Hawaii Sheffield House has been a legal bed and breakfast for over 35 years. We are available and legal for stays of less than 30 days. We provide a unique neighborhood stay in Kailua Hawaii that is just down the street from Kailua Beach.
The Hawaii Sheffield House Ginger Studio has a 'Secret Garden. The night lighting is enchanting. We are Located at 131 Kuulei Road in Kailua . It has a private entrance and is on the ground floor with windows opening to a tropical bank of Areca palms. The Ginger Studio has a private entrance and a private bath that has a huge walk-in shower . A breakfast bar with toaster oven and coffeemaker and under counter refrigerator is provided in the room. Check the calendar for last minute vacations or specials.
Just outside the door in the garden, is a bubbling fountain in a Chinese steamer pot. There is a comfortable queen size bed. The beach is calling and there are activities galore, a perfect Hawaii vacation. Take a beach chair and a boogie board located by the entry door and walk to Kailua Beach and enjoy some beach time.
There is an Olympic size community swimming pool and tennis courts 13 houses up the street toward Kailua Town. In the other direction is our beach access to Kailua Bay . Hike the Lanikai pillboxes, Visit our wetland, Kawainui marsh. Kailua Beach by Sheffield House is a perfect boogie board spot. Watch the kite surfers or join in. Plan an early morning walk to watch the sunrise.
The Ginger Studio and the Garden Suite 30018 can be combined to make a two bedroom two bath unit and sleep a party of five.
The Ginger Studio has a queen-sized bed with Hawaiian applique quilts and a newly remodeled private bath with a Breccia marble counter top. It has a large shower -big enough for two (no tub). It is equipped with a breakfast bar or kitchenette (No kitchen sink) with a microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and under counter refrigerator and a table for two.
While it is air conditioned, ceiling fans are usually all that is needed. Evenings on the beach you will need a light sweater or jacket all year round. The Ginger Studio has an iron, ironing board, hair dryer, cable TV and wifi. There is an indoor rattan table for two as well as an outdoor table for two/three. Towels, beach towels, and paper towels are provided. At this time we are not accepting reservations which include children under the age of three in this room. .
We only accept reservations with small children when this unit is rented together with VRBO 30018. It is possible to sleep a party of 5 with adjoining VRBO 30018
Yes, we are in the tropics so you may see geckos, anoles, chameleons and flying insects. Yes, we do use pesticides.
Note that there are two coin operated laundromats within 1/3 of a mile away.
Hawaii Sheffield House is a non smoking property. The Ginger Studio is a self contained vacation rental with everything there that you might need. There is one free parking space in the driveway of Hawaii Sheffield House just steps from the entrance the Ginger Studio. (Note: You do not have to circle the block or parking garage looking for parking.)
Sadly, at this time our street can be busier than normal. It is from time to time being used as a detour for the construction at the roundabout at the entry of Lanikai. Hopefully, by the time you read this the detour will be removed.

We loved our stay with Paul and Rachel. They were very kind, we talked to Paul multiple times and felt like not only was the space clean & peaceful - but they left us homemade baked scones in the fridge, such a thoughtful touch. You cannot beat the location in Kailua.
We had a wonderful stay!! The Ginger studio was beautiful and comfortable. The garden patio was a peaceful place to sit and enjoy snacks and beverage. The hosts were wonderful!
Communications between the host and us were very timely and clear. They provided very clear directions to the property from the airport. Easy walk to the beach and to morning coffee shops and restaurants. Property was very clean. Plenty of towels etc. bed was comfortable and the room was cool throughout the day and night. Cable TV, Wi-Fi, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo and body wash was all provided. Great quality for the price.
This was an absolutely delightful stay! Comfy bed, lovely patio, and breakfast bar with everything we needed. We walked to the beach and swam in the ocean every morning at sunrise and enjoyed the island during the day. I truly hope we can come again. Thank you for your excellent hospitality.
Great location, easy access to the beach within walking distance. If you wanna be in a little town near the best beaches, then this is a place for you.. we will definitely be back. Very private and quiet. The house are very nice and keep the property looking amazing.
This place is spectacular - clean, quiet, and close to some of the best beaches. We enjoyed being able to walk into town as well. Would recommend on all fronts!
Nicely appointed room with a 5 minute walk to Kailua beach. Also just a half mile walk to restaurants and shops. Very clean and the owners are very friendly.
The location is wonderful! A few blocks to the beach and about a 15 min walk to Whole Foods and shops.Cozy and homey well equipped little suite. The hosts thoughtfully provided snacks upon arrival!
Loved my stay here! The hosts were so generous and helpful. I appreciated that the place was clean, well stocked with coffee and snacks, and located in a perfect location for beach and town activities. The garden courtyard was absolutely beautiful as well. Will definitely be staying here again during my next visit.
This cozy little place was everything it was said to be! Close to town and the beach, also the perfect location to go anywhere on the island.. I would definitely recommend this place to any couple visiting Oahu..

Why they chose this property
We are very conveniently located between Kailua Town and Kailua Beach. Kuulei Road is at the very end of the Pali Highway so we are also very convenient to Honolulu . Over the years we have had friends and family from the mainland visit. They are amazed and often say that they do not know of any place that has this combination of mountains, magnificent beach and lovely little town. We have an amazing monkeypod tree which shades the home. We are conveniently located between Kailua Beach and Kailua Town. Yes, we are always looking for ways to update and improve!
