Our holiday rental, “Wengertshäusle,” is located at the back of the building on the 1st floor. Between our apartment and the neighbouring house, you’ll find a small outdoor seating area with patio furniture that’s perfect for enjoying a glass of wine outdoors. The apartment is heated and cooled by air conditioning. The fully equipped kitchen features a toaster, electric kettle, coffee maker, two hot plates, and a modern air fryer that doubles as a small oven. In the living area, we have a sleeper sofa that can be made available for additional guests upon request, as well as a satellite TV and Wi-Fi. The bathroom features a shower and toilet, along with other amenities such as a hair dryer and a makeup mirror. The bedroom is furnished with a cosy 140x200 bed. According to the locals, Köhler is the most beautiful town on the Main River loop in the Franconian wine country and is located just a few kilometres from the well-known wine town of Volkach, with its countless wineries and restaurants. On one side of Köhler lies the Altmain River, and on the other side of the street are the beautiful vineyards. That’s why they say, “In Köhler, pancakes are only cooked on one side”—which is probably the most famous saying about Köhler. All around, there are beautiful hiking and biking trails through the vineyards and right along the Main River. The Franconian vineyards stretch for kilometres and lead to well-known spots such as the “Vogelsburg,” the “Maria im Weingarten” chapel, and numerous local venues and restaurants. In Köhler itself, you’ll find a launch site on the Main where you can drift down the Altmain by canoe or paddleboard, as well as a canoe rental, a restaurant, and wineries. From Volkach, you can take part in raft trips and sightseeing cruises on passenger ships, such as the Udine. Across the Main River, in the neighbouring town of Escherndorf, you can take a car ferry to the wine-growing town of Nordheim am Main. From there, you can also follow bike and hiking trails to Sommerach, another very well-known wine-growing town. Just two towns away from Köhler in the direction of Würzburg lies Dettelbach, with its historic old town and the nearest train station. The Mainfrankenpark in Dettelbach features large cinemas, a bowling alley, and fast-food restaurants. From here, you have direct access via the Biebelrieder Kreuz interchange to the A3 (Nuremberg–Frankfurt) and the A7, which passes Rothenburg ob der Tauber en route to Ulm and Lake Constance. From Dettelbach, it’s just a few kilometres to Würzburg, with its sights in the beautiful old town, the cathedral, the Residenz, and the fortress. Not far from Würzburg, Sommerhausen—with its old town—is also worth mentioning; it was recently voted the most beautiful town in Lower Franconia. Köhler is considered a quiet “hidden gem” on the Main River loop and is the perfect place for a relaxing, stress-free holiday filled with hiking and biking. Our holiday home features two holiday apartments on the ground floor. Both apartments are equipped with air conditioning and a fully furnished kitchen. We offer free Wi-Fi and satellite TV. On the ground floor, you’ll find a bike storage room where you can also charge your e-bikes. Across from the house, there’s a parking lane for your vehicle, and a small children’s playground is nearby. The village also features a canoe rental shop, wineries, and a restaurant. Check-in is available from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:00 AM. Alternative check-in and check-out times may be arranged upon request. Please contact us in advance to coordinate these details if necessary. Access to the building and the apartment is via a code, which you will receive well in advance of your arrival. Pets are not allowed. Additional fees: If needed, an extra bedroom with a box-spring bed (180 x 200) can be booked for up to 2 people at 20 EUR per person.
