The Highlands is an exclusive development in the village of Breckenridge. All homes are on acre plus lots with an abundance of forest around them. This home was designed to provide expansive views of the ski slopes and the Ten Mile Range. The two fireplaces offer a nice contrast to the snow-capped mountains and forest scenery surrounding our home.

An open floor plan connects the kitchen, dining room, and living area on the main floor. Light and views surround this area. The master suite is separated by a short flight of stairs. Again, light and views are prevalent from this vaulted room. All three rooms on the lower walk-out level also have private baths. Another family room provides space for leisure and activities. Our home is non-smoking, and pets are not allowed.

We take pride in making others feel comfortable about being in Breckenridge. Our home is warm and inviting and every effort is made to provide you with a special holiday experience. Please call us with any questions that might help you learn more about our home, about Breckenridge, about the Denver-Boulder area, about Colorado. We welcome a chance to share information with you.

Bruce is a retired school principal, and Judy is a retired school librarian. Bruce now works for Mountain Angler in Breckenridge as a professional fly fishing guide. We value travel and friendship. ( We especially seek out independent travel that forces us to be creative). We give priority to our four grandchildren; other interests include bridge, reading, outdoor activities, and sharing with others.

NOTE: The bunk room is too small to accommodate 4 adults/teenagers. The beds are not large, and the room is small.

We have stayed in many homes in Breckenridge and this property surpassed them all. It was beautiful, spotless, everything was in perfect working condition and the location is the best! Bruce and Judy were incredibly helpful before and during our stay. We definitely hope to stay in this lovely home again!

Family/friends ski trip

The house is gorgeous, located just minutes from gondola parking. We really enjoyed our stay there, lots of space for parents and kids. The house is well furnished and has everything needed for home cooking. The host were very kind and thoughtful; a very nice experience!

Winter Mountain Retreat

Spacious accommodations with an incredible view of the mountains. Cozy, inviting living room and open kitchen area allowed us to recharge and relax after long days of skiing. Great place, wonderful vacation, thanks!

Perfect Get Away!

Beautiful home. Very close to the slopes, and the jacuzzi is 100% a plus after a long day of snowboarding. Highly recommend!

Great place, great location

Very nice and very well kept. Close to the mountain and all the amenities of town, but not walking distance. Owners were very accommodating and attentive. I would absolutely stay here again, accommodated three families with ease.

Beautiful Home In Breckenridge!!

The home is beautiful, in probably de nicest neighborhood in Breckenridge. It’s just a five minute drive to the gondola parking for Peak 7 and 8. Everything works perfectly in the house and it’s just like you see in the photos. Judy and Bruce are the nicest and most helpful host. Thank you!!!

Awesome Accommodations!

I highly recommend this property! Our family spent 2 weeks in Breck and this was the perfect house and location. We are very experienced VRBO renters and I couldn't be more complimentary of Bruce and Judy (owners). They were in constant communication regarding the property, advice on things to do, and just plain pleasant to deal with. We will definitely rent this place again if available on our next trip to Breckenridge

Unbelievable views of Breckenridge. Easy access to the mountain and restaurants. The property was perfect for 2 couples and 3 teenagers. You could have more kids for sure. The snow was awesome.

Great, as usual!

We love this house! This was our second time to stay here. It's perfect for our family of 7 plus grandparents! The living spaces are perfect for kids and adults at the same time. The property is beautiful and the neighborhood has trails to your hearts content. The owners are great to work with and very helpful. I recommend this house to anyone as long as they don't book our time slot :)

Amazing Rental in a Wonderful Neighborhood & Area!

This was our family's 3rd rental in three consecutive years in this neighborhood. The home is laid out nicely, set up perfectly (thank you for the gift,) and I love the lodge mountain and antique decor...gave it such a warm feeling (we live full time on an Island in Florida.) Just a couple minor changes I would make - bigger bed in Master and larger "smart" TV in main living area. All else was perfect and loved all of the labels helping us to make our stay easier. WE WILL STAY HERE AGAIN!

Flawless experience that exceeded our expectations! Our group had 4 adults and 5 children at this house and it was great for adults and Kids. Spectacular window views of the peaks. Everything was clean and orderly. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything needed to make you feel at home. The living areas were big and comfortable. The bedrooms were quiet with plenty of bathrooms. Multiple decks / patios were perfect for relaxing mornings to take in the stunning scenery and views of the main peaks. The Owner's were extremely helpful and took an interest in our comfort and enjoyment while in Breckenridge. They recommended great activities, hikes and places of interest that made our trip even better. Absolutely nothing negative to say about this property or the management/Owners It was the best! Thanks for making our summer vacation one to remember!

