Our stay was very restful. We were not bothered by road noise as it was either quiet or not noticeable. Kitchen and bathroom were impeccable. The back yard feels very quiet and peaceful. There seemed to always be a nice breeze in the trees and so many little bunnies and birds around.
Been vacationing in Wellfleet for over 25 years. Always enjoy, but this cottage and setting was idyllic. We loved the decor, the renovated kitchen and bath, and the screened in dining area. Everything was perfect. We were in harmony with nature. And Scott was so attentive. Hated to leave. Can’t wait for next year! Brilliant.
This was my fourth stay at the cottage and it didn’t disappoint. The location is great. Love the views of Blackfish Creek from the back of the house. The vibe is low key and mellow. We used the new gas grill a lot and enjoyed all of the grilled fish. It is a very peaceful place. Scott was a great host - excellent communicator! I hope to return again.
A quaint, rustic cottage in a beautiful location which is perfect for rest and relaxation. It's ideally situated for biking on the Rail Trail so you can leave your car behind and cycle to many beaches and swimming ponds.
Classic Cape Cottage with Updated Kitchen and Bathroom
What a beautiful spot, nestled in the trees, overlooking Black Fish Creek. Comfortable cottage, well appointed
kitchen. We really enjoyed sitting out back and watching the sunset while the birds put on a show. Loved the outdoor shower!
Captain’s Cottage & property is a lovely & special property!
This was our first VRBO rental experience and it was great! Scott - our contact , was attentive, organized and positive. The cottage had such artistic flair and the energy all around it was wonderful! It felt like rediscovering our beloved Wellfleet of 24 Summers all anew!

Glad you enjoyed your stay at the Captain's Cottage! We loved having you and hope you will return!
We could not have asked for more. The cottage itself is an old fashioned Cape Cod cottage with a nicely updated kitchen and bath. The location was quiet and secluded but close to beaches and restaurants. Scott was great with any questions. Really a perfect place if you are looking for relaxation, peace and quiet.
Every morning, first thing, my wife and I went to the chairs and bench overlooking the the marsh. What a way to start the day! We had a bunch of crisises in our life and this was a perfect place to recuperate. The house was comfortable, somewhat rustic and also beautiful. A great stay!
Sweet cottage! Small, but just right for a couple. Pristinely clean and well stocked with everything that could be needed. Great charm and character, and close to everything on the outer Cape. Lovely outdoor space, with sunset views, and a screen porch for eating. Only encountered one mosquito near the marsh after dark. Loved it, thanks Scott
We were able to both "get away from it all" at this cottage lost in time and also quickly join the line at the addictive PG Boulangerie or popular Bagel Hound nearby. The Cape light, the marsh right by the house plus the sunsets over it, the bike trail and the evocative White Cedar Swamp - both right across Rt. 6, the 15 bike ride to beautiful White Crest beach and 10 mins. more to Beachcomber, host Scott's quick responses - all contributed to a WONDERFUL week at the Cape.
The cottage is charming and cozy. It was the best of all worlds - we had the quiet seclusion of being surrounded by nature and being in walking distance of the CCRT. Scott was a wonderful host immediately responsive to any of our questions. While the house is right off of Rt 6 giving us easy access to go all over the Cape, it had unexpected privacy tucked back and away. Our 23 yr old was fascinated by the architecture & all 4 us are eager to come back again. The fans were were perfect even with the heat - plenty of ventilation.
We spent two weeks at this cottage and loved every minute we were there.
The setting is beautiful, surrounded by nature, with bunnies and chipmunks strolling around the property in the mornings and in the evenings.
The location is great, pretty close to Macguire Landing Beach , Beachcomber and White Crest beaches.
We will definitely consider going back. We love Cape Cod and this property made us love it even more.
The hosts were welcoming and helpful.
A+.
We were overwhelmed bu the beauty of this house and its surroundings. Birds and rabbits and sunsets and breathtaking mornings. Incredibly beautiful and peaceful, and amaizing how it is close to route 6 yet feels totally remote and enchanting. Scott was a great host, responding promptly to our needs. We will return. Thank you!
This was my third stay at the cottage on Blackfish Creek. We enjoyed every minute - it is such a relaxing atmosphere. The cottage is rustic and very comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with counter space for prep work. We ate all of our meals on the screened in porch. The outdoor shower is amazing! Enjoyed grilling seafood on the outdoor grill. Scott was very responsive and helpful. Very quiet despite being close to the highway. It is an easy car ride to the beaches in Wellfleet Center. I hope to return next year.
The cottage is charming. A mix of old and new Cape Cod. The grounds are amazing.
My husband and I had a wonderful visit to Scott’s cottage. It is a perfect mix of old and new Cape Cod. While there is no ac the breezes move well through the cottage and fans were provided. The WiFi was great and having a smart tv meant we could keep up our binging with a glass of wine once the sun set. Scott was an excellent communicator. When we arrived everything was spotless. We hope to return as my artist husband found the spot so inspiring and because of good WiFi I could still connect with the office.

