Old school in Oevenum

Welcome to the Alte Schule in Oevenum on the island of Föhr, a historic thatched-roof Frisian house that offers you and your family a comfortable and spacious retreat for a relaxing holiday in a generous 150 m²—and you’re welcome to bring your four-legged family member along, too.

The completely redesigned and superbly equipped kitchen is a culinary dream, leaving nothing to be desired with its dishwasher, glass-ceramic cooktop, oven, and microwave. Here, you can cook to your heart’s content for your loved ones and spoil them with culinary delights. On the ground floor, you’ll find the spacious living room, perfect for cosy evenings, and an additional dining table that’s ideal for sharing meals together. Two bedrooms, each with two single beds that can be pushed together to form double beds if needed, as well as a third bedroom with another single bed, provide comfortable sleeping accommodation. The shower room with a window, which was completely renovated in 2019, rounds out the amenities on the ground floor.

On the upper floor, you’ll find three additional bedrooms, each furnished with a bed (1.40 m x 2.00 m) and a full-length mattress. This floor also features another bathroom with a bathtub and shower, promising relaxation for restful moments.

The Alte Schule is located in the heart of Oevenum, just a few metres from the popular weekly market and craft fair. The newly landscaped village square, featuring a small fountain, is perfect for cosy summer evenings—especially after dark, when colourful light orbs glow and the chirping of crickets creates a special atmosphere. A bakery is located not far from the property, and the “Friedenseiche” (Peace Oak), which has stood in the lower part of Oevenum since 1871, is a historical landmark that tells the storey of the village.

The town centre of Wyk is only about 3.5 kilometres away, making it easily accessible for wonderful walks or bike rides. The Alte Schule in Oevenum promises not just a holiday, but a unique experience, nestled in the historic atmosphere of a Frisian village on the enchanting island of Föhr.
