The newly refurbished pool and spa opened in 2024 await you at our La Casa Sirena (The Mermaid House) at Bahia Vista in Avalon on beautiful Santa Catalina Island. This lovely getaway condo offers affordable luxury just three blocks from the beach. We provide you with FREE WIFI, Netflix, Roku, BBQ and propane on a private patio just 20 steps from the pool and spa. We fully remodeled, including wood floors throughout. The property features tasteful Catalina and mermaid-themed décor, fun for the whole family! We have two spacious bedrooms upstairs plus a downstairs cove and can comfortably sleep six. In the Master, enjoy a king bed, walk-in double-head shower, double-vanity in a lush, terracotta setting. The second bedroom features comfortable twin beds in a nautical theme. The guest bath includes a Jacuzzi tub set amidst rich marble tile. A comfortable daybed/trundle downstairs with pull-out completes the accommodations. And as the name suggests, there are plenty of mermaids to be found! Most units at Bahia Vista are available for rent, making the complex perfect for family reunions or multiple families who wish to vacation together but have separate accommodations. For occasional extra-warm weather we include both ceiling and floor fans.

VALUE GUARANTEE - Why is La Casa Sirena such a great value? Unlike some big companies, we are proud to charge only what our cleaning company charges us with nothing tacked on, and no "administrative fee," no "processing fee," no "mandatory damage waver" or any other fees from us! (The service fee you'll see is charged by VRBO.) For our longer-term guests: We apply a 5% discount to a stay of 7 consecutive nights, and a 10% discount for a month's stay (28 consecutive nights).

Two important notes:
1) Only the number of guests identified during registration and names sent to property manager will be allowed in the unit.

2) We love animals but our unit is allergy-friendly, so you will have to leave beloved pets at home. Certified Service Dogs are allowed, but because deep cleaning is required if ANY animal has been inside the property, a $250 charge will be assessed. Thank you for your understanding.

Stay here during the Catalina Wine Mixer. The place is in a great location. Didn’t even need to use a golf cart. Place was a little warm but overall great place!

Quiet and clean!

We loved the location. Easy access to trails leading back to the conservatory but also within walking distance to everything you could want to do. We enjoyed being a bit further away from the main street because it meant nice quiet nights. The property manager was quick to respond by text and very helpful! Thank you!

Great location, great property

I came to Catalina island with 2 friends to run the marathon. We had a great stay. The location of the property was very close to everything. It was very clean and well stocked. We would definitely chose this property again in the future.

We loved the hot tub and pool. The grocery store was just a short walk away and room 5 was very close to pool. The steep stairs up to bedrooms were a bit hard for elderly couple but doable.

The place was clean and spacious . The location was decent being about a 7-8 min walk to the downtown area . Kids loved the swimming pool. Tried to go to the pool the last day, but the door to the pool was locked despite it being past the time it was supposed to be open. All together a nice stay!

Spacious and comfortable

I stayed here in the spring with my parents and two daughters. It's on the outskirts of town but the town is so small that my mom had no trouble walking here from the ferry terminal (she's in her late seventies with only average mobility for her age). Super close to the one grocery store and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals.

The property was not clean when we arrived. We were put in contact with the lady supervising the property, and she brought in the cleaning people. We were out while they cleaned, but we weren't impressed by their efforts. They didn't empty the trash either.

Lovely clean property, but it gets farther from the beach each time for us oldsters, lol. Love the pool and hot tub. Ceiling fans upstairs missing batteries that apparently could not be had nearby, so upstairs smaller bedroom warm, even with door open and small floor fan.Having to list exact names of what 6 people would be in house seemed a bit odd.

Condo was in a great location! It was well taken care of. Good decor and spacious. We had a couple issues. The pictures show ceiling fans in most if the rooms, but the one in the smaller bedroom doesn’t work. Made it a bit stuffy. Quite of few outlets only had one working (top or bottom) Not huge a deal but definitely inconvenient. The pool was not heated and sometimes was not open by 9am like the signs states.

Mermaids rule

We enjoyed our stay very much. It was very comfortable for five of us. The pool, jacuzzi, jacuzzi tub were all nice features. There was enough pots, pans, plates, etc for the stay. The location also worked out. Would be very happy to stay there again in the future.

Relaxing stay on Catalina

My family stayed for 2 nights over Memorial Day weekend. It was very comfortable for my wife and I and our 3 kids. The location is a short walk from the harbor, but it’s further back where it’s quieter. Great location and we’d stay again.

Mel Dinkel and Leslie Baer Dinkel met on non-other than Santa Catalina Island. A few years later, we were married at Descanso Beach (highly recommended!) in Avalon. Catalina holds so many memories for us, and since we are not on the Island all the time, we wanted to create an 'affordable luxury' accommodation where people could make their own memories! Since lots of families come to Catalina, it had to be fun -- thus, 'La Casa Sirena' (The Mermaid House) which includes both Catalina and Mermaid themes, bright-colored and interesting tiles and aesthetic, along with a closet just for beach accessories! It also had to be romantic for couples, and so, the lush natural woods, leathers and stone, Cal King bed, fun master shower for two and extra-wide jacuzzi! In short, we wanted it to be comfortable enough to be our home away from home, and yours too!
