Getting Around:
Guests will need to make sure they have their own vehicle. Summer months are fine with a small car but four wheel drive is a must in the winter!
Other Things to Note:
What to bring with you!- You're coming to a wilderness area to vacation and if you plan your vacation well you will have a positive experience. In the summertime May and through the middle of June can tend to be cooler early morning and toward the evening hours. Make sure to bring a jacket and long pants you can change into when needed. Bring a pair of tie up shoes to protect your feet. Shoes likes flip flops or sandals will not protect your feet when you are out exploring. Layering your clothing is a good idea and then if your too warm you can take off clothing as needed. At least this way when departing your cabin early morning to go site seeing you will have what you need with you. July and August are pretty warm and you should still bring a light jacket. The rest of the year you will want to bring heavier jackets and long underwear, snow suits etc. You will need to bring your private toiletries like bar soap and shampoo as we do not provide this for you. Cabins are equipped with everything else you should need except food of course. Snow tires and four-wheel-drive are recommended for traveling in Eastern Idaho during the winter. Road conditions can change quickly, and even well-traveled highways are occasionally closed by blizzards or high winds. Before setting out, check the Transportation Department's website or call 511 for an automated, up-to-the-minute status of all thoroughfares. Wise motorists will also carry emergency gear (shovel, snack bars, water, blankets) in their vehicles to be ready for any contingency. Coming Snowmobiling? A reminder to anyone traveling back country areas whether skiing, snowmobiling or hiking: Remember the time of year, exercising all back country cautions. Take necessary equipment and survival gear when venturing into the back country. If you have a GPS and cell phone, be sure to take them with you, but do not rely on them entirely for a safe rescue if you find yourself in trouble or stranded. Cell phones should be kept close to your body & turned off to keep the battery full, so it's not searching for a signal & running the battery down. Avalanche Transceivers and equipment, knowing what the avalanche conditions are, and knowing skills to save lives are a must for everyone entering back country riding or traveling. Plan ahead. Make sure you know the area you are going into before heading into it. If you find yourself in trouble, stop, take a look around you, and do not go any further. The further you go the more complicated and dangerous it is to get yourself to safety, also making rescue efforts more difficult and dangerous. Make mental notes in relation to any physical features or landmarks that would assist in your rescue. Make a plan, stick to your plan, narrow the riding area, & most of all...let someone know WHERE you are planning to go!

The location was perfect and we enjoyed the stay. The property management was very responsive and were able to resolve anything we had issues during the stay
You're property was perfect for a large group such as ours! The house had everything we needed! The best part was the mama moose and her two babies that hung around for days!
Main floor master perfect for aging parents. Nice deck to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Had a visit from momma moose and her calf. Great place!

Loved the neighborhood
The hot tub was disgusting even after complaining and the company sent people over to clean the hot tub it was so dirty you still couldn’t use it. If you’re going to advertise a brand new hot tub it should be in good working condition. The cabin had no complimentary soaps or coffee that’s usually pretty standard at a VRBO. Master bedroom bed is very uncomfortable. This cabin is not worth the price.

Thanks for the feedback. We're very sorry that you had an unpleasant experience. The hot tub is checked prior to each arrival but regardless we did come over to clean and service it again for you. We wanted to make sure that you were taken care of. Not every Vrbo provides shampoo or coffee. This is listed in the information that you received so, it should not have been a surprise that it was not provided. Again, thank you for the feedback.

Great Cabin!!!!
Wonderful cabin in the Shotgun area. Everything worked in the house. Unfinished basement and garage were not functional at all so there is really only one family room area on the main floor plus a little loft area upstairs. Kitchen was functional and worked great. Snow hadn't been plowed when we showed up but it had snowed about 9 inches the day we arrived. I was glad I took my 4 wheeler with a plow to do it before we pulled the snowmobile trailers in or we would have got stuck for sure. It was kind of tight quarters to maneuver 2 snowmobile trailers into the driveway but we got it. Lots of beds in the place so that worked great. Loved the winter views from the cabin into the woods. Very picturesque for sure. Wi-fi worked good and hot tub was there but it needed to be turned up. TV service was hit and miss but we didn't spend much time doing that. Highly recommend this place.

Hi Brett, thanks for leaving us a review.
We are glad you liked the cabin. Snow fall here has been crazy over the holidays. we were getting like a foot or more of snow everyday. Perfect for a winter wonderland but a nightmare for our snow removal companies to keep up that's for sure. Please come see us again soon.
Best Regards,

