100 Year-Old Log Cabin Lovingly Restored - With New Bathroom And Kitchenette
The Gallery Cabin, a 100 year-old log cabin, lovingly refurbished with a new bathroom and kitchenette. Perfect for singles or couples the 240 square foot cabin has a brand new queen size bed, kitchen nook with sink, microwave, kettle, toaster, toaster oven and fridge, and a bathroom with shower and towel warming rack. Breakfast makings are provided: delicious fresh organic wood-fired sour dough bread provided by Francis Bread, home-made granola, jam, milk, juice, eggs, butter, bread, fruit and coffee and teas. A private deck soaks up the afternoon sun with a table, chairs and BBQ.
The Gallery Cabin is on the 2 1/2 acre property of Celia Duthie & Nicholas Hunt - with 1 other rental (Gallery B&B). Garden and forest views.
The cabin is a short walk from the nearby village Ganges, Churchill beach, and across the street from the prestigious Hastings House Hotel. There is a public bus service from the ferry terminals so guests can (if they wish) come to the island without a car and enjoy the island by foot, bus, kayak or rental scooter.
Salt Spring Island has an embarrassment of riches in art and music with many galleries, studios, and music venues. The Saturday Market, with farm produce, cheeses, and crafts, is a perennial favorite.
A good time to come to the island is often the off season, when the almost always temperate weather is fine for golfing, biking, walking, exploring the island or taking one of many excellent art and craft courses offered throughout the year.

Super cute, cozy cabin with everything you'd expect in a place called a 100 year-old log cabin. Just a ten-minute walk to town while also feeling remote and peaceful. Came with a free loaf of artisan bread, pastries, orange juice and eggs - everything you could ask for. Lovely place, highly recommend.

Disappointing stay. Left after 1 night. Would have left
Such a lovely place! Check in was an easy process and the breakfast makings that were provided were such a thoughtful addition. The hosts were very accommodating and kind, and I always received fast replies. Everything was a quick drive or walk, the grocery store was five minutes away and plenty of options for restaurants or food. I highly recommend staying here.
We had a great time staying at the cabin. The host provided amazing breakfast items (juice, milk, eggs, fresh local sourdough, butter, jam) which made the trip feel so special and the location was a perfect distance from the town (10 minute walk down to the pub and 15 mins to town). Overall great stay, and would come back!
The cabin was cozy, and the bed was comfortable. The host went above and beyond by providing fresh bakery bread and other breakfast items in the fridge. We really enjoyed that. There was some local furniture and art in the cabin which was a cool touch.
We had a lovely stay in a small garden setting. The bread was delicious and everything was clean and cozy. It was within walking distance of most places in Ganges.
We loved the location, the sound of the rain on the roof and the proximity to all services we needed. Nick even picked us up at the floatplane dock! We would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed everything this accommodation had to offer! Perfect location, peace and quiet, cozy cabin, natural setting, delicious breakfast and privacy. Easy check in and check out. Would love to return!

About the host
Hosted by Celia Duthie
Your hosts Nicholas Hunt and Celia Duthie have been married for more than 30 years. We have 2 children and a cat. Much of our life was spent in the book business in Vancouver; now as well as the B&B we have a gallery of fine and landscape art. We love to cook, eat, walk, read, garden and play bridge.
Why they chose this property
We love our property because it is surrounded by garden and orchard, fields and forests and the house, cabin and gallery are tasteful and comfortable. Now on the property is Francis Bread - baking delicious fresh organic naturally leavened wood-fired sour dough bread - for our guests.
What makes this property unique
Visitors will enjoy the historical experience of the 100 year-old cabin and appreciate the art and studio furniture in the cabin. They can also enjoy the landscape art and sculpture on the property and the top quality artists in the Duthie Gallery. As hosts we can recommend restaurants, studios and excursions, and provide maps of trails for hikes and rambles.
The cabin is completely private, with a private entrance; guests will feel they're in their own place while staying with us.
There is always a good supply of current books and magazines available in the suite.
Visitors to our Gallery Cabin will also enjoy its close proximity to the shops, galleries and restaurants of Ganges village, and for lavish dining, the Hastings House hotel, directly across the street.
