Sønderborg is the largest city on Als. The Als Sund runs through the city, which boasts a lively atmosphere. In Sønderborg, you can also learn more about the long history of ring riding in this area and explore both historical and modern attractions and works of art.
Sønderborg Castle: Visit the castle at the entrance to the Als Sound. Here, you’ll learn more about the history and culture of the castle and the surrounding area. Dybbøl Banke near Dybbøl: From your holiday home in southeastern Jutland and Als, visit the national treasure and history centre Dybbøl Banke and the famous Dybbøl Mølle, which holds special significance for the locals in South Jutland. Try a VR coaster where you can design your own ride, stop by the film studio, or test how good your head is for heights on the Sky Trail.
Gråsten Castle: The summer residence of the Danish royal family is definitely worth a visit. When the royal family isn’t staying at the castle, the castle gardens are open to the public. You can stroll through the charming gardens, enjoy the view of the sea, and see the castle up close. From here, you can also easily take a trip to Ærø and Funen.
