Gingerbread House-Less than a mile from Paia town and all North Shore beaches

This unique and romantic two story, one bedroom house is nestled in a mango tree. The house is an A-frame structure with high ceilings and skylights making it bright and airy. It is located less than a mile from the bohemian town of Paia and ALL of the North Shore beaches. The closest beach access is Kuau Beach, Kuau point, three blocks, and Hookipa Beach less than a mile.
The second floor bedroom has a queen size bed with French doors that open up to the private lanai and a window AC unit.The main floor has a living area with a full size futon/couch, a full kitchen and a marble tile bathroom with a jetted tub and shower combination. You can see just a small sliver of ocean from the second floor lanai, but we do not call it an ocean view. There is a patio just outside the house, with an outdoor grill, outdoor shower to remove the sand from your day at the beach and your own private parking area.

Great location on the edge of Paia, about a block off the highway nestled at the base of a beautiful mango tree. Faint traffic noise from lanai, some normal residential sounds such as house being built next door. Did not bother us a bit. Very quiet at night. Comfortable queen sized bed upstairs. Plenty of space for two people, and really a nice little place. Compact but complete kitchen. Guest book a bit outdated (no access to Tavares beach from highway, no screen in upstairs French doors, and most of historic Lahaina is gone now after the 2023 fire, or with restricted areas). Despite notes in the house about bugs, we didn’t see a single ant or gnat. Poni was immediately responsive to any questions or issues. It’s a great house!

We had a lovely stay at the spacious gingerbread house for a week. It was a great location very close to beautiful tide pools and fun town of Paia. Highly recommend this spot for a Maui vacation.

Our host was very kind. There was a binder with so much information about the area that was truly helpful. We were not too far out of Paia where we were able to walk to town, one of the beaches, and the Kuau store.The house was the perfect size for our family. It was in a quiet area as well. The laundry was a welcome as we spent 2 weeks in Hawaii. We did not need anything at the house but did have a question and was promptly responded to.We even loved the Geckos. Many times we sat on the deck, relaxing, and had no problems.The light switches were all labeled so we didn’t have to struggle with that!Thank you a wonderful and memorable time!

We loved our stay in Paia! The house was wonderful, clean, comfortable and a great location. Really close to a couple nice beaches and a short drive to town. Pro tip… have coffee on the balcony up stairs in the morning. There are a bunch of little geckos hanging out in the morning sunshine. 10/10 could come back!

My partner and I said “this place is so cute!” more times than I can count. The house was super clean and the hosts made sure we had everything we needed. The best place to stay!!

The Gingerbread House was the best place for two sisters to enjoy a wonderful Maui experience. The place was adorable, clean and comfortable, equipped with everything vacationers would need to feel right at home. The central location was perfect so that we could travel the entire island without too much drive time. Enjoying evening hot tub soaks was an added bonus. We appreciated the tips and local insights in the notebook provided and took full advantage of each recommendation. Host, Poni, checked in with us even though we already had everything we needed. Would highly recommend to anyone who is comfortable with stairs and would definitely stay here again if visiting Maui in the future. Thanks again for making our dream visit a reality!!

Beautiful home with privacy

Even though Maui is so expensive that most people do not own acreage ......the way the home was situated and gardened made it both beautiful and private at the same time. It was very close to the beach and also to Paia town. It had an upper deck and a lower covered porch so plenty of outdoor areas to relax or eat. Was the perfect space for two adults and a child.

My husband and I spent a delightful 4 nights at Gingerbread House. It's romantic, cute and cozy. The bathroom, located downstairs from the loft bedroom, has a luxurious open feel to it. We enjoyed the ocean breezes which waft through the large screened doors from the upper deck. It was great to be provided with everything we needed for a perfect beach day: chairs, snorkel gear, umbrella, towels, etc. The location is perfect for trips to the volcana and Hana highway. Just a few minor issues--the kitchen cooking supplies are in fair condition, making it difficult to cook a simple meal. The house is off the road and quiet, but there is a lot of traffic on the roads right around the house and it is not a particularly pleasant walk into Paia.

Aloha Carolyn, Thank you for staying with us, delightful to host you. We took note of the kitchen supplies and re-organized, adding as well a new air conditioner. The house is three lots away from the main road, down at the end of a private lane, at the back of the property, no traffic what so ever goes by the house, it's completely an independent home, situated next to a large Mango tree that provides ample shade and a canopy of solitude and privacy. The 2-lane Hana Hwy, our private lane opens to, is frequented by through traffic, not recommended for foot traffic (the sidewalk ends quarter mile from our small quaint beach town. Paia Town is located on Hana Hwy with one traffic light, one gas station, one organic Food market, Mana Natural Foods. Lots of unique shops and boutiques. Gingerbread house is less than a mile from town, but no sidewalks in our area, those who do walk, and many do, are recommended to walk facing the traffic for safety. Charmingly Perfect Gingerbread House

My grandkids were born on the island, so I've had many occasions to visit Maui over the years. I love the north shore and always stay near Paia. This was my first time renting the Gingerbread House and I absolutely loved it! It was located perfectly between Paia and Ho'okipa Beach where my granddaughter surfs. It was spotless, well equipped and decorated with love. The upstairs bedroom was beautiful with a walkout onto the balcony lanai. The futon downstairs was made into a bed for my son. The kitchen had everything and the bathroom was gorgeous. Everything we needed was there. My son and I walked to nearby Ku'au Bay (5 minutes) and loved seeing the basking sea turtles. We ate dinner at Mama's Fish House (the best!) just a few minutes drive up Hana Highway. Paia is a short drive or 15 minute walk away. I would go back in a heartbeat and I would rent the Gingerbread House again.

Great but a few notes!

Overall we had a fantastic stay at the Gingerbread House. We loved Paia town and the surrounding areas. The house is clean, check in and communication was great, and the guidebook found in the house is so thoughtful-we used and loved all the recs and info! We also enjoyed the proximity to the Road to Hana, Haiku, and Makawao. Additionally, the house is easy to find and property and amenities like outdoor space and laundry were all great. Now a few things I wish I had known...The description is accurate in terms of distances, but this house is not really walkable to anything. The highway has no sidewalk and a super narrow shoulder, so this felt unsafe on the one walk we attempted. If you stay here, you'll definitely want a car even to make it to Paia or the closest beach. The other thing is that the bathroom is sunken down from the main level of the house and has a lot of slippery tile. Since this house has 3 levels, I would definitely not recommend it for anyone who struggles with balance or has mobility issues. Overall, the house is charming, but it is small and very open and the bathroom is dated and far from the main bedroom. We stayed with our 7-year-old (3 people total) and it felt very small. That said, if it is your goal to be out and explore, this is a good spot to land and is close to many awesome things.

Really cute little house in a stellar location

Very cute little place, really nice for the two of us to get away. The ocean breezes made it so nice to sit outside, and the indoors was cute and cozy. It was the perfect base to explore Paia, or walk 10 minutes the other way to watch the windsurfers.

Lovely Home in an Excellent Location

My husband and I enjoyed staying at Poni's property. The house was super cute and Poni was a wonderful hostess. You are close to Paia town, with lots of places to eat and shopping - and it is only about a 30 minute drive to Kihei/Wailea if you want to head over there.
