Prime location Neuhausen—the “most beautiful spot in the Ore Mountains”—can look back on more than 725 years of history. This resort, known far beyond its borders, developed at the foot of Purschenstein Castle—a customs and escort fortress situated along the “Old Salt Road.” The imposing Purschenstein Castle still towers over the town today. In and around Neuhausen, along with its districts of Cämmerswalde, Neuwernsdorf, and Deutschgeorgenthal, nature lovers can experience one of Germany’s most beautiful hiking regions. Finally open: the Blockline—the bike adventure for the whole family is right here.
Pure nature The Rauschenbach Reservoir and the surrounding areas are home to several rare animal species: the otter and the northern bat, for example. The black grouse can occasionally be spotted among the many native bird species. In the spring and fall, many northern waterbirds stop over at the Rauschenbach Dam, including various species of ducks, mergansers, geese, and divers, as well as the dipper. The Grüne Liga Ostthüringen has documented 679 butterfly species in the Eastern Ore Mountains, including 570 moths and 96 butterflies. The Rauschenbach Reservoir is home to, among others, brown trout, lake trout, rainbow trout, carp, perch, tench, eel, pike, zander, chub, and roach.
Excellent accommodation, Dogs are welcome The villa was built in 1925 and stands alone on a 3,000-square-meter property surrounded by nature. The view from every window is magnificent, and the two stained-glass windows in the entryway, as well as the lovingly and meticulously restored front doors, highlight the home’s special charm.
You can step right out into nature from the house. The forest, water, and hiking trails are just a few steps away. The Rauschenbach Dam, for example, is only 1.5 km away.
