About the host

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Rachael, owner of The Pumpkin Pasture and a mom of four grown kids. This home holds decades of family memories. It was my childhood home and where my kids did some growing up too, which makes sharing it especially meaningful. I love paddle boarding on nearby lakes, catching live theater, performing in live theater, and getting lost in a good true-crime podcast. I have a not-so-secret love of pickles and will always defend pineapple on pizza. Whether I'm enjoying a cozy night in with comfy pajamas or out in nature, I love helping people feel welcome in Sacramento.

Why they chose this property

One of the things I love most about this neighborhood is how balanced it feels. It is centrally located, yet grounded, with a true residential feel that makes it easy to settle in and feel at home.

The location offers easy access to multiple parts of the region, including Sacramento, Roseville, and Folsom, making it an ideal home base for guests who want flexibility in where they work, explore, or spend their free time. This location makes it easy to move around without feeling far from everything.

Outdoor recreation is a big part of what makes this area special. Nearby lakes and trails offer opportunities for walking, biking, kayaking, or simply spending time outside after a long day. There are multiple parks in the area, including one that is walkable from the property and features a dog park and pickleball courts.

Shopping and dining are close and convenient, with a mix of local favorites and well known options nearby. Several grocery stores are just minutes away. Whether you prefer cooking at home or grabbing a quick meal on a busy day, everything you need is close by.

The neighborhood also offers easy access to some of the region’s most loved destinations. Historic Folsom is just a short drive away, with its charming streets, shops, and trails. The Old Sacramento Waterfront is also easily accessible and offers riverfront views, museums, dining, and a sense of local history that makes Sacramento unique.

Neighbors are friendly and respectful, and the area feels safe and well cared for. It is the kind of place where people walk their dogs, greet each other in passing, and take pride in their homes. That sense of stability and comfort is something I have always appreciated, and it is a big part of why this property has remained a welcoming place for guests over the years.

This neighborhood provides the perfect mix of convenience, recreation, and that hard to define feeling of being at home.

What makes this property unique

What makes this property truly stand out is that it has always been a home first. Built with intention and care, and lovingly maintained over decades, it offers a sense of comfort and thoughtfulness that is hard to find in short term rentals designed only for turnover.

The space is fully private, with its own entrance through a gated backyard, yet it remains connected to the main home in a way that feels grounded and welcoming. It shares just one wall with the main house, providing privacy while still benefiting from the care and attention that comes from being part of a well loved family property.

Unlike many rentals, this unit is set up to support real daily living, not just quick stays. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking actual meals, the layout offers separate living and sleeping spaces, and storage is generous enough for guests who are staying awhile. Every detail has been considered with comfort and functionality in mind.

The outdoor space adds another layer of livability. A private, fenced backyard provides a place to step outside, reset, and enjoy fresh air, with an outdoor sink that makes everyday tasks and pet care easy and convenient.

There is also a sense of continuity here that guests often notice. This space has welcomed family, friends, and long term visitors for years, and that history shows in the way it feels settled, cared for, and intentionally maintained. It is not a place that feels temporary or impersonal.

Overall, what sets this property apart is the combination of privacy, thoughtful design, and genuine care. It is a comfortable, fully equipped home base that allows guests to settle in, establish routines, and feel at ease, whether they are here for work, an extended stay, or a mix of both.
