About the host
Hosted by Gbadegesin Obisesan
I am Gbade, and I host because I genuinely believe that the right space can turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.
I came to short-term hosting the way most people do, by staying in enough places that were almost right but not quite, and deciding to build something that closed the gap. Prather Ridge Estate is that attempt. Every bedroom is designed the way I would want to sleep. Every amenity is there because a group of twelve people actually needs it, not because it looked good on a listing.
I live and work outside Kentucky but I am deeply invested in this property and in every guest who walks through that green front door. I have a small, trusted local team on the ground who know the estate inside out and can handle anything that comes up quickly. When you message me, you hear back fast. When something needs attention, it gets attention.
A few things I want you to know before you arrive.
I take the Bourbon Trail seriously. I have done the distillery circuit myself and I know which tours are worth booking in advance, which restaurants in Bardstown are genuinely excellent and which ones coast on reputation, and which back roads make the drive between distilleries feel like part of the experience rather than a commute. If you want recommendations beyond the standard list, just ask. I am happy to share what I know.
I also take group travel seriously. I know that the person booking this property is usually the one doing the most work, coordinating twelve people, managing expectations, making sure everyone has a good time. My job is to make your job easier. Clear check-in instructions. Fast responses. A property that is exactly what the photos show, no surprises.
Prather Ridge Estate is a new listing with a small but perfect review record so far. Every guest who has stayed has left five stars. I intend to keep it that way.
Come and stay. I think you will love it here.
Warmly, Gbade
Why they chose this property
Nelson County chose us, honestly.
We were looking for somewhere that felt genuinely removed from the world but was never actually far from anything worth doing. The rolling ridges of Bloomfield delivered exactly that. From the porch of Prather Ridge Estate you can see for miles in every direction, open farmland, Kentucky hill country, nothing but sky and silence, and yet you are 25 minutes from Bardstown, 28 minutes from Heaven Hill, and 10 minutes from Taylorsville Lake.
This is the part of Kentucky that bourbon people know about but tourists have not fully discovered yet. Nelson County produces more bourbon than any other county on earth. The distilleries here are not theme park experiences. They are working facilities with genuine heritage, Willett has been in the same family for generations, Heaven Hill is the largest family-owned distillery in America, Bardstown Bourbon Company is redefining what a modern distillery can be. Visiting them feels like being let into something real.
Bardstown itself is one of those American small towns that actually delivers on its reputation. The Old Talbott Tavern has been serving food since 1779. The Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History is genuinely fascinating even for non-bourbon enthusiasts. The downtown square on a Friday evening in summer is the kind of scene that makes you want to stay another night.
The countryside between here and there is pure Kentucky. Winding back roads, horse farms, old barns, the occasional distillery rickhouse visible from the road. The drive itself is part of the experience.
We chose this neighborhood because it is the real Kentucky. Not a postcard version of it. The actual thing.
What makes this property unique
Prather Ridge Estate is the only property on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail that combines six designer bedrooms, a private indoor pickleball court, a dedicated Bourbon Lounge, and a 6-person hot tub with open hill country views, all on 5 private ridgetop acres.
Most group rentals in the area offer a house with a hot tub. We offer a complete private estate experience designed specifically for groups who want to do Kentucky properly.
Five things no other rental between Louisville and Bardstown offers together:
A private indoor pickleball court, the only one available in any rental within 20 miles, playable year-round regardless of weather.
A dedicated Bourbon Lounge upstairs, styled with navy shiplap, cedar walls, mid-century seating and bourbon artwork, purpose-built for the post-trail evening pour.
Five genuine king beds across six beautifully appointed bedrooms. No bunk beds, no pull-out sofas, no short straws.
4.5 bathrooms including two private en-suites, a standalone soaking tub, a 6-person hot tub and a 2-person infrared sauna. No bottlenecks on morning routines. No compromises on recovery after a long day on the trail.
A ridgetop setting on 5 private acres with panoramic Kentucky hill country views from the wraparound porch, the fire pit and the hot tub simultaneously.
The Entertainment Barn is also currently being converted into a fully loaded game room featuring pool table, arcade machines, shuffleboard, bar and golf simulator, completing late 2026 and making this the most comprehensively equipped group rental on the Bourbon Trail.