Thank you for staying in the Captain's Cottage. Hope you can come back soon!
Our time at the Captain's Cottage couldn't have been better. The setting by the marsh was magical, and we were treated to glorious sunsets and soaring birds almost every day. The cottage is adorable, better than the photos, with a well-stocked kitchen which was important for us because we cooked each evening, comfortable beds and a wonderful screened porch. The outdoor shower was fabulous with great water pressure and a view to die for. Most of all, we found our host, Scott, to be incredibly kind and responsive to every question we had. We would absolutely recommend, even with the occasional noise from nearby Rte 6, this cottage felt a world away. Hope to return next summer!

Thank you for staying at The Captain's Cottage! So glad you enjoyed our little slice of heaven in South Wellfleet!
This was my second time renting this property. I wasn’t disappointed. I love the rustic feel of the house. It is so comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and had any utensil I was looking for. We used the outside gas grill a lot for several kinds of fish as well as steak. I love the backyard and marsh. Scott was so responsive and helpful. The week went by very quickly. I’d love to return.
It was wonderful, the cottage was adorable and surrounding land gorgeous. Loved the privacy of the property. The sunsets were stunning overlooking the marsh.
The landlords were very responsive. Only issue (which we knew in advance) was no air conditioning. The weather was great most of week, but the heatwave the last two days was intense and challenging for sleep. We asked for an extra fan which they brought immediately and helped. Ceiling fans would make a huge difference if possible. However, most nights were very comfortable. The screened in porch was wonderful! Look forward to staying there again.
Thanks

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! Summers on the Cape growing up and until the last few years never required a/c but summer of 2021 and 2022 we have had sustained high temps and drought so some a/c will be in the Cottage's near future.
This is a unique, adorable, very private-feeling fairy-tale cottage set on a grassy lawn on the banks of a salt marsh, facing the sunset. (Mosquitos were NOT a problem.) Lots of birds and bunnies. Our family of two parents and two adult children spent two weeks here in August and had a great time. The owner, Scott, was cheerful, helpful, and a pleasure to interact with.
The cottage itself is very sweet, with a charming rustic feel but a modern, renovated kitchen and bath. The photos are accurate. We ate all our meals either on the screen porch (hard to find) or at the picnic table located on the expansive lawn.
The location in Wellfleet is great. It is located within a fairly short bike ride to the ocean and bay beaches and freshwater ponds, and we did a lot of kayaking within a short drive and on site in the salt marsh. The town of Wellfleet is about a 10 minute drive. Having a French bakery (PB Boulangerie Bistro) nearby was a plus, with short lines in the afternoon and evening.
We were initially worried the cottage would be too close to Rt 6, but we quickly adapted to the faint background noise. Though we are VERY sound-sensitive people, it DID NOT BOTHER US ONE BIT or diminish our sense of peace and quiet in this lovely setting. We would definitely come here again.

Thank you for staying at The Captain's Cottage! Please come again!
Wonderful rustic cottage in the center of Cape Cod
We loved this little rustic cottage in Wellfleet, and were lucky to find a place so close to everything. Even during the worst traffic, you're about 30 minutes from just about everything, including the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and Provincetown. There's an abundance of beaches, restaurants and stores within ten minutes of the place.
Our weather was perfect, but note that if it was hot, you would be dealing with extremely hot temperatures in the cottage, as there's no AC. In fact, it would get hot during the day, so in the morning we had fans going in every room so that it was cool and aired out when we would return in the evening.
ONE NOTE FOR OUT-OF-STATERS: I'm sure folks from Massachusetts know that to rent on CC means to bring your own bedsheets and towels. The owner does list this in the instructions, but there's a lot of info there that I decided to look at two days before travel, which is on me. For a bit over $100, you can rent sheets and two towels from a local dry cleaner, or pack your own (I had to pack my own since I was too late to rent). I've never heard of this, but the fact that a local business offers such a service shows that it's likely a well known practice in Massachusetts.
The home is quite rustic, in the sense that it has a wonderfully weathered look. I saw from the one bad review that this freaked people out--you can keep your pristine hotels and cottages that are basically half million dollar homes, my wife and I loved this place completely.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay in our cottage and hope you return! There is A/C on the first floor located in the main bedroom which cools the bedroom and living room nicely! Perhaps you had the drapes closed and didn't notice it! Next time...Our one bad review was from a con artist and his wife who tried to get out of paying as they were offered a room elsewhere with a family member - it happens.
The cottage is just across Blackfish Creek from the home where my family summered for thirty years. I wanted a Wellfleet immersion experience., so the cottage was perfect.
It is modern in important ways, rustic in others..
Be prepared to enjoy beautiful dark nights, gorgeous sunsets,
It is a joy to stay at Scott's place. The cottage has an understated, timeless quality that is rare to find. I love everything about it, from the older spring mattresses, to the defunct call bell in the main bedroom, the dowels that prop the original windows, the spare Duravit fixtures in the kitchen and bath, and a fairly well-stocked kitchen. The outdoor shower and the marsh view are also highlights.
This was our second stay at Captain’s Cottage. We love so much about it…The view across the marsh, spectacular sunsets, the outdoor shower, the privacy, and having almost everything we need in their well stocked kitchen. The owner lives adjacent to the cottage and is very responsive to any needs we had, both prior and during our stay. The cottage offers simplicity, aesthetics and an incredible sense of peace. Highly recommend!