Great location and beautiful home

This house was large and gave our family plenty of room to move around. It was in a beautiful wooded, upscale neighborhood and was very conveniently located to downtown Breckenridge. The hosts were very kind and responsive and were available and responsive on the telephone when we had questions. It was a very clean home which is most important to us. Not sure if we missed it when we booked the property but we were unaware that it did not have air conditioning. This was not really a problem for us because it averaged a high of 75° every day we were there and the host did have a few fans in the house which helped with warm bedrooms in the evening. There was always a beautiful breeze and fresh air coming through all the windows. The only thing that I would add is that If you care specifically about decor, this house felt a bit lived in as there are many personal belongings in the home and it had a style that was a bit antique-ish. We would definitely stay here again and Breckenridge was a really fun town to vacation in—- we went bike riding, white water rafting, hiking, rode gondolas, enjoyed fun downtown shopping, and ate at amazing restaurants . Terrific time overall:)

Lovely Home, Amazing Views, and Incredible Location!

Judy and Bruce were an absolute pleasure to work with. We reserved their Breckenridge home 6 months prior to our arrival. Judy and Bruce knew that we weren't familiar with the area and decided to surprise us with bi-monthly information packets! The packets would include local newspapers, information about ski rentals, local magazines, and more! Such a lovely gesture! From the moment we arrived on December 24, the home exceeded our expectations. Judy and Bruce left us a welcome basket (hot chocolate, wine, snacks!), and we found Christmas gifts under the Christmas tree for the young child in our group (!). Their home is perfectly located in town and offers incredible views, comfortable beds, and beautiful bathrooms. We thoroughly enjoyed the framed views of Breckenridge mountain from the living room and saw three moose and a number of unusual birds from the kitchen window. We spent several days skiing and snowshoeing, and the house was perfectly setup for these activities. This is the best rental our family has ever stayed at, and we cannot wait to return! Thanks again, Judy and Bruce. You went above and beyond!

This house is amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. 1. Clean! I mean really clean. 2. Well-stocked - linens, towels, plates, utensils, paper towels, etc. 3. Location - amazing views, but also conveniently located to Main St, the grocery store, a nearby hiking trail with more views, etc. 4. Layout - the kids had their own downstairs haven while we stayed in the upstairs master. There's enough room to spread out and yet nice communal areas for family time. 5. Owners are awesome - responsive, thoughtful, and caring - so much so that they truly are a perk of this place. 6. Labels and instructions everywhere made everything so easy. 7. Awesome water pressure and we never ran out of hot water with our family of 5. 8. Radiant heat floors in master bedroom and bathrooms were wonderful even during summer. 9. It feels like being home. We were truly able to unwind and relax in this house. We absolutely loved it here and would stay again in a heartbeat.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. The Spinney’s were wonderful hosts, great with communication and letting us know what was going on in Breckinridge before we got there. The house is very well stocked. Views are amazing! Our family loved our time here.

Bruce and Judy welcome you to their Breckenridge home. Bruce moved to Colorado from Iowa as a young boy. He grew up in Fort Collins and developed a love of the outdoors as a young lad. Fort Collins had open spaces and easy access to a world of adventure. He ran a small trap line on the Poudre and developed a love of fly fishing as a teenager. Judy grew up on a farm in Rocky Ford, Colorado. She and her sister and two brothers tackled all the tasks associated with a family farm.
Bruce and Judy met at CSU (Colorado State University) in Fort Collins. Bruce became a school administrator, and Judy spent most of her career as a school librarian. After retirement, Bruce was a fly fishing guide for Mountain Angler in Breckenridge for many years.
They like to play competitive duplicate bridge, travel, bike, read, and Judy often fly fishes with Bruce. They always travel with their cribbage board.
Bruce and Judy are parents to two children. Each is married and has two children. They are fortunate that both families live in Colorado.

Why they chose this property

Our home lends itself well for sharing time with friends and family. It has an open floor plan where people can gather together. The views are outstanding. Each bedroom has a private bath. It's amazing to be in the outdoor hot tub when snow is drifting from above.

Properties in The Highlands are on acre+ lots. Trees are abundant and the setting is ideal. One has very expansive views and lots of open space.
