Great location, easy to reach the city and the surrounding countryside

Pros: The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. There was nothing we needed that wasn't available, and there were even toys for the kids to play with. The location on the edge of the village of Gunterstal was just right for us as it was quiet and green yet just a 15 minute tram ride from central Freiburg (and the tram stop is right outside). There are trails into the forest right on the doorstep, and the bus to the Schauinsland cable car station was very convenient too. All in all it was the perfect balance between a city and mountain location. Cons: There's no grocery shop in the village but it wasn't really an issue as there were supermarkets less than 10mins away by tram.
