A group of my girlfriends stayed here for a weekend and enjoyed the outdoors and wineries in the Finger Lakes. The house was perfect - comfortable, clean, had great outdoor activities, and indoor/outdoor spaces to hang out. We had an awesome weekend!!
House was immaculate, well appointed, well stocked, most everything worked perfectly, yard is not huge but nice enough. Bathrooms are great, with plenty of hot water. great view, kayaks. Good place...
This house is beautiful! Lovely setting, right on the lake, short drive to multiple wineries/breweries. The bedding, towels, kitchen accessories, etc were all great.
Great setup for couples or families with older children, there were no extras in the house for babies or young children (pack n plays, high chair, gates). This was fine, we brought what we needed, just an fyi. The dock is a very simple little thing you can walk out on, but you wouldn’t sit out there. Small rocky beach type area has a dining table and fire pit that we enjoyed.
Would recommend this place!

Bethany - THANK YOU! I am excited to share that after a 2 year waitlist the new dock goes in the end of this MONTH!!! THANK YOU AGAIN :)
The property was perfect. Very clean, very well provisioned. The proximity of the house to the water was our favorite feature. We ate all our meals on the back patio table, watching a heron fish for minnows with the gorgeous sunset as a backdrop. The shore was nice and shallow, and the lake was warm. We barely got out of our bathing suits from sun up til sundown, and then we gathered around the fire pit. Even though we had planned to visit a local winery, we wound up never leaving the house, as it had everything we needed for a lovely reunion weekend.
The only quibble was that one of the bedrooms had a smoke detector with a dead battery that annoyingly chirped. We couldn't find a battery in the junk drawer, and pushing the hush button only temporarily delayed the chirp. The owner was not reachable through neither the app nor on the cell phone provided. He did respond later the morning after we reached out, and apologized.

Lovely home, but ....
The little bungalow is immaculate, cozy, and filled with the finest linens, glassware, games, DVD's, and kayaks. Truly, the bungalow is cozy and comfortable.
Our difficulty with this rental was that we had children from 18 mos to 9 yrs of age and safety is always the issue. The home is located just feet from busy East Lake Road; the children could play only on the small patch of grass behind house. The dock surface becomes extremely hot in the summer sun. And, there is not a safe dock ladder. There is a foot long plank missing in the dock that someone can easily hurt themselves if they fell through. One is not able to call our host as he does not pick up the phone and his mailbox is filled. Emailing him through the VRBO website is a bit more successful.

The Seneca Bungalow was just perfect for our group of 6 adults and 2 children. With COVID 19 this was the first time that we could all be together for months and our family time was wonderful. The cottage had everything we needed: plenty of parking for our 4 SUVs, a beautiful dock to sit on, a great backyard for outdoor games, a fire pit right by the water with six comfy Adirondack chairs, and a back porch with rockers and ceiling fans! The indoor space of the cottage was beautifully decorated and had every thing we needed! AC for the warm days and ceiling fans in every room. The kitchen was very well stocked with every appliance, pots, pans, dishes, bowls, serving bowls and platters and all necessary utensils! The living room was adorable with a large game closet and shelves with books, binoculars and info about the finger lakes area. We didn’t need the fireplace but there is one there to use! The master bedroom was beautiful and large with a master bath and a walk in closet. The other bedrooms upstairs were very pretty too. One with a king size bed, another with a queen bed and the third with two twin beds. All bedrooms had dressers, night stand tables and TVs. The upstairs bathroom was vary large with a washer and dryer. The third bathroom downstairs was also a full bathroom with another washer and dryer! There were tons of adult and child sized life jackets and beach towels for all. All bathrooms had plenty of bath and hand towels and washcloths. The kitchen also had a small supply of paper towel, baggies, tin foil and Saran Wrap and bag clips and the bathrooms supplied with toilet paper! Wood for the Firepit was easily found just a couple miles down the road. I’m sure I’m forgetting things but would highly recommend this cottage! As a plus the double kayak was so much fun and was taken out several times by us. Thank you Calvin for sharing your cottage with us!

Disappointed
Good:
This home is lake front and offers beautiful views to the west. Although it's small, it seems to offer ample space on the inside. There is a lovely master bedroom on the first floor, and three additional bedrooms on the second floor. It's also tastefully decorated and furnished throughout. All furnishings seemed to be in great shape and showed little wear.
In my opinion, this home is also in a great location. Although it is about a 10 minute drive to Geneva, it is close to some of my favorite wineries. It's located in an area that is not densely populated, offering a pleasant rural atmosphere.
Bad:
Although this is a newer home, it is beginning to show signs of wear. There is obvious sheetrock patchwork, with the largest patch located on the kitchen ceiling. In addition, some of the walls are showing marks and gouges, which also indicates signs of abuse. The outside furniture seemed sporadically placed or thrown by the wind, and left in their final resting place or overlooked. To me, it's another obvious sign of neglect and a lack of attention to detail.
The lot that the house sits on is small and in close quarters with neighboring homes. The driveway is only wide enough for a single vehicle, and can only accommodate 3 or 4, depending on their size. The road that it's on is also too narrow for street parking.
My biggest (and most inexcusable) complaint was that a large piece of the roof above an upstairs bedroom window was peeling off. Due to the endless wind here, the loose piece of attached shingles repeatedly lifted and slammed against the plywood roof, causing a very loud banging sound throughout the house. This noise was relentless and non-stop. It was as if the roof was under construction. As a result, our enjoyment was hindered and none of my guests were able to sleep. When we advised the owner, he advised that he was unaware of the issue, only offering an empty apology. It is impossible that anyone who prepared this house prior to our stay could have been unaware of the issue. Given the rental price, it is utterly inexcusable.
Conclusion:
Despite my generous two-star rating, this property does has a lot to offer. If it were not for the roof issue coupled with the owner's empty apology, I would have given this house a higher rating. I expected better or partial compensation.

