Enjoy our cottage on the sandy beach! It's perfect!! It really is....
Come Up North to Gac’s Getaway on Spider Lake to relax and enjoy the lake life. Our two-story cottage has that great beach house feel with South facing views. It’s the best spot on the lake! There are three bedrooms, one bath and a main living/dining/kitchen area. The cottage sleeps six and all the rooms have views of the lake. There is one king, a queen and a double size bed. The kitchen has all the essentials - a full size refrigerator, electric stove/oven and microwave. The bathroom has a tub and shower. GG’s has 60 feet of private beach frontage, perfectly sandy that is only 40 feet from the cottage. As you enjoy your morning coffee in the screened in porch, you will hear loons, see ducks, geese, possibly an eagle and all sorts of other critters. Spider Lake is a spring-fed, 459 acre all-sports lake. It’s excellent for fishing, skiing, tubing, swimming, and any other water sport you can think of. The lake has several bays and islands to explore. Outside you will find your own dock, the "Blue Fin," a 14 foot rowboat and life preservers. There is a gas grill, outdoor furniture, and a fire pit. If you’d like, you can also bring your own boat, there is a DNR launch site 1.5 miles away. If you choose to bring your boat, please let us know that you doing that. If you can tear yourself away from the lake, Traverse City is only 20 minutes away with plenty to do. You can enjoy the National Cherry Festival, Old Mission Peninsula Wineries, Leelanau Wineries, Casinos, award-winning restaurants and unique downtown shopping. The area is known for its championship golf courses, TART biking trails and extensive hiking routes. This part of Northern Michigan is home to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, awarded “Most Beautiful Place in America” by ABC’s Good Morning America. From GG’s, you can enjoy a day-trip to the dunes and other fun destinations along Michigan’s famous M-22 scenic drive, or visit the Interlochen Center for the Arts, where they host nationally known artists during summer concerts. Cherry Capital Airport is only 20 minutes away. Although you may be tempted to pack your visit full of activities, make sure to leave time to relax and enjoy the beauty that our cottage offers you and your family.

We had wonderful stay at the cabin. It was close enough to Traverse City that we could hit some of the main attractions in the area, but it was always nice to return to the peaceful view of the lake. Simply enjoying coffee on the dock in the mornings was the best!

Excellent location on Spider Lake with views, sandy beach, and quick trip to Traverse City and elsewhere. Clean home, great communication with owners, highly recommended!
Beautiful lakeside property. We rented the pontoon and had so much fun on the lake. Proximity to Traverse city was perfect. Cottage is neat and comfortable and hosts responded quickly to any questions or concerns.
This place was exactly as described and more. Very fun for the whole family. We loved the lake and nearby park. It was a great place to unwind and make lasting memories. Traverse city and Lake Michigan is also nearby for fun day trips.

Hope to see you again Nichole! Thank you for the 5 Star review!!
The cottage was even more charming in person than in photos. It was a great home base to explore the Traverse City area and the lake was perfect for swimming and relaxing on the dock. Hosts were quick to reply when we had questions. It was a great week!
We had a great week on the lake. The location was nice and quiet with a beautiful view. We rented the pontoon boat for the week and it was great to be able to use at our convenience. The owners were very accommodating. .

It was nice meeting you and the family. Jim and I hope to see you again.
Love Gac’s Getaway and we will definitely be back. The tubs to float on in the lake are amazing and the cottage is decorated perfectly. It’s a wondeful get away spot in TC. Jan & Jim were easily reachable and quick to help.

Thank you for the glowing review. We hope you to see you again.
We loved it here. The water is clear and the beach by the cottage is sandy. It was a quiet area of the lake for the most part, sometimes you could hear a hotel/resort type place a few houses down. The beach was perfect for young kids to swim in, and the fishing off the dock kept my kids busy all week long. The dock is awesome to tie your own boat off, but I would launch your boat before you get to the cottage, the driveway is long and steep. The cottage was incredibly clean when you go there, and the kitchen had everything you needed.

