Your next adventure awaits you at The Cullowhee Cabin! From the time you drive up and see the spectacular mountain view until the time you are whisked off back to reality, you feel at peace at this beautiful mountain retreat. Every detail has been meticulously thought out in making this a restful and relaxing adventure. The Cullowhee Cabin is located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, specifically, it sits in the Blue Ridge Sub-range of Southern Appalachia. The Appalachian mountains are within the broader Great Smoky Mountain Region. Whether you're here for just a peaceful retreat or to adventure off to one of the many activities or nearby cities, The Cullowhee Cabin is ready to host you.

Our cabin has been designed for entertainment and to make you feel like you're part of the family. The open floor plan, great room, dining, and kitchen area allow you to entertain family, prepare meals in the fully stocked kitchen, and enjoy the property's natural beauty all from one space. All the windows and sliding doors in this area invite you to become one with nature and enjoy the views, sounds, and creatures that inhabit the natural landscapes. Warm up by the buck stove in the living room or turn on the propane fireplace and baseboard heaters during the cooler months to bring warmth to the entire cabin! During the warmer months, a great cross-breeze naturally cools the entire cabin with the windows and sliding screen door open. The cabin is located at nearly 4300 ft elevation therefore it needs no air conditioning and occasionally needs a fan during the warmer months. There are two large and cozy bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms that create your private spaces. The guest Chipmunk Suite with an Iron queen bed and a charming chipmunk theme makes it a great spot to wind down for the day with an upgraded, luxurious bathroom ensuite with a custom vanity and luxury bath linens. The Master Bear Suite has a custom King size log bed with all kinds of personal touches, including an adorable bear theme, a large ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and custom double vanity sinks, and luxurious bath linens. The fully stocked kitchen rounds out the main floor living space with all the appliances and cookware/utensils you would need to make a great meal for your family, as well as all the dishware for serving up your scrumptious meals!

The outdoor space is where the magic all happens! A beautiful covered wood deck with tons of viewing areas of the gorgeous mountain views. Outdoor dining options at the custom family wood dining table, or sit around for a game of cards or checkers at the round table! There are several cozy spots to curl up with a good cup of coffee or tea and read a book or simply enjoy the views and sounds of nature around you. A propane heater is available for use on the covered back deck (with intertwined Mountain Laurel Wood) to help keep you warm and enjoying your evening outside.

Follow the gravel path off the main deck to the fire pit and grilling area, where you have a large outdoor wood-burning fire pit and a propane gas grill awaiting those family BBQ nights or over the fire dinners and s'mores! There are plenty of options for outdoor spaces to enjoy the serene property. The front yard is where nature comes alive as you watch deer walking through the yard and chipmunks running and playing with each other. Hundreds of species of birds call the NC mountains home and while you are here you will have the pleasure of hearing a handful of the seasonal migratory birds as well as the ones that call this area home! Be sure to take in the moment and enjoy all the hard work that has been laid out to get you where you are at that moment, the long hours of work, the hours of drive time it took to get you here, and the team that's behind every stay, making sure your visit is absolutely perfect, Cheers to your upcoming stay with us at The Cullowhee Cabin!

Amazing location to relax!

Very quiet setting with just one neighbor across the street and almost no cars driving past. Lovely outdoor space, covered and open, with a wonderful mtn view! Loved the fire pit!!! The kitchen was well stocked and loved the attention to detail to make our stay comfortable. The beds were very nice, good amount of pillow, and extra blankets. Both bathrooms are nice and loved the extra large shower in the primary. Level circular driveway was a plus. No cell service, but that was ok since the home has fast wifi! We will be returning!!!!

Rachel and her guest were wonderful to host. They communicated well, they notified us when they checked out and they stripped the beds accordingly. They also placed dirty dishes in the dishwasher and started it so we wouldn't come to the cabin with dirty dishes waiting on us. We appreciate you allowing us to host you and hope that you'll stay with us again! Thanks for being amazing guests!!

