Rustic and Culturally Preserved Experience

Brienz is an authentically Swiss town. They have gone to great lengths to preserve their historic buildings. It is one of the many reasons why we love Switzerland. I would recommend this property as long as you know what you are getting into. We traveled in August with temperatures in the 90’s F. The apartment was too hot for the comfort of my kids but I was okay. It is in a great location off of the main road but that means you will hear traffic all night long. I did have to take off a couple of stars because the listing said there was a washer and dryer. The apartment didn’t have either. The closest laundromat is in Interlaken. Also, parking in Brienz is hard to find. We ended up parking by the church down the road and walking to the apartment.

Unauthorized Host Entry

Started strong with easy check in, charming home, and nice location. However, things took a turn when the host barged in with a key, unannounced (no knock, no message, and no identification). Claimed a neighbor said we were smoking 5 minutes before. All but one person had left, leaving my sister in law with a computer for the previous HOUR. After that incident, the location felt unsafe and we all felt uncomfortable. Who knows if or when she could have entered at anytime when we were gone. Considering it was the last night there, we did not want to pack and request accommodations elsewhere. If I could give 0 stars I would.
