Delightful 2-bedroom cottage perfect for a revitalizing retreat in Brittany
Looking to enjoy a rural setting for repose or as a base to discover Brittany? You’ll love this authentic stone cottage in the midst of a wooded countryside replete with birds and scampering deer. This rustic gem set in the Oust valley in the area of Ruffiac is the perfect spot to relax and recharge your spirits. There’s ample opportunity for long walks or bicycling on forest paths or along the Nantes-Brest canal.
The property is a single cottage divided into two ground floor apartments with an unobstructed view of the countryside with closest neighbors being an adjacent farmer’s field and nearby windmills. There is a kitchen, a living room, two bedrooms(1 bed 140 x 190 and 2 beds 90 x 190) with shower, toilet and sink as well as a secure area for bicycles, and a private garden area with a table.
Malestroit offers grocery stores, boulangeries, butcher shops, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, doctors and pharmacies. Malestroit also features a farmer’s market on Thursday and Saturday mornings to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, cheese and meat. The city of Ruffiac, a 5-minute drive, has a fine traditional bakery that is worth a visit!
In the surrounding area, you can discover Vannes, well-preserved fortified royal city with half-timbered houses and narrow streets surrounding the cathedral; the medieval town of Rochefort-en-Terre overlooking the river of Arz, which was voted favorite town by the French in 2016; Malestroit, a medieval city well-known for its half-timbered houses, and an excellent walking town, is only a 10-minute drive; and La Gacilly, famous for its gardens, flowers and artisanal beauty products as well as the International Photo Festival. Josselin with its majestic castle on the river Oust is 30-minutes away. In the forest of Brocéliande, indulge in the legends of Merlin, the Lady of the Lake, and Sir Lancelot. At the forest’s edge, you can discover the neolithic menhirs of Monteneuf.