Cabin was very clean and well stocked with all supplies and linens that you could need. The hot tub is old and kept overheating but we still enjoyed it (mgr sent someone to look at it immediately). Both sliding glass doors on the back would not lock so we used wooden sticks instead (we did not mention this to Mgr as I'm sure they knew and that is why the sticks were in the doors already) And the internet/cable TV went out for 2 days (Mgr offered to have someone look at it but we declined). We truly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Perfect size for our family of 5. Comfortable, properly equipped with everything we would need during our stay and perfectly secluded yet close enough to Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Especially loved upon first entry having a few lights on and the fireplace running. Such a welcomed site after two full days of driving!!
Unique, roomy, entirely comfortable, this house held eight of us easily. We took advantage of the large kitchen, living room, hot tub and basement ping pong table. This is a wonderful place and well worth bringing family together.
Overall we liked the cabin. The inside was cool with the open cabin feel. We loved the large trunks that were throughout it, giving it a unique look. My girls LOVED LOVED LOVED the loft area with the super cool spiral stair case. There was new carpet throughout & it was decorated nicely. It gave you the cozy cabin feel without being overboard. The couches were really comfy, and there was plenty of room for all of us to sit and relax. The deck was nice and the patio set was great to sit and enjoy our morning coffee. The fire pit area was cool with homemade benches and chairs made out of giant logs.
One morning we were lucky enough to see a momma moose and her calf. They literally walked right past the deck and around the cabin. They even stopped and allowed us to take pictures...from a distance of course.
Nothing about this cabin ruined our vacation, but there is some upkeep that needs to happen. One of the windows, granted it's up high, has several cracks in it. The outside is quite messy looking. There are old logs just laying around that have probably been there since it was built. We found dried up ramen noodles in the window sill/ledge of the living room, some of the dishes we pulled out of the cabinets were dirty, and the master bedroom mattress is pretty old and quite uncomfortable.
Overall we had a great time!
Wonderful cabin for our family vacation to Yellowstone. We enjoyed the natural wood construction and spiral staircase to the loft. Carpet was new and the cabin was very clean. We utilized the pans and dishes for breakfast every morning and were glad to have the dishwasher, coffee maker, and microwave. No A/C but the fans in every room and open windows provided a comfortable temperature in mid July. Would highly recommend!
Saw a moose and her calf right across the dirt road! Saw grizzlies and wolves at West Yellowstone, and had a Fun pontoon boat ride on Island Park Reservoir. Would definitely consider coming back!

Perfect for large groups!
This cabin was perfect to combine my family, my brother's family, and our parents! Sleeps and feeds 12 very easily. The hot tub, fire pit, and easy access to Island Park areas, ATV roads, and Yellowstone was perfect. The 40 minute drive to Yellowstone is worth staying in this cabin. The wrap around deck was my favorite. You could find sun or shade on the deck all day long. Although we kept away from them for the most part, the TVs, satellite, and wifi all worked great. Property is well maintained and well stocked. There are a couple of minor maintenance issues, like a broken screen, and one of the two outside staircases needs to be repaired, but did not hinder the experience at all - just signs of a house that lives through four seasons.

NOT a Luxury Cabin
This was advertised as a luxury cabin, and the price leads one to believe this cabin will be a "dreamy" experience. We were sorely disappointed. Our stay was in the middle of February, and the ONE thing we really cared about was a hot tub. We bypassed all of the much less expensive options, so we could spend the winter days & evenings relaxing in warmth. When we called to check in, a few hours before our arrival, we were informed that the hot tub was "down." Our children were extremely disappointed, but we consoled ourselves by remembering that this was advertised as a "Luxury" cabin, and that there were sure to be other worthwhile features. We were mistaken.
The layout of the cabin was fine, and it easily accommodates a group of 12, but beyond that was nothing exceptional AT ALL. In fact, I started taking pictures of all of the disgusting things we found. Soda cans under the reclining couches, tons of dead flies in the windowsills (keep in mind it's February -- months past fly season), dirty socks and nasty toys left by previous guests under beds and in corners, stains on the bed coverings. Not to mention the drain in the master bathroom, that must have been placed sideways in the sink to prevent clogs, but was just disgusting. Minutes after our arrival, the toilet on the main floor overflowed -- we could not get the water to stop running, and later found that the toilet seat prevents the "flusher" from returning to it's natural position, causing the water to run unceasingly. Our children wanted to play in the backyard, but the stairs from the deck were broken and roped off. As part of the checkout procedure, we were asked to wash all of our towels (in a LUXURY cabin), and start a load of sheets before we left. The washer got stuck in it's final cycle, and read "10 minutes" for over an hour, thus delaying our departure.
If we had not paid so much money, I would have had much lower expectations, but even if this cabin would have been a fair price, I would have had to give it 2-3 stars, for all the nastiness.
Renter Beware -- Spend your money elsewhere!!!

Family Reunion
We had a great time at the cabin! It was beautiful- even more so than I was expecting. The inside of the cabin is very nice, new and clean. We stayed here with 12 adults and 7 children. 6 adults and 2 kids slept in the lofts and we had some rough nights- I would recommend getting individual rooms for everyone. The lofts are not private enough that you can't hear everything that is going on in the cabin. Other than that, the cabin fit our family nicely. We loved the deck and the hot tub. The area is beautiful and the cabin is even more secluded than I had imagined. It was a perfect place for our reunion.

Rustic paradise
My friends and I just stayed at south fox for four days and the pictures don't do it justice! There was more than enough room for 7 men with all of our snowmobiling gear. We were very impressed with the inside of the cabin with all the "log home" features. You felt as if you were all alone out there but you had all the creature comforts of home with satellite tv and wireless intrernet. The only negative thing I have to say is that out stay felt too short. Not one of us wanted to leave. Having ridden snowmobile out in island park for many years now, the epic backcountry riding accessible off of Yale-Kilgore road was literally just minutes down the road. I will be staying here again for sure. This is the third cabin I have stayed in out in island park, and this one was by far the best. On a bit of a side note for the snowmobilers looking at this cabin. There was a 25' and a 28' enclosed snowmobile trailers parked in front of the cabin with ample room to turn around on the road when you get there. And the garage was nice for sleds that had to have repairs done after the day of riding.
