About this property
Glamping Dome w/Fire Pit, WiFi, King Bed & Bath
Summary:
Orion is a luxe glamping dome—ideal for unwinding beneath dazzling, star-filled skies. This one-of-a-kind escape blends comfort and adventure, with whitewater rafting, scenic hiking trails, fishing, and more just a short drive away.
The highlights:
- Relax on the deck
- Modern furnishings throughout the dome
- Roast s’mores around the fire pit
- Stream movies or take video calls on fast WiFi
The Space:
Orion, our loft-style luxe glamping dome, places you at the highest point—right beneath a crystal-clear sky filled with constellations. Designed with stargazers in mind, Orion features expansive panoramic windows, a loft bed positioned for prime night-sky viewing, and a cozy firepit perfect for evening star shows.
Whether you’re admiring the Milky Way on a warm summer night, watching shooting stars streak across crisp autumn skies, or enjoying the magic of winter constellations, Orion makes every season unforgettable. This unique retreat blends breathtaking mountain views with modern comforts, stylish furnishings, and thoughtful touches throughout—so you can connect with nature without sacrificing luxury.
The dome includes:
- A cozy king bed & queen (loft type)
- An indoor full bathroom with a shower
- A well-equipped kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, & coffee maker
- Smart TV where you can quickly sign in to your favorite streaming service
- WiFi strong enough for streaming movies and taking video calls
- Portable AC and heat to keep you comfortable
Outside, you’ll also find:
- Deck with mountain-view seating
- Outside fire pit with plenty of seating
- Grill on the deck while enjoying the great outdoors
Please note: Orion is part of a large private retreat, with one yurt and another dome nearby. One dome is about 100 feet away, and the yurt is over 400 feet away. While you may see other guests at these properties during your stay, Orion is still quite secluded — with your own private deck and fire pit. BTW, if you’re interested in booking both domes, please let us know!
During inclement weather, such as snow or ice, you may be required to have 4-wheel drive or tire chains. We also recommend Travel Insurance during the winter months. We do not give refunds for road conditions that are out of our control.
While you are surrounded by 35 pristine, wooded acres, there is a state route to the north that can lead to noise, especially in the winter months with no leaves on the trees. For this reason, we have a sound machine on the bedside table for a great night’s sleep.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Beyond the dome itself, there’s plenty to do just a short drive away:
- Love the outdoors? Lost River State Park has nearly 4,000 acres of dense forest and miles of hiking trails (15 min drive away)
- Lost River: Depending on recent rains, the river can be clear and slow-moving or a little faster. It's great for a scenic stroll along the riverbanks or putting some water shoes on and dipping your toes in. It's a flourishing trout river and is great for fly-fishing.
- Looking for good restaurants & shopping? Both Wardensville and Lost River are two small towns just 10 mins from The Canopy, and both have fantastic cafes, restaurants, and art shops
- In the summer, head over to Trout Pond where you’ll find a small beach for swimming and fishing – perfect for families! (about 30 mins away)
This area of West Virginia has so much to offer, and The Canopy is the perfect place – whether you want to explore the area, or just cozy up at the yurt and take in the sunsets.
We’d love to host you!

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
