About this property
Modern comforts in an 1860's log cabin nestled in the Appalachian Foothills.
Spread out in fifty acres of field and forest or curl up by the original rock fireplace in our 1860's log cabin– just minutes from historic downtown Rogersville.
We love East Tennessee, so we take measures to reduce environmental impact and support our neighbors and regional makers.
Enjoy simple, natural pleasures with modern comforts, all while leaving a low ecological footprint.
----
This is a working farm! While dogs are allowed, please keep in mind we have farm animals which are enclosed in electric fencing. They will be kept far from the cabin during your stay.
Feel free to approach, look at, and photograph the animals—but please do not touch them unless we are present!
If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out.
---
This 1860's log cabin was moved from Surgoinsville to this spot in the 1970's.
The master bedroom is on the first floor; the other two are upstairs. The home is equipped with two full baths– downstairs has a shower, upstairs a clawfoot tub with a "handshower". We care about cooking, so our kitchen is fully equipped. There is a coal grill and outdoor seating on the patio as well as a gas fireplace in the living room.
Every room holds furnishings and decor that have been around for decades or more. Please enjoy them gently.
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. Feel free to reach out with any questions about your accommodations.

About the host
Hosted by Laura Heeke
This was my grandfather's farm for many years. My mom grew up here, and I grew up visiting from Knoxville with my cousin. My husband and I have recently taken over its stewardship, and we couldn't be more grateful.
Why they chose this property
It's such a pleasure to have acres to stretch out in and explore, but to be just minutes from downtown Rogersville. It's changed a lot from when I was visiting my Granddaddy, but the warmth is exactly the same.
What makes this property unique
A note from my mom:
"This is my family farm. I was blessed to be the one to carry on to save the farm. My father bought the farm in the 1960s and in 1976 he found the cabin in a neighboring community, bought it, and he and one other man tore it down, piece by piece, numbered each one and put it back on his property. Each cut of wood has his touch and heart in it. I played on this farm as a child, picked strawberries to sell to friends, laid tobacco stakes for my brothers to stalk rows of tobacco, rode our horses, feed our cows, and made castles in the hay loft."
