About this property

Charming cottage 2 blocks from the beach

This vacation home has been beautifully renovated with the idea that a rental can feel unique and personal rather than generic and impersonal. Located in the beach community of Whalehead in Corolla, this upscale home features two en suite master bedrooms and two bedrooms having two twin beds each and a shared bathroom -- perfect for one or two families, a girls’ weekend, or a couple wanting a cozy home that's neither too big nor too small.

For the hot summer months, the private pool is refreshing, and the covered pergola poolside will allow for hours spent reading, napping or socializing without getting sunburned. And the fun can continue into the evening with the grill fired up and the lights on! There is a double swing on the mid-level deck, also a nice spot to enjoy by yourself or with a companion.

The house comes with beach umbrellas and chairs, as well as a decent collection of boogie boards and sandcastle building "equipment" for the kids. There’s also a cart to carry all this, making the short walk to the beach even easier. It’s only a three minute walk down a nice paved boardwalk to the beach. For those familiar with Whalehead, this is the Barracuda Walkway.

The house also offers some privacy, as it is surrounded by stands of pines, making it feel like it’s tucked in its own little cocoon.

As the owner/reservation agent/concierge whose been vacationing here for over twenty-five years, I'm happy to help my guests with their vacation planning. I care that all guests thoroughly enjoy their time spent in my home and this wonderful beach area.

Please note that my home is only available for rent on VRBO/HomeAway. It is not available on a third-party site or Craigslist. When making inquiries or bookings, you would only speak with me (the owner); I am always happy to talk and answer any questions you may have.

It was awesome! Great home and location! Excellent design and furnishings, there’s a spot for everyone. The renter has provided everything you need, just bring some clothes and your favorite food and drink. Super responsive and helpful to ensure you enjoyed your stay! Highly recommended!

Perfect location and space for 2 families

This is our 5th year staying here and at this point Julie is like a friend. She is amazing at making sure you have what you need and so responsive to any issues. The house is in a great location with a quick walk to the beach or less than 10 min to drive on beach. The pool area and screened in porch are perfection. The kitchen is really well stocked which makes cooking meals very simple. Another amazing trip has ended and we are so looking forward to next year again already!

The location was superb!!

The location was amazing, such an easy walk to the beach (even for my 2 year old) but felt as if we were in our private cove surrounded by trees. Such close proximity to the awesome park down the road, the lighthouse, and the 4x4 beach to see wild horses. The house was child friendly, kitchen fully stocked and the host was easy to get in touch with and very responsive. My family cannot wait to come back

Amazing Vacation!

The house was amazing! We loved it and it was great for our children and extended family. Right on the board walk for an easy walk to the beach. Our kids loved the pool. Julie was great to deal with. Would definitely recommend.

Making the memories!!

We loved having the best of both worlds... beach all day and pool all night!! It was a quick, easy walk to the beach. The pool was outstanding, tho could use some shade. The house was comfortable, with plenty of room for us to sit. The kitchen had everything we needed! We had a few visitors (deer). We loved all the trees, that created privacy around the house. Sitting on the balcony you are not looking right down into the neighbors pool... 10/10 a great place to stay for a family beach vacation!!

Vacation in a Tree House

Julies property was a wonderful stay. Nestled in the trees, the 3rd floor seemed more like a stay in a tree house than at the beach. Do not be fooled though, a quick walk on the direct path to the ocean gives you the best of both worlds! Private swimming pool, comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen made our vacation one of the bests we ever had!

Perfect location

Julie has a lovely property. It is clean and comfortable. The pool was perfect. The beach is a very short and easy walk. We rented bikes, learned to surf, and saw the wild horses. This property was close to everything but still peaceful. Don't hesitate to stay here.

Great Family Getaway

This property was amazing! It had everything we needed and more. We could not have asked for a better place. Make sure you rent bikes and ride all around. The lighthouse and places to eat is a mile away. Also, wild horses are a must see. The pool is great to jump in and get refreshed. We will stay again!

Great place to stay

Location was great. Right next to the boardwalk to get to the beach. We used the beach chairs, umbrellas and beach cart. Was nice to not have to rent. Pool was wonderful. Kitchen was well stocked. Lots of spices to choose from. Loved the porch swing. I think it was everyone's favorite spot. Would definitely rent again.

So Convenient!

The house was clean, the kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen we have ever seen in a beach house, and it was incredibly close to the beach. What more can you ask for? The kids loved the pool and moms loved everything else!

Beautiful Home in Great Corolla Location

Perfect home for a group of 4-6 people. Walk to the beach was about 10 minutes and a well constructed walkway right by the house made it easy to get to. House was furnished beautifully, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including an amazing selection of spices. Pool was the BEST -- and we'll never rent another home without one! Thank you, Julie, for sharing your home and for all the suggestions you made to make our trip so memorable!

Discovered Gem!

The pictures of the house don’t do it justice! The house is beautiful, clean, has just about anything you need, and has a great layout! It’s secluded, but a few steps away from the access path to the beach. There’s plenty to do in the area, and the host (Julie) is great with providing information prior to check-in about places to eat and places to go. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Clean, convenient, great Beach House for small groups with children

Convenient location to all area attractions. Very clean,open floor plan, great kitchen, several decks and porch swing were a plus. Clean pool, short walking distance to the beach. I was traveling with grandparents and my children. Everyone had a great time. Julie was very quick to respond to any questions I had. Only thing I would recommend is a gas grill and a railing for the pool stairs. Other than that perfect vacation house will be returning.

Perfect for two families

We have stayed at Julie’s house the past 4 years and we keep coming back to it every summer because it’s just perfect. We have two boys and two girls between our families and the bedrooms they share are perfect. It’s a short walk to the beach or less than 10 min to drive on the beach in Carova. The pool is private and is a great set up to enjoy. The kitchen is stocked with anything you may need which we appreciate since we cook mostly every meal. Julie is incredibly responsive and just a delight to work with. We will be back again next summer!

Thank you for your interest in our beach house. This house was built in 1986 by my Aunt, and was her pride and joy for over thirty years until she passed away in 2012. My Aunt wanted this house to stay in the family and be enjoyed for decades so she designated us as its new owners and caretakers. We gratefully accepted the honor.

Why they chose this property

This property was completely renovated in 2013. A new kitchen, new bathrooms, an added 1/2 bath upstairs. Freshly painted inside and out. Master bedroom was redesigned to accommodate a king size bed. All the furniture and linens are new. All kitchenware is new, dishes, glasses, silverware, pots and pans.

What makes this property unique

This property is designed for one or two families. Family reunions will have to be for another day. With a straight walk to the beach on a walkway, it's convenient to go back to the house to refill the cooler, jump in the pool, or find reprieve from the midday sun.
