We completely renovated this former farmworker’s house, built in 1865, between 2004 and 2009 and furnished it to create a cosy atmosphere. Its subtle Mediterranean touch is unmistakable. Light-filled rooms and a sense of openness to the outside world were important to us. The impressive arched doorway in the kitchen creates an open connection to the patio.
The cottage, which is approximately 80 square metres in size, features a spacious, fully equipped, summery country-style kitchen with a large dining table that seats up to six people; a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove; a romantic bedroom with a double bed in a Nordic style; a whimsical and colourful children’s room for one or even two children; a stylish bathroom; and a spacious attic room for two to three additional guests. The house features two gravel patios with patio furniture and sunshades. It is surrounded by a wild garden filled with ancient trees. Parking spaces for cars are also available.
The charm of the house lies in the successful blend of historic architecture with a modern floor plan and cosy furnishings. We’ve been able to preserve the ancient wooden beams in the attic, living room, and kitchen, as well as many brick walls built with clay mortar. Nevertheless, the house has been insulated to meet the latest standards. On cool evenings, the wood-burning stove provides cosy warmth throughout the house. Underfloor heating ensures comfort from below when needed. The furnishings are tasteful and practical—children are welcome to let off steam here. Simple bicycles and a holiday library are available. We provide clean bed linens and towels.
This house is just as suitable for a single person or a couple as it is for a family. Even when fully occupied by 7 people, there’s still plenty of space for some quiet time—reading, reflecting, going for a walk, or simply sleeping in.
There’s also a fully equipped construction caravan on the property that sleeps 2, which can be booked as an add-on. The cottage has 7 beds, and the construction caravan has 2, for a total of 9 sleeping spots.
