About the host
Hosted by Tomi Vadset Richardson
Hello! I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, went to college in the Northeast, married a Canadian farmer, and have been a part of Camp Avalon my entire life! I love the outdoors and anything on the water (fishing, paddling, birdwatching, and just relaxing). Sharing Camp Avalon with new guests is a particular pleasure as this is a one-of-a-kind property that our family has tended for generations. If you love dialing down the noise, listing to nature, and unwinding with friends and family in a charming and rustic setting you will love Avalon as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
My great grandmother Jessie Gilbert started Camp Avalon around 1930 as a place for young girls to learn to love the outdoors and become strong individuals with character and integrity. Camp Avalon provided a respite from the city, natural pursuits on the water and in the woods, sports of all kinds, and a stunning location to play learn and form lasting friendships. Great East Lake is one of NH's finest lakes and Avalon has been a part of it's history for nearly a century.
What makes this property unique
Camp Avalon has 3 charming, rustic cabins, 2 docks on a beautiful point of land on the NH side of Great East Lake. It sits at the end of a long dirt road and feels like a step back in time. There is a sandy beach great for kids with a gentle entry to the water. It is the perfect place for family gatherings and friends to relax and play. Camp Avalon has been in our family for about 100 years. If you appreciate history, unplugging from the pace of life, and simple summer days and nights this place will become part of your history too!