The best way to spend the July 4th holidays

When we arrived at the cabin, the first thing we noticed was the July 4th decorations outside and inside the cabin. Denise the host did a great job getting us in the 4th of July spirit. Everything we needed was there, we never had to contact the host for anything. Being 4300 ft in elevation, the summer temperature is always perfect. It's very quiet and peaceful outside. In fact, we spent just as much time out on the porch as we did inside. The city of Franklin (about 25 minutes away) had a wonderful small-town July the 4th experience. We couldn't have asked for a better time.

A picture perfect mountain retreat

This 2 bed / 2 bath cabin is so unique; having a gorgeous view and thoughtful personal touches throughout. Upon entering into a cozy living room with a wood burning buck stove fireplace you’ll find a very well stocked kitchen to the left. Many teas and coffees were provided as well as many cooking pots and pans are available to make flavorful meals to enjoy on the spacious deck with STUNNING mountain views. We enjoyed all our breakfasts and lunches outside; watching the rain clouds as they rolled in across the mountain one morning for a brief and cooling rain shower. While there is no A/C, the temperatures were surprisingly pleasant during the day. The altitude and tree coverage made it very comfortable. The evenings cool off with a nice chill to enjoy a lovely fire in the fire pit. It was so nice to have laundry pods provided and the ability to launder our items before returning home. There is also a first aid kit in the master bath with the cabin address on it which I found to be so smart in the event of an emergency. Thankfully we didn’t have a need to use it :-) All these thoughtful touches made our stay feel like we were visiting family; very welcoming and cared for. We found this cabin to be ideal for our weekend retreat:-)

Amazing

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this wasn’t just another vacation rental—it was a home lovingly cared for and thoughtfully shared with guests. We were welcomed with tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a heartfelt story about the owners’ family tradition of enjoying this simple meal each time they arrived at the cabin. That personal touch immediately set the tone for our stay and made us feel genuinely welcomed. The cabin itself is absolutely exceptional. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the luxurious white towels and linens to makeup remover in the bathrooms and an incredibly well-stocked kitchen. Unlike many short-term rentals, the cookware is high quality, including cast iron skillets and sturdy pots and pans that make cooking a pleasure. The kitchen truly has everything you could need, and the coffee station is equally impressive, offering both single-cup and full-pot brewing options, along with a wonderful selection of coffees and teas. The beds were some of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. At over 4,000 feet in elevation, the cool mountain air drifting through the open windows made sleeping even more peaceful. Waking up to birds singing and the gentle mountain breeze was pure bliss. The views are breathtaking. The expansive deck provides plenty of space for gathering, dining, or simply sitting quietly with a cup of coffee. Surrounded by rhododendrons, mountain laurel railings, flower-filled window boxes, and stunning mountain vistas, the outdoor spaces feel like something from a storybook. There are countless cozy nooks to relax with a book, enjoy a conversation, or simply soak in the beauty of nature. Inside, the cabin is beautifully decorated with warmth and taste. The furnishings are comfortable and inviting, especially the reclining sofas that make it easy to settle in for the evening. Thoughtful touches such as blackout curtains, fluffy pillows, cozy throws, fans, heaters, and abundant seating make the space feel both luxurious and welcoming. The layout is perfect, with comfortable bedrooms and private bathrooms that provide both convenience and privacy. Everything was spotless, impeccably maintained, and remarkably comfortable. Even though the cabin is surrounded by nature, it was pristine, and we never encountered a single bug. Perhaps the highest compliment I can give is this: on our final day, we had planned an outing to Lake Glenville, but we were so relaxed, comfortable, and content at the cabin that we chose to stay right where we were. We simply didn’t want to leave. You can feel the love and care the owners have invested in this property. They have created far more than a vacation rental—they have created an experience. This is, without question, one of the finest places we have ever stayed, and I would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone seeking a peaceful, comfortable, and unforgettable mountain getaway.
