Great place to stay
The house is in a fabulous location near the hugely enjoyable Lacanau-Ocean with its restaurants, bars and miles and miles of beach. Tennis courts and golf right on the doorstep and cycle paths through the forest and into town. Great place to stay, couldn't recommend it higher.

Love this place!
Had a lovely summer stay here last year. It's a great property with easy access to the fantastic array of experiences on offer locally. We particularly enjoyed the beach (haven't body boarded for years!) , the lake (first time I've swum in one), the great tennis facilities (easy bike ride away), the wonderful market (gorgeous local oysters) , cycling everywhere as well as sitting on the terrace for supper or a wine o clock aperitif! The town was really buzzing with atmosphere which we enjoyed, but it was also lovely to come back to the oasis of peace and quiet that this property offers. It was great to have access to a pool too and we often had it to ourselves. The house provides everything one could possibly want and is a real home from home. Can't wait to go back!

Great house, great location even with teenagers!
We stayed a week in this lovely house with our two teenage boys - 18 and 16. The house is spacious, light and airy and calm. It had all we could need to cook our own meals. We ate outside on the patio - just like on the photo. Notice the view - you can see the 18th green, which provided a constant source of entertainment as we imagined hopes and dreams dash with every missed put. The house is wonderfully private and quiet so we slept well. We had a hire car but didn't use it all week. We walked into Lacanau (20mins) to hire bikes - we chose the cheapest - like Boris bikes. These were fabulous fun. as we cycled miles along cycle paths through the pine forests that run between the sea and the lakes. We windsurfed most days at the lake and went to the Plage du Sud - because we'd been told that the surf was better and it is a bit quieter. We met up with the Cap33 'animateurs' a group of students employed to make sure holiday makers have fun, we played football, Volleyball, beach tennis and even had a taster session of Pelotta - the court is really near the house. We cycled to the supermarket for the mounds of food required for the 'boys'. We ate out, well too - by the side of the lake and on the coast. It's a great place to go on holiday. Thank you. P.S. Don't install wifi - the ritual wander over to the Golf club bar or the stop by the Office de tourisme in town was all part of the magic.

Lovely place and location, excellent for families!
We stayed here for a week with our son who is nearly 4 years old. We fell in love with this house immediately with its location overlooking an immaculate golf course, peaceful surroundings with lavender growing everywhere in a safe cul-de-sac.The house (and especially the kitchen) is well equipped and it was very clean and comfortable. Our son enjoyed playing with a great selection of toys that were kept in the house including beach essentials and a selection of kids DVDs.The house was bright and has a sunny terrace where we ate our breakfast every morning. Each bedroom has shutters and it was relaxing to hear the ocean in the distance every evening with sun going down over the golf course and pine trees. We were able to sit on the terrace with a glass of wine in the evenings whilst our son was sleeping upstairs. The house shares a lovely pool surrounded by pine trees. We swam in the pool each day and our son had lots of fun! The house is in a great spot near the town of Lacanau Ocean which is full of great restaurants to eat with kids, bars, a great fruit market and bakeries as well as a Disney carousel that our son loved with a fun playground next to it. Our son's favourite place was Banana Surf Shop offering lovely smoothies and milkshakes and tasty food for grown-ups. You can hire a bike and cycle everywhere here. We enjoyed going to Plage de Nord each day near Lacanau Ocean followed by Lake Moutchic only 1.5km away from the house. The lake is superb for kids as it is very shallow with a sandy beach where you can hire pedalos or do windsurfing and sailing there too. Overall we really had a superb time. There is a small shop halfway between Lacanau Ocean and the house that sells cupboard essentials and fresh fruit and vegetables, which we found very handy. We didn't explore the area as much as we could have, but there wasn't any need as the sun was shining, Lacanau Ocean was only 5 minutes drive away from the house and we had a white-sandy beaches, lakes and pool on our doorstep. The house representatives live nearby and we found them extremely friendly and helpful. We are already planning to return next year. We would highly recommend this house if you are looking for family suited accommodation with lots to do and see nearby. You won't be disappointed!