As anyone who has stayed at Seneca Bungalow knows, I carefully designed the lake house and take pride in sharing the cottage with guests.
I am alarmed to have received a 2 rating for the past New Year’s weekend stay (and my only review that is not a 5).
To respond, I will directly quote all communication I had with the guests and reviewer of Seneca Bungalow.
On Saturday December 30th at 1:16pm I received the following text:
“Hi, house is beautiful we love it! Perfect weekend away. Just wanted to let know the screen on the sliding door was ripped but you probably already know that since everything is perfectly placed”
On Monday January 1st I received the following text:
“Hi Calvin, the house is locked up and we are heading out. I wanted to provide some feedback, the house was great but unfortunately a potion of your shingles are ripped up and flapping guessing you were not aware of this so we wanted to let you know before you have any leakage or permanent damage to the roof. The back dormer are loose and are constantly slamming down onto the roof and we were not able to get much sleep either night.”
And my response 14 minutes after receiving the text:
“Thank you for letting me know.. Oh no that is awful about sleep and roof. I will go and check out today. Thank you and safe travels!!
The above texts were the only correspondence I had with the guest. I immediately had the roof looked into by the builder - and no shingles were loose. I have stayed at the lake house and have had guests stay at Seneca Bungalow since and all have had peaceful nights (how one would expect at the lake”.
I am honestly puzzled by this review and continue to strive to provide amazing accommodations and experiences in the Finger Lakes! It is unfortunate that one guest did not feel so, but the other 99.99% of the time, I receive thank you emails and texts, as well as MANY return guests!!
I hope this helps offer some insight!

This was our 4th stay, and we can’t say enough about how wonderful this home and its host is. It’s always spotlessly clean and maintained, and the layout works perfectly for our group of four couples. Location on the lake is perfect, and close to some of our favorite winery stops. Top notch all around, thank you Calvin for sharing this gem with us. Already looking forward to stay #5!
Amazing view, beautiful, spotless (and I am very hard to please in that department) and hassle free. Calvin was great to deal with. Can’t wait to go back!
This house is even more beautiful than the pictures show. The outdoor space is also larger than it looks in the pictures and so incredibly beautiful- right on the lake.
The house was fully stocked with adequate linens and everything you could need in the kitchen.
The home is clean and modern, plenty of space for a crowd.
Communication with the owner Calvin was seamless and prompt.
I would definitely recommend this home and working with Calvin for anyone looking in this area.
This house was great. The back yard set up was better then the on line pictures. We were able to kayak and swim. The kitchen was well stocked. We were pleasantly surprised that the bunk beds were twins instead. Just for your information there is one bathroom upstairs, one in the master downstairs and one by the front door.
First time to the finger lakes what can I say it was one of our most memorable vacations as a whole family would definitely return to the same house Thank You Calvin
The house was even better in person than the photos. Was a great location and the house itself was bigger then it appears.
The house easily fit the 10 of us.
Would highly recommend. My only note would be to add some shower hooks in the bathrooms
We were lucky enough to enjoy this past week at the Seneca Bungalow! The pictures of the house were accurate! We were able to walk from the back porch to the lake, enjoyed coffee by the lake and had a fabulous time!
Our last stay was in October 2019. We loved it then and we were very happy and grateful that Calvin and VRBO accommodated our request to move our June 2020 reservation to June 2021 due to Covid.
The new improvements (patio, dock) were great !
Our stay was incredible! The house was spotless and the view looking out on the lake was breathless! The whole check in and check out process was simple. We would definitely stay again!!
We spent most of a week at the bungalow and found it to be every bit as lovely as described. There were just two of us and a pup, so we only used the main level of the house. The huge windows allow for maximum lake view and sunshine, with blinds when you don't want the sun coming in. We were on a work/vacay combo trip, so the reliable and fast wifi made for a smooth week. The kitchen has literally everything you'd need to prepare meals - more tools and gadgets than we have at home. The lake was shallow in front of the house making it easy in/out, especially with the dog. Shopping and dining were plentiful in Geneva (about a 15 min drive) but capacity restrictions meant carry out only on this trip. The steps in and out of the house were taller than average, so those with short legs or old knees will find them a little challenging. All in all, we had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to choose this as home base for another Finger Lakes adventure!

Born, raised and LOVE the Finger Lakes!! Love sharing Seneca Bungalow with guests. I have always been passionate about Real Estate and have made it my career. I own and manage a few Vacation Rentals and am the Owner/Broker of a boutique real estate brokerage.
Why they chose this property
This "property" has been in the family since the 1950's as my grandparents build the first "summer structure" on the property. When an opportunity arose for me to purchase the property, I did not hesitate. I purchased the property in 2011 and completed construction of Seneca Bungalow in 2013 after a complete demo of the original "summer structure" that my grandparents had built.
What makes this property unique
Location - Location - Location. Close proximity to Geneva, near many great wineries and breweries. The lakehouse has a great level beach, and is perfectly designed to build great memories. Whether the fire on the beach after an amazing sunset. Sitting on the porch relaxing. The well equipped and designed bungalow. THE PROPERTY IS WITHOUT A DOUBT SURE TO PLEASE!!
