Water Front View, South Facing Horizon Views, Water Sports And Birds.
The layout of this home is equally comfortable for a family, a couple or several couples or friends who want to spend time together... yet also have time to themselves. Throughout the year, the two river facing porches and front lawn provided places to gather with others or enjoy alone. The 100 foot dock with 16x20 sitting area allows for a place to lounge in the sun, watch the night sky, launch a boat or a kayak, swim or just float.

Awesome Views
This is a great home for big families or large groups. Thank you again for sharing your home.
Our family had a great time staying here. The property had everything we needed and the owner was very responsive to any questions we had. The weather was unusually windy which made boating challenging. Fortunately we were able to catch alot of fish right from the dock.
This is our second year at this house and we love it! Our family was looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life, slow down, and reconnect…this home was the perfect place! The house was clean, with plenty of space for our big family of 7. The upstairs was a perfect hang out for the kiddos and had multiple options for sleeping arrangements. The sun porches were great for coffee, reading and watching the water. We fished everyday off the dock catching all sorts of amazing fish. There were dolphins swimming in front of the home every morning and the sunsets were amazing. The host was wonderful, helping us along the way and very responsive to any questions we had. Would stay here again and again. Wonderful!
We were a family of eight adults. The spaciousness of the home made our stay very comfortable! The home is as described and was very clean. We had a blast fishing from the pier although when we were there the weather wasn’t great and the fish weren’t biting as well as we had hoped. George was easy to reach and always answered questions quickly. Hopefully we’ll get a chance to return during warmer weather. BGS

Great Location! The odor of mothballs and the musty smell in the bathroom by the two bedrooms is unacceptable. I had to clean the kitchen and bathroom surfaces to feel comfortable. We were left a note from the owner stating… “We have just noticed the bottom of the dishwasher has water in it. Trying to figure out issue but push the cancel button and it will drain. Otherwise, dishwasher is fine.” When I opened the dishwasher, the smell was horrendous!!! It was decided NOT to use it. The dishwasher also leaked water on the floor. We placed towels twice before shutting off water supply. There were some positive things. The upstairs game room is very nice and spacious. There is a new air fryer. The sunsets are amazing and the view of the dolphins was spectacular. For the price we paid for a week, I don’t expect to clean upon arrival and babysit a leaking dishwasher.

So sorry about the dishwasher. Please contact your host immediately so we can repair, give refund in cost or refund your stay so you can rent elsewhere. And yes- there may be a slight smell of mothballs as we treat periodically for moths to protect the large wool Persian rug in primary suite. I’m also sorry you didn’t think it was worth the cost. The home is large and set up for many more people than two and has many amenities like kayaks, paddle boards, bikes and more which make it worth the stay for most folks.

Relaxing
We had a lot of fun. Very relaxing and good fishing and eating. Although I had to clean house prior to enjoying anything. I told the owner, but he assured me all was clean, so I had no choice but to do it myself. I’m not a clean fanatic but some things are just necessary. He could have just said he was sorry, and I would’ve been ok. Instead I was accused of lying.

Needs some TLC
The home needs some TLC and routine maintenance . Upon arrival you can smell moth balls or musty smell when you open the door. None of the issues are very bad but it was just not as I expected. Most of the issues are a simple fix. The house is a home & you can tell it is older. It seems to have foundation issues too The owner answered messages in a timely manner There couldn’t have been a list of where items are located supply wise. Had to search for items and supplies. Ended up just purchasing some things instead of waiting to find them. Pros- Peaceful on water location, good dock with crabbing and fishing. Cons - Not clean as expected- needs a deep cleaning- Kitchen oven is VERY dirty & Kitchen equipment needs to be updated & cleaned - Bathroom in main bedroom not clean-Tooth paste sink, black floating dirt in toilet and hair in shower (told owner when I found out) & hall bathroom ceiling leaking. - No curtains or blinds on bedroom windows in master bedroom which can be seen from the dock. You can close the curtain on the porch but frustrating so we just changed in bathroom. - Lawn chair frames are rusted and falling apart There is a hole which is partially covered by grass to the left of the dock that I stepped in and bruised my foot.We collected trash, washed towels and brought dirty sheets to laundry. I don’t think the rental is worth the amount it rents for unfortunately but all in all we enjoyed our family time. -

