Just Before the sea and in the Village, at the Border of Camargue

With the Mediterranean Sea stretching as far as the eye can see, in the heart of Aigues-Mortes Bay overlooking the fine-sand beach, in the old fishing village of Le Grau-du-Roi at the gateway to the Petite Camargue, the apartment enjoys a prime location and exceptional views.
Pleasant in both summer and winter, it can accommodate 1 to 5–6 people, including those with limited mobility when accompanied.

It is next to City Hall (on the left when facing the sea), 30 metres from the old village (supermarkets, shops, post office, market—two or three times a week—plus a morning fish market at the harbour, a farmers’ market on Fridays at Town Hall Square, a carousel, a spider ride for children, bike rentals, a church....) not far from the swimming pool, the arena, the train station, the salt marshes, etc.
It is separated from the beach only by a private 18-square-meter paved courtyard, a lawn maintained by the town hall, and a promenade (a very well-designed pedestrian walkway—accessible for strollers, people with limited mobility, etc.), several kilometres long, running along the bay. It is lit up at night.)
Located at the far end of the bay, the apartment is pleasant early in the morning with its flocks of birds, during the day of course, but also at night with all the lights along the coast.The promenade is also lit up.
Watching the fishing boats set out and return around 5 p.m. is a pleasure to enjoy from the apartment (all photos shown—except for the car park and the daytime and nighttime views of the building—were taken from the apartment or the courtyard). The courtyard is paved, enclosed, and features a 2.20 m gate; it is shaded from the sun
by a very large awning. The beach is a very clean, fine-sand beach that is supervised in the summer and is safe.

The town hall on the beach was inaugurated in March 2014; our building, located to its left, is a 4-story structure with an lift and was built in 1963.

A private car park is located to the right of the front door.

The apartment is equipped with Wi-Fi and high-speed internet (fibre optics), making it ideal for working from home. A wide variety of TV channels.

Last April, the apartment was rated 3* as a furnished holiday rental and appears to be one of the apartments in Le Grau-du-Roi with the most beautiful views.



Before discussing the exterior, five double-glazed windows enclose the terrace, while four other double-glazed windows and a double-glazed French door enclose a bedroom and the “living room.”Thermal and sound insulation are therefore excellent.

Although our home does not have a disability certification, it is accessible without steps from the beach, and a ramp is provided for access to the terrace. It is equipped with numerous handrails (bathroom, spacious shower) and is suitable for home healthcare.

Several people with limited mobility really appreciate it, both for the views it offers and the normal lifestyle it allows (the beach and promenade are bustling day and night for various reasons: holidaymakers, regattas, seagulls, water sports, and fireworks along the coast in the summer—all visible from our place, etc.)


A car isn’t necessary for your stay here. Everything can be done on foot (even the train station is close to the apartment!), in a wheelchair, or with a stroller (for babies or young children).
There are many possible sea excursions with attentive and highly skilled staff just 5 minutesright outside our apartment (in Le Grau)

Since it faces due south, the sunsets are magnificent all year round (and so are stormy evenings). The sun doesn’t shine directly into the apartment in the summer, but in the winter it reaches all the way to the back of the apartment. The apartment therefore isn’t hot in the summer; in any case, opening all the windows allows you to enjoy the sea breeze.

An awning spanning the full length of the five windows shields the courtyard and the apartment from the sun.


Right in the heart of the Camargue and on the shores of the Mediterranean, Le Grau-du-Roi is close to Aigues-Mortes, Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer, Nîmes, and La Grande Motte. 
There are many easy ways to get there: the Montpellier airport is 25 km away, and the SNCF train station is right in the centre of the village (400 metres from the apartment). Le Grau du Roi is accessible via the highway, with the nearest exit 8 km away.

A holiday destination that has managed to preserve all the charm of a fishing village: its historic village centre, local shops, cinema, theatre, markets, and high-quality restaurants… while also welcoming tourists: a very large marina (Port-Camargue), a thalassotherapy centre, the Seaquarium, and a bird sanctuary (these last two paragraphs are taken from a brochure published by the tourist office).
