Tranquil views abound at this quaint cottage overlooking acres of farmland, forest, and a pond! Local legend tells that this charming farm was once a stop on the Underground Railroad! Cozy up by the fire on a chilly night, or relax on the porch for a stunning glimpse of the sun rising over the wooded hills or setting beyond the pond.
The space This cottage was completely renovated with the goal of preserving its local heritage and potential historic significance. Much of the charm of this cottage comes from its quaint size, the locally sourced oak and walnut hardwood floors, and the historic elements preserved inside.
This house is ideally suited for a couple or small group, and has an abundance of amenities to simplify your trip.
OUTSIDE One of the best parts of your stay will be relaxing on the porch which is perfectly positioned to enjoy a stunning sunrise over the hills, or a picturesque sunset beyond the pond, cornfields, and wooded horizon. The porch also includes a gas grill, a round patio table with four chairs, and a smaller side table with two more outdoor chairs.
During warmer months you'll be greeted in the mornings by a multitude of singing birds. Evenings feature a chorus of frogs lining the pond banks to announce the coming of the sunset. Cozy up by the fire in the colder months and enjoy the view of acres of snow covered fields and forest.
KITCHEN & DINING The kitchen – while small – has everything you need to cook and bake your favorite meals. This includes a gas range, pots and pans, cooking utensils, bake ware and of course plates, bowls, silverware, and cups. Situated inside the eat-in kitchen, you can dine at the antique table with chairs for 6 guests. When you're done, a dishwasher simplifies clean up!
The coffee and tea station includes a small auto drip coffee maker, French press, and single-serve coffee maker. The electric tea kettle is ready for your next cup of tea. A selection of coffee and tea, as well as sugar packets and creamers, are also provided for you.
Not in the mood to cook? Local towns like Cranberry, Seneca, Oil City, and Franklin are loaded with restaurants of all kinds. While there are chain restaurants to choose from, check out local favorites like Valley Dairy for family friendly fare, Trails to Ales for a local brew, or Bella Cucina for some fine dining.
LIVING SPACES The living room, situated next to the kitchen, features a 43" Roku TV, two couches, and two comfy chairs. Use your favorite streaming services with Roku Guest Mode and automatically sign out of your accounts on the date you set. Leave the overhead lights on for extra lighting, or use the dimmer on the switch for a more relaxing vibe. On a chilly evening, the gas heating stove in the corner will warm you and provide the ambiance of an indoor fireplace. On a warm day, open windows provide excellent cross ventilation, or use the window mounted air conditioner to really cool the space.
The full bath (with tub) is located on the first floor next to the kitchen and near the living room. Towels, wash cloths, body soap, shampoo, conditioner, and a hair dryer are all included. Please only flush toilet paper and natural waste. A stackable washer and dryer are right around the corner from the bathroom. Hypoallergenic laundry soap is provided.
The first floor also includes one bedroom with a full mattress (that sleeps two), a small closet, and a brand-new dresser.
UPSTAIRS & OTHER BEDROOMS Upstairs has two more bedrooms; one with a queen bed, and the other with two twins with a desk and chair. All bedrooms include brand-new dressers to store your clothes for longer stays. Oil filled radiant heaters and window mounted air conditioners in each upstairs bedroom allows you to tailor the room’s temperature.
KID FRIENDLY AMENITIES Although the cottage is most popular among adults, we do include some basic kid friendly amenities including a pack 'n play, children's dinnerware, and a baby gate.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE While the cottage's role in the Underground Railroad is difficult to verify, the hand-hewn wooden beams and other architectural features found during renovations confirm its historic quality and suggest that the original house was indeed present in the mid 1800s. Whether or not the local lore is true, the house (once marked for demolition) was restored and preserved because of its historic significance and that we may not forget this part of our country's history.

Other things to note As seen in some of the outdoor pictures, the cottage is situated about 30 feet away from the road. It should be noted that many historic homes were located close to early dirt roads traveled by horse and carriage. Pavement and cars have changed how we travel, but this location is still brimming with country charm and rural landscapes!
Please supervise children near the road and pond.
