We love this place so much, and we were so happy to return for a second stay. It's private, cozy, and has everything we need. Hot tub stayed hot and functioning. Vacasa made sure all amenities were stocked and ready. We can't wait to be back!

Lovely Stay in Sea Ranch
Perfect property for a weekend getaway or even longer. The home is the perfect size for a couple, with a calming interior and all the amenities that you need. The property is great with wildlife coming right up to the windows. Feels secluded, with no view of neighbours from the main windows and the hot tub. The surrounding sea ranch community was amazing with so many walking trails to access just minutes drive from the property.

Lovely, cozy and private cottage
Serene and private cottage. Easy and friendly check in.
This was the perfect place for our anniversary celebration! Nature, space for our pup to explore and an awesome hot tub under the stars — we couldn’t have asked for more.
We had a lovely time in this property. It is quiet, secluded, and private. We loved the hot tub and fire place and lucked out with fantastic weather for our entire stay.
My partner, tiny dog, and I enjoyed the perfect vacation here. Vacasa had great and prompt communication, and they made sure everything was provided — including detergent for laundry, for dishwasher, dish soap and sponge, really nice smelling (and light) shower gel and hand soap, and more. Towels and bed linens were clean, and the place was so beautifully and tastefully put together. The sliding doors allowed the space to be fully open and spacious, and the day bed / nook by the windows was an amazing place to lounge. We had all that we needed to use the grill and kitchen, and we were so grateful the hot tub was functioning and hot! Loved how private and quiet the place was. And the surrounding neighborhood provided some breath-taking walks w the dog. We can’t wait to be back!
Lovely, loved seeing wildlife from front door. Great cool weather and hiking trails. I loved using the Sea Ranch Del Mar pool. Perfect for lap swimming!
Some more windows that actually open/ some fans, etc., would have helped with hottest days

wonderful house
so comfortable for 2 people and a dog. It's small, but not cramped. Great location and views. Everything works. The only downside for us was having to bring our own bedding and pillows because the house only has down pillows and blankets.

Quiet hideaway
This little cottage was extremely quiet, buried in the woods down a short, but easily navigated gravel driveway. (Our sedan had no problems with the driveway.) The hot tub was not within view of any neighbors. The road could not be heard either at night or during the day. Very peaceful.

The Perfect Birthday Weekend
This was the perfect getaway for my hubby's birthday weekend. The house is beautifully decorated, and we had everything we needed there. We were so surprised at how well organized everything was in the home. The bed was super comfy, although the kitchen was small, we had what we needed to bake a cake, and prepare a birthday dinner, it was great. The hot tub was the perfect way to end the day with a hot toddy, and to start the day with coffee. We took advantage of Links Golf Course, which is just across highway 1, you can also walk there from the house. We have stayed in many Sea Ranch homes in the past, but none of them had the charm, privacy and complete accommodations like this place did, thank you so much!
No one lives in this neighborhood. there is no community here. Gualala doesn’t have any restaurants, so bring your own to be completely chill. Privacy here is just off the charts. The natural beauty is unequaled and I’ve been a lot of places. A fabulous place to buy a summer home. Immersion in the natural beauty of the area is about your only entertainment. I want to thank the landlord of this unit for allowing us to have our pet. Right now this place is the cheapest deal for pet owner.

Cozy peaceful retreat
I debated between a property that had an ocean view and this property with a hot tub. So glad I chose Madrone Cottage! Stargazing from the hot tub was the ultimate in relaxation.
Instead of an ocean view and the endless wind on the water side of the highway, I was treated with absolute quiet, punctuated by bird song and turkey calls. The only neighbors I encountered were tiny bunnies and plump quail. The view is of a sun-dappled meadow, and a gorgeous Madrona tree.
This is no cookie cutter grey/shiplap/boho Wayfair decorated rental. The home is furnished with vintage furniture and as an artist I especially appreciated the quirky artwork. I only got to stay 2 nights, but it was so peaceful and comfortable that I felt like I had been away a week!

Great place…with a few watchouts
positives
- place has a great design with the wooden paneling and furniture
- the hot tub is big and worked well the one time we used it
- isolated area in nature with great trails (and a dog park!) close by
Negatives
- Lots of carpenter ants in the home and bigger bugs getting into the home even with all doors/windows closed.
- Some reviews said the kitchen was stocked with the basics but there was nothing there. the fridge was completely empty, with only a half bottle of olive oil in the pantry and salt.
- Only small pan for cooking. bring your own pans if you plan to cook.

Beautiful little home, unfortunate timing
This home was very peaceful for the three days my wife and I stayed there. Despite a small footprint everything is central and open with the ability to close off parts using the sliding paper “walls”. There is immediate access to trails and it feels entirely private, with no other homes or roads visible from inside. And the hot tub was LOVELY our first night.
The only negatives that didn’t come from bad luck were the kitchen being a little cramped (definitely a 1-person kitchen) with super dull knives (bring your own if you want to cook!), and the shower being a bit small with one of the paper walls as a bathroom “door” (hopefully you and your partner are comfortable being able to hear each other). These were honestly only minor annoyances though to a lovely experience.
The much larger issue was entirely separate from the home, and Madrone Cottage actually made it much more manageable than it may otherwise have been. About 12 hours after we arrived the power went out for all of Sea Ranch, and still hadn’t come back when we left. Luckily heat, stove, and hot water were all gas-powered with no fans, so other than using a lighter on the stove and buying ice for the fridge we were able to live mostly normally. The cottage even came supplied with candles and electric lanterns! Unfortunately the hot tub stopped heating without power.
Overall my wife and I had a lovely time, and would certainly recommend this house to others.

Small but large!
Perfect for a couple with a small dog. (Very nice) shoji screens can be arranged to the entire house is one big room. Very private cul de sac - especially when the house across the end is vacant. Very close to the best trail in Sea Ranch (the Azalea Loop Trail) for dog walks. The heater was out - they plan to replace it. Kind of nice relying on the wood stove (I guess I love playing with fire?). Small, nice, clean, kitchen equipped enough, bbq, nice house.
As advertised. Very comfortable, well situated, we’ll equipped

Restful Solitude
Perfect space to completely chill out for a few days. Very peaceful and relaxing! Made full use of the easy access to trails, BBQ, stereo, and hot tub. Very dog friendly community. Would definitely stay again.
This is a great property. The deer and wild turkeys come through by the property. Very nice to sit outside in chairs in the yard, or in the house looking out the many windows or in the hot tub on the deck . Very relaxing! We miss it and want to go back .

Wonderful cottage!
Small but very well stocked in the kitchen. Extra pillows and blankets. Very private with a nice hot tub and deck. We would stay again in a heartbeat. We’ve stayed at various houses for 20 years and by far, this is a favorite.
My wife and I were looking for a peaceful quite place to stay in Sea Ranch and this beautiful cottage at the end of a private drive was perfect! Very Zen indeed and quiet. there is a nice wooded area at the front with the mesmerizing Madrone out the back window. We found ourselves just meditating on the tree and were so inspired we both painted our own version. Plenty of great books to explore and the size of the cottage at about 800 square feet proved just perfect for the two of us. We have stayed at many places in Sea Ranch and this is a unanimous favorite! This is a special place to be sure and we came away very relaxed and inspired. Looking forward to another stay here.
