The historic thatched-roof house “Frieda,” built in 1721, can accommodate up to six people and combines traditional charm with modern comfort.
Location
Aventoft is situated on a geest island on the Wiedau, at the northernmost tip of Germany, right on the Danish border amid a marshland landscape. But Aventoft is also situated directly on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, the Wadden Sea, with its extraordinary nature and landscape.
This beautiful thatched-roof holiday home is located on the southern outskirts of Aventoft.
The surroundings feel open and peaceful. Fields and meadows dominate the view. The Danish border is just a few minutes away. This makes the location ideal for day trips to Tønder, Møgeltønder, and Højer, or to the extensive coastline of the Danish North Sea. Trips to Sylt (via Klanxbüll) or Föhr/Amrum (via Dagebüll) are also easily possible. To the north, the Danish island of Rømø is 50 km away, and to the east, the Baltic Sea coast and Flensburg are 50 km away. About 3 km away, the museum of the world-famous painter Emil Nolde attracts visitors with changing exhibitions and a colourful flower garden.
Aventoft is one of the quiet communities of North Frisia. Even in summer, the streets remain quiet. Many visitors appreciate this tranquility and the fresh air. The town offers basic amenities, including a supermarket. For additional shopping, you can drive to Süderlügum in about ten minutes or to Niebüll in about fifteen minutes. The region offers ideal conditions for cyclists. Flat paths lead through meadows and small villages. Bicycles can be rented right on site, about 100 metres away, at “Fahrrad-Wollesen” in Aventoft.
The proximity to the Wiedau and the vast salt marshes brings diverse natural scenery right to your doorstep. Birdwatchers can observe large flocks of ducks, geese, and swans throughout the year. In spring and fall, a spectacular natural phenomenon can be observed from Aventoft in the Danish-German border region. Huge flocks of starlings gather before sunset and form fascinating patterns designed to ward off birds of prey, almost obscuring the sun. This natural spectacle is also known as the “black sun” (in Danish, “sort sol”).