Cozy Clean Cottage on Spider Lake
Jim & Jan were excellent to work with. In total we had 5 people that stayed comfortably, The boat they provided was good sized and with the outboard and trolling motor we were able to fish the entire lake over our stay. We also boated to the island and enjoyed the sandbar on one of the hotter days.
This was our first time booking a stay through VRBO and it went great!

Nice meeting you and the family. Come back anytime!
We really enjoyed our stay. Everyone in the family had something to do either on the lake or the cabin. Owners were wonderful to work with. They replied immediately for anything we needed. Cabin has everything you need as lot of thought has been put by owners. Neighbors are great to talk to as well. Overall a great experience. Thanks for sharing the cabin!
Awesome cottage, feels like home. The owners are great, nice little beach, good location on the lake, super clean, fire pits, grills (gas and charcoal), chill neighbors, kayaks, awesome personal touches throughout that show the owners care, and so on. The Blue Fin is a fine vessel. Pretty much guaranteed you’ll dig this little joint on the world famous Spider Crick.

Thank you for your kind words. You're welcome anytime!
First time visit to Northern MI. So relaxing. The cottage was perfect for the 4 of us. The dock was my favorite place to sun. The lake is very clean & offers plenty to do to keep 2 teens busy. The cottage offered all the basics necessary and was decorated so cute! Definitely a 10/10. We were so happy with our decision to stay on Spider Lake. Already planning another trip and
Four "girls", who have been friends for over 45 years, got together at this property that had great views of the lake from the living and all of the bedroom areas. The pics do not do justice for this charming property with lots of water vehicle options and Jan, the property owner, got back immediately with any questions we had. We had a great time!

Thanks for the great review! Making memories is what life is all about!
Nice stay. Love the window seat in the largest bedroom. All bedrooms and bathroom are on the top floor, while the kitchen/living room are on the bottom floor. Would appreciate if they had bath towels but the owners very clearly say in the listing that they do not supply them, so it wasn’t a surprise. We especially appreciated the fire pit right on the beach. Beds were comfortable, which to me is essential.

Thank you for the nice review. Hope to have you visit again.
We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Jim and Jan were wonderful hosts and very easy to get a hold of if need be. The cottage is just as described and was clean and ready for us upon arrival. We added a few little things to the kitchen that we thought were useful. We loved the beach and the lake was warm and clean. Conveniently located far enough away but not to far away from the hussle and bussle of Traverse City. We would recommend this cottage to anyone and hope to return again soon.

About the host
Hosted by Jim and Jan Gac
Here’s our story… Jim and I met in 1986 at Wonderland Mall in Livonia, Michigan, married in 1990 and moved to Traverse City in 1994. (Best decision EVER!) We both grew up in subdivisions and that was not what we wanted when we moved to the area, so we found a house on 10 acres and love it. We met some friends that introduced us to boating. We've been to many beautiful lakes, but we fell in love with Spider Lake. Jim grew up going to cottages with his family all over Michigan. I always went up to Cheboygan to Eddies Cottages. We both have fond memories of going “Up North” to vacation. When I was young I thought “Up North” was the pin pointed destination, not Cheboygan. Now I think of “Up North” as anything north of the Zilwaukee Bridge! It has been a dream of ours to own a cottage. Jim and I love the idea of families coming up and adding stories and memories to their lives history. We have looked 13 years and found the perfect cottage for us. With a lot of hard work and sweat, we think it's perfect for us and we hope it's perfect for you too. Jim and Jan
What makes this property unique
Our cottage is just steps from the beach and the largest part of Spider Lake. We face South, so it's always sunny. The beach is sandy and you have to walk out into the water before it gets deep. The water is generally calm in this area of the lake and this body of water warms up quickly. Grab your fishing pole and you can cast right off the dock. In the evenings, you can star gaze and have a bonfire.
