged to stay there. In our many years of traveling to and vacationing in Maine, this is the place that everyone in our family unanimously agrees we need to come back to. Tom is a good and kind soul whose generosity comes through from the moment you meet him. Thanks,

Beautiful and relaxing
Tom's place is absolutely amazing. The photos of the inside of the cabin don't do it justice--it's very clean and comfortable. Our kids had the best time on the boat fishing, and we all enjoyed the hot tub in the evenings, and again in the mornings for our cup of coffee! We are completely relaxed after a week away from the grind. While we enjoyed the Moosehead area, many of the best parts of the trip for us were just hanging around at the cabin.

I think the pictures do not do this property justice. This is a wonderful cabin. The land is well maintained. Tom, the owner, plants things to attract wildlife to the cabin. Therefore there is much to enjoy. The cabin is remote from neighbors, yet very close to many conveniences. The bathroom is larger than the picture may convey. We were 5 adults and very comfortable there. There is an outdoor grill and griddle to make cooking even more enjoyable. Excellent, excellent, excellent

Cabin with it all!
We were very pleased with the cabin, it’s amenities, and location. We mostly soaked up the wonderful seclusion the cabin offers, enjoying the view of the pond and whatever animals wandered in. We saw a snow shoe hare, deer, countless birds, and even caught a couple brook trout from the pond. The kids loved catching fish in the bait traps and catching bigger fish right from the pontoon deck with their poles. The cabin had all the comforts of home and we even fired up the hot tub one night. When we did venture out, we enjoyed all the nearby town of Greenville had to offer. We took a ride on the Katharden boat, went on a morning moose safari, browsed the shops, ate at the restaurants, and had shakes at the bar in the drug store. Tom was very pleasant to talk to and was very helpful with any questions we had during our stay. We would absolutely visit again!

Slice of Heaven
This our fifth year at Tom's cabin in paradise. The sunsets are amazing. I love drinking coffee in the mornings at the Lady Slipper Lounge in the woods with the sound of the flowing stream. What a way to start the day. Its medicine for the soul. We spent most of the week riding the atv trails. Took the pontoon out for a couple 3 hour tours. Terry tried his hand at fly fishing, took a day trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. Had great times and laughs with friends that came along. A word of advice, don't drink wine and walk in the woods, you might lose your phone :) thanks Tom for helping me in the search. We had the best time, thats why we keep coming back. Incredible!
Best vacation ever! Tom is an amazing host and the love and care he has put into the property is apparent. Plus the cabin has everything you need and is so cozy. This is seriously the best place to unwind and enjoy nature. There are trails directly from the house - we biked and ran on them daily. The AT is only 3 miles from the house. Saw two moose and a mother bear with two cubs on the trails. It is so peaceful - there is no noise except for the loons calling on the lake! The stars at night are incredible - not to mention the sunsets. We grilled and had campfires and relaxed on the porch every day. And Monson or Greenville is a short car ride away if you want to go into town. We can't wait to go back. Thank you Tom for your hospitality and sharing this piece of heaven with us! We so enjoyed meeting you and Louie.

Serene & calming environment!
It was fantastic being off-grid yet living as if you weren't. The owner has set up this cabin with all the amenities of home and more. A fully stocked restaurant kitchen as well as the outdoor grills and griddle were fantastic. We awoke every morning to the beautiful skies framing the pond, the sounds and sights of wildlife, and the smell of pine but no neighbor disturbances. The cabin is an excellent choice for a family seeking to do day trips or hoping for quiet relaxation fishing and hiking. Our children loved the separate loft for sleeping too! A newcomer will find dish towels, firewood, spices, bath & hand towels and even books and games on the shelves...all helpful items for entertaining the family. Locally there are fantastic restaurants, float plane rides, grocery access, and let's not forget... The most delicious ice cream imaginable at the local Dairy Bar near the wharf in Greenville. Go, and then plan to return!!

Why they chose this property

My grandfather spent years fishing and hunting in the Moosehead Lake region. I fell in love with the lore of the Indians and Lumberjacks from yesteryear. The old Maine Guides; The old camps and cabins; Seasoned outdoorsmen and women. I was drawn to the feeling of getting away to the Great North Woods. Big woods gave me a sense of freedom --the peace the area gave me.

What makes this property unique

I love the fact that I am in the Great North Woods, yet only 12 minutes to Greenville at the Southern tip of Moosehead lake...with all its shops and restaurants. Also it is just under 3 hours from Portland. It is a very private setting....very quiet....peaceful....the trout pond and being the only cabin on it, you are spoiled by beautiful sunsets; sunrises; the wildlife that visit; all for yourself. Float on the pond on the solar powered pontoon deck with silent motor and swim ladder. The night sky can be dazzling with thousands of stars. Full and 3/4 moon nights are incredibly bright --you can see well without flashlights!
