About this property
Clean comfortable Victorian house with central air conditioning
The historic Jenness House is situated in the heart of Glenwood Springs offering quick walking access to many of the area’s featured attractions. The famous Hot Springs Pool, the historic Hotel Colorado and the Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park are all located in North Glenwood just two blocks from the Jenness House. The Colorado River pedestrian bridge is one block away from the house and offers access to Glenwood’s downtown shops and restaurants.
In its central location the Jenness House provides close and easy access to the area’s abundant year-round outdoor activities. You can ride from the steps of this North Glenwood Victorian to the start of the scenic Glenwood Canyon bike path or connect to the Rio Grande Trail, which travels the length of the Roaring Fork Valley from Glenwood Springs to Aspen. The Jenness House is a 5 minute walk away from the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. Abundant rafting and fishing opportunities are literally minutes away. In addition, the close proximity of Interstate 70 and Highway 82 provide quick driving access to multiple world class golf courses and ski areas located between Aspen and Vail. And, if you can’t pack all of your gear or need some expertise, there are several rental companies located near the Jenness House that provide guides and equipment for biking, skiing, rafting, and fishing.
Wherever the day may take you, the comforts of home await your return. The Jenness House is a remodeled and newly furnished 2 bedroom, 1 bath Victorian with an open floor plan and expansive living area. The 10 foot ceilings and bay windows fill each room with natural beauty and light, while top down bottom up shades provide privacy. Two quaint and cozy enclosed porches bookend the living space and offer a unique environment to relax and enjoy the views.
The kitchen and dining room are set and ready to entertain. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the necessary appliances, cookware and dinnerware. You will have no issues creating your culinary masterpiece while others relax and enjoy the views from the high top breakfast table. The dining room offers an elegant atmosphere to enjoy your meal at a table that seats eight.
When you are ready to relax gather around the gas fireplace and kick back in one of the cozy pieces of furniture the living room has to offer. Enjoy DVD’s and On-Demand cable on the flat screen television above the fireplace, or relax with a book or board game from the library.
At the end of the day retire to one of the two bedrooms, both of which are furnished with comfortable queen sized beds. The mattresses, pillows and linens are new and feature a timeless touch. These warm and inviting rooms come with closets, dressers, luggage racks, hall trees and bathrobes. If additional sleeping space is required the living room sofa pulls out as a queen sleeper with lay flat memory foam mattress for extra comfort.
A modern bathroom is located between the two bedrooms. The bathroom is reminiscent of the era in which the house was built. The classic design from that period can be seen in the black and white tiled walk in shower and solid surface Corian countertop. The shower has an adjustable, removable wand, built in bench, and complimentary soap, shampoo and conditioner. Luxurious towels, blow dryer and magnifying mirror are provide. The laundry room is equipped with a front load washer and dryer.
The Jenness House sits on three city lots providing ample space for relaxing outside. The front of the house is landscaped with flower beds and provides two off street parking spaces. The beautiful side yard is fully enclosed with a 6 foot privacy fence. At the back of the fenced yard is a concrete patio with a gas Weber grill and patio furniture for dining outside.

About the host
Hosted by Nathan Moffatt

Our names are Ashley and Nathan Moffatt. We were both born and raised in Glenwood Springs. Ashley works as a water resource engineer in Glenwood and Nathan works in construction. We moved back to Glenwood last year when we got the opportunity to fix up this property and turn it into a short term vacation rental. The properties location and the lay out of the house make it an ideal rental house.
Why they chose this property
The Jenness House was built in 1913 by Lyle and Laura Jenness. Mr. Jenness was a highway engineer who worked laying out roads all over Colorado. The house was well built and has been well maintained over the years. Mr. Jenness hobby was photography so he built a sturdy basement to house his photography studio. When he returned from his trips he would work in his basement developing photographs of his travels and projects.
Ashley’s mother’s family, the Worrells lived next door to the Jenness family. Five generations of the Worrell family have lived on Maple Street. The Worrell family became friends of Lyle and Laura Jenness. Lyle and Laura did not have any kids of their own to pass the house on to. When it became time for them to sell the house they first offered it to Marcie Worrell.
Marcie Worrell bought the house and took care of it and remodeled it over the years. The basement was turned into a 2 bedroom, 1 bath caretaker apartment. When Marcie passed away in 2013 she left the house to her daughter Ann Nadon. Ann and her husband Jim are currently the third owners of this 100 year old house. Ann and Jim Nadon continued to fix up the Jenness House in 2013. While working on the house somebody suggested turning it into a vacation rental. The house with its two separate living spaces and downtown location is perfectly suited for being used as such. After a year of painting, landscaping and cleaning we are ready to offer the Jenness House as a comfortable place for guests to stay in downtown Glenwood Springs. We hope you enjoy all that Glenwood Springs and the Jenness House has to offer.