Peaceful Retreat at Lacanau Ocean
We had a lovely stay in Lacanau Ocean. The house was spacious and airy, a lovely peaceful retreat amongst the whispering pines. It was great to be able to jump on our bikes and set off for the day, either at the beach or the lake. The cycle tracks, under the shade of the pines, are easy to navigate and the terrain undemanding. As a family of 4, including 2 children age 8 and 6, the ability to get around by bike, experience the excitement of the big rollers at the ocean or the gentle fun of pedaloes at the lake and then return to the comfort of the house proved to be the winning formula for our holiday. Our children loved being able to go to the shared pool near the house and we enjoyed being able to have all the comforts of home whilst knowing that a great day out was not that much effort away. We have no reservations in recommending a stay here and would definitely return.

Lovely house, glad to have discovered the area
We have stayed at this property twice now, once with friends and then again a few years later as a family with our two young children. The house is well maintained and has all the essentials required for a self catering holiday with a family and is well situated in a perfectly quiet spot equidistant from the ocean and the lake. The recently extended terrace, with views over the golf course is an ideal setting for relaxing summer evenings watching the sun go down over a good book and bottle of wine, once the kids are in bed! We are a keen cycling family and took our bikes down with us. The extensive paved trails through the pine forests and along the coast are perfect for getting to and from the town and the beaches at the lake or the ocean, without having to use a single road. Lacanau-Ocean has an array of reasonably priced restaurants, although we tended to cook for ourselves back at the house, having young children and finding it tough to keep the kids up until the restaurants begin serving at 7pm. The house and its surroundings would suit those in search of an outdoors active holiday, bikes, running, swimming, sailing etc., or one simply content to relax on the terrace and watch the golfers. The pool is kept clean, but is not heated, so can be a little shock to the system at first if you venture in in May, as we did! It is intended as a quiet pool for a bit of exercise and not one with kids running and jumping around. We're glad to have discovered Lacanau and its surroundings and I am certain we will be back in the future.

Ocean or Lake or Both
We had a wonderful holiday staying at this very well situated house. We are not golfers but it was nevertheless really lovely being up on a slight hill looking down on to the fairway between groups of pine trees, whilst having a chilled out BBQ. If you were a golfer you would be in heaven. Opening up the shutters and letting the South of France sunshine flood into your bedroom is a pretty good pick-me-up in the morning. Situated almost exactly between the ocean and the lake, both of which are easy cycling distance, you have a choice of both – we mostly did both on the same day. Invigorating breakers after ‘breckers’ and then of to the lake for a tranquil picnic on grass, in the shade of a large tree, whilst the kids swim with complete safety – life guards, very gently sloping beach, and no tides or currents to worry about. Back to Lacanau Ocean in the evening for chic bars and nightlife if you still have the stamina. House is clean with good sized rooms, easy access for bikes around the side, patio/BBQ area conveniently situated outside the French windows. The shared pool, very close to the house is very clean, good size, and when we were there in August mostly underused. A nice comfortable house in an amazing location. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Lananau holiday
This is a great part of France to holiday, with such variety of scenery and activities for all ages. Lacanau was an ideal base to explore beaches, forests and vine yards further afield. Whilst basic, the house was functional, clean and comfortable. The only downside was the fact that the garden isn't enclosed fully so little children can easily get out at the side of the property. We'll definitely be back to the area again.

My family and I live in London. We settled here from having left school and uni. I used to work in SW France and know the area well. When my husband and I visited Lacanau Ocean about fourteen years ago, he feel in love with the area too and so we bought our house off plan. The children have spent each summer enjoying the house and the area. There is so much on offer in the area and we love our time there. Decisions are tough - beach or lake tend to be the hardest choices to make!

Why they chose this property

We holiday here every year with our family and love everything about the house and its location - half way between the beach and the lake. One can cycle easily to both places. Its a 5 min cycle to the boulangerie, beach and tennis courts. The cul de sac is quiet and safe for the children.

What makes this property unique

Overlooking the golf course - the 9th hole, a shared swimming pool, close to cycle paths, close by to town centre, lake and beaches, tennis.
