It was a great place to stay for our group of 6 couples. There was plenty of room for us. The property is beautiful and right on the canal. Plenty of room to park all of our trucks and large trailers. Easy access to the trails.
Property was fabulous...maybe even better than the pictures depict. Property manager was prompt with responses and completely accommodating. Snow got plowed almost as it fell. Sauna was legit. 10/10!
It met our every need. We have nothing but good to share. Home was perfect, setting picturesque, process was easy and convenient! Thank you, Phil & Lori! - Ken & Liz
We had a wonderful stay at the canal house. Plenty of room for sleeping, and very clean. All the kitchen appliances you might need. A central location for all of our destinations.
Houghton is my favorite city in Michigan. Lori and Phil have a beautiful house on the canal. Very clean and organized, and had additional items such as spices and coffee! I love the curtains, and the ships passing. I never wanted to leave! Lori and Phil again! Thank you!
Our annual getaway was phenomenal. The property was exactly what we were looking for. More than enough space for all of us. Incredibly clean and well stocked (kitchen, bathrooms, laundry). The sauna was a big hit. Swimming was excellent and location was convenient. We would absolutely stay again.
We had 8 in our group which was perfect for us to have plenty of space to move around and everyone got their own bed. It was a good location to do all the sight seeing that we had planned. The hosts were very easy to communicate with.
We stayed here for a week with two big family’s. Enough room for all. Beautiful location close to copper harbor and Brockway mountain drive, a must see when your this far north. Definitely exceeded expectations and the owner was very helpful and sweet
We loved the property and the hosts. It is perfect for a larger group. The kids swam pretty much every day. We enjoyed our evenings around the fire pit. The hosts were very responsive and not intrusive. I highly recommend this property.
We had a group of 11 stay at the Houghton Canal Rocky Shore Retreat for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The location is beautiful and peaceful. We were close enough to all the hiking we wanted to do and even dinner in downtown. The house was clean and well organized and our hosts were incredibly kind and communicative. We cannot recommend this place enough!!
Exceptional! Location was perfect! Near the University and town yet quiet at night. Very well equipped kitchen, plenty of towels for everyone, well stocked toiletries. Hosts were very attuned to our needs. It was a great stay, made lifetime family memories! Would definitely stay again!
5 couples on a Fall color atv ride. Worked out great for us. Close to everything you need
Trail access on atvs was easy. Plenty of room to sit and visit. Fire pit along the canal was perfect end of the evening spot. Hosts were very easy to communicate with. Made everything simple.
Our family’s stay at the Red House was awesome! It was a very spacious yet cozy home full of nice amenities. The sauna was put to good use every day and we all enjoyed multiple jumps in the lake as well. Lori was helpful and quick to respond to any inquiries. The only downfall was having to leave at the end of our week! We would definitely love to come back again!
We had 3 families for our annual week and this was our first time to Houghton. Kids range from 9-16. House was perfect location with easy access to many of the places we explored, most within an hour. Yard was great for wiffle ball and volleyball. Fire pit large enough for all to enjoy. The deck and dock were perfect for watching the ranger and sipping a cup of coffee. 11 minute drive to Breakers to watch the beautiful sunsets. As expected per the instructions, we needed to bring all toiletries (soaps, shampoo, conditioner). Kitchen has enough pans, utensils, dishes to make large meals so just bring the food. Bring beach towels and blankets for the beaches.
The Rocky Shores Retreat was amazing. The house was clean and move in ready! The host responded really quickly to every communication. The addition of the washer and dryer with detergent provided was so appreciated!! We made use of all of the amenities - dock, fire pit, sauna!!! We will definitely book here again!