Thank you for your comments we will check after cleaners more closely. The home is on a slab and no foundation issues. The house dates from 1995 and is our cabin at the sound. The house is very well furnished especially with kitchen items. The outside furniture has recent cushions which are comfortable. This renter reaped the extra benefits of paddle boards, kayaks, paddle boat, fishing equipment, game table (pool, air hockey, ping pong) and a dozen other outdoor chairs. It is rare to find an on the water property with swimable water at such a price for 8 people This latest review was quite different from the previous a week before. I’m sorry you experienced hitting a bear and damaging your bumper.
The location of the property is perfect! Not a lot happening, and nearby Belhaven is a fantastic little NC town. The house is very spacious, and with three families were never in each other's way. Will definitely go again!
The house was clean and was plenty big enough for our family of eight 5 adults and 3 children kitchen was well equipped the central air had trouble keeping the house cool but it was in the high 90's with heat index of 100 all week my husband was a little disappointed that he didnt catch a lot of crabs or fish but but over all we really enjoyed our week very relaxing
Great water location. Fishing off the pier was fun and successful. The large enclosed back porch was great for dining, playing games and having morning coffee and afternoon drinks with a view of the river and protected from insects.
The large main living space allowed our grandchildren to spread out and play while being supervised by the parents.
The master suite downstairs was spacious and well appointed. The two other bead rooms on the first floor were functional but were not clean when we arrived. We contacted the owner who immediately addressed the situation to our satisfaction.
The fourth bead room upstairs was very large and accommodated a family of four with two infants very well.
The kitchen was very well stocked with a lot of cookware and serving dishes.
Our extended family enjoyed our stay. There was plenty of room for 9 of us to spread out. The hosts were attentive via email and we really hope to come back for another visit this summer!
Incredible house with a great floor plan. We could not have picked a better place for a relaxing week. House is secluded, with the closest town 20-25 min away, but we’re made aware of this before the stay. The owner was easy to communicate with, and provided us with a large list of local activities, along with those that were a bit fit here away. The view was incredible. We enjoyed watching the ospreys bring fish back and forth to the nest. We tried out hand at crabbing with success. We also got to observe a pod of dolphins swimming Down the river. I would highly recommend and my family and I will defiantly book agin in the future.
Love this property, easy access to great fishing. Caught many Red Drum and Sheep head. Enjoyed the layout of this house. We each had our private areas. Secluded property perfect large family gatherings. Absolutely would rent again!

Colleen and her family were wonderful guests, who left our house very clean and in great shape. We would love to have them visit again!
The owner was great to work with. The property was clean, comfortable and spacious. Our family had a great time fishing and crabbing from the dock. The crabbing was great and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.
This property was exactly as advertised! The setting on the river is gorgeous and we caught tons of crabs and fish. The house had great space for our family and we appreciated being able to bring the dogs. The kitchen was very well-stocked. The home could easily accommodate more than one family, if needed.
The owner was very responsive to questions before and throughout our trip. We did end up having several questions because the guidebook to the house was a bit out of date . But the owner always responded within minutes, which was very much appreciated. This was the most attentive owner we've worked with on a rental!
The home was a bit of a drive from stores, but we knew to expect that so it wasn't a problem.
The only slight negative was that the home was not as clean upon check-in as expected (a few dirty towels left behind and dusty surfaces that required us to clean them).
Overall we had a great week and would be happy to stay here again.
This was not a place for me to stay. We were renovating a golf course in Chocowinity and my husband's crew stayed in the house. I am the one that communicated with Mr.. George. He did everything he said he would do. According to our crew and very pleasant place to stay. Would definitely rent again.

About the host
Hosted by George Bryan
Love of sailing and the water brought Ann, George Phoebe and Mark to buy this retreat together hours from their home in North Carolina. It has proven a welcome retreat for family and friends. Its layout has provided ample room for multi-generational family reunions as well as times to retreat with other couples and friends.
Why they chose this property
The proximity to the river and the two front porches that allow for views in any weather was the drawing point for this home. There are river views from all rooms. The 100 foot dock with 16 X20 sitting area at the end of the dock provides space for fishing, crabbing swimming, kayaking or sunning. There is a zip line to tie up your motor boat. Nearby landings to launch a boat. Amazing sunsets year round.
What makes this property unique
Sandy bottom allows great swimming, fishing and kayaking. Bring your paddle board. Can see sunrise and sunset from the front of the house. The water is always changing and we love to see the dolphins pass by.
