The hosts were very helpful and friendly. This is a well kept, clean and quiet place just at the end of the cove. Lots of privacy. The boat slip was a plus for us but it is literally right next to the boat ramp as well.
The property was just like the owners had listed it as, eveything was clean and in order, the boat slip was awesome since we had a boat.......would definitely stay ther again!!

Not what I was expecting based on the description and photos and
I will start out saying we had a nice stay with our friends. There was plenty of room to cook and eat, we served 16 people on the night we arrived. Since there was no one leaving the day we arrived, Craig was nice enough to allow us to go in early.
Communication was an issue early. We never received the code for the front door. Neither Craig nor his wife answered my calls or texts asking for the code. A problem since we had groceries in the car. A neighbor eventually called Craig for us and he answered her call, so we finally got the code.
I was expecting a single family dwelling based on the 'Awesome House' description, but in reality this is a duplex with a shared deck. Which turned out okay since no-one was staying in the other side. The deck was unusable, it was dirty and in need of power washing. The pictures of the deck show the deck, but in the morning. The afternoon sun is brutal that it was not an enticing place to hang out.
There were two pads for parking 4 cars and we used all the space. Again we were fortunate no one was staying in the other side. The driveway was too steep (17 degrees) to really park on. We tried using the garage, but with all the stuff in the garage there was only one usable space. Parking in the middle was an issue as you couldn't use the door to get, it opened just enough to hit the garage door opener. Only parked in the garage once, because of the inconvience and it was so filthy.
The overall cleanliness was not up to my standards. Besides the garage and the deck, there was a used razor in the shower of the upstairs bathroom and he curtains in the back upstairs bedroom were stained. The overall appearance of the property was diminished because the gutters were full of leaves and tree debris.
We rented this property for 8 adults. The bunk room has room to sleep 4, and would be great for kids, but as an adult I didn't enjoy sleeping there. Two different couples slept in the other upstairs bedroom and both complained about the comfort of the bed. The table had seating for 8, but when we arrived there were only 6 chairs. I found two more in the garage full of cobwebs and spider nests. One chair wobbled and the other had a broken slat on the back. We cleaned the chairs and I duct taped the slat so we could seat 8.
We did not have a boat so I can't comment on the dock.
For us, this place was great. It was my husband, myself, our 2 kids with spouses, and 5 grandchildren. The location was good for renting a boat and being able to get up to the dock to pick up the family. The deck is very nice. I contacted the owners with a questions and they got back with me right away.
Really enjoyed our stay. Property was well maintained. Host was extremely helpful in answering questions. The deck is really nice and a great place to sit out and watch the sunrise/sunset. It was our favorite part of the house.
Wonderful getaway for families to meet from Texas and Nebraska. Lovely lake front property. Swimming from dock was a little questionable. Great neighborhood with easy access to boat rentals. Nice big deck to enjoy the evenings.
We had nice relaxing thanksgiving on Monkey Island. House was great with a large deck overlooking the connected dock which was great for fishing. Owner was accommodating and very responsive. Would rent again!
Needed a few things which were handled immediately and very good communication to get needs taken care of.

Convenient location
Spacious property which has had a few cosmetic updates but smells musty. Kitchen is well equipped but there was no trash can and the bags provided did not fit the trash compactor. There was no toilet paper in upstairs bath with no extra anywhere to be found. Big hole in one of the bedspreads. Freezer was dirty, kitchen sink was stained and there was no way to get the cover off the very tall patio umbrella. Upstairs beds were uncomfortable. For the price, I was disappointed in comparison to family members’ stays elsewhere on Monkey Island.
This house is fantastic and is in a great location with everything on Monkey Island minutes away. The large deck out back has stairs that lead down to a nice boat slip. We fished from the dock all weekend and had a blast. If you have a boat or rent one from the marina, you’ll have to navigate through several other slips and docks to get to this one. But didn’t look too difficult. It was super quiet at night. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioner worked well. It was a little warm in the first upstairs bedroom but they provided a fan and also have a ceiling fan so that did the trick. It had all the amenities of home so we had everything we wanted/needed. Beautiful property in a great location. I would 100 percent do this again.
Everything was exactly as described. It fit our two families well. The kitchen is small but had all the necessities. It was very clean and we felt safe staying there even durning Covid-19 pandemic. We brought all our desensitizing stuff just in case but didn’t end up using a lot of it. The dock is at the very end of the cove and it was a bit tricky to get the boat in and out to pick people up but it all worked out. It’s on the far north side of monkey island. It was a little further away than we wanted to be from some things, but it was nice and quiet. We even fished off the deck and dock and ended up catching a channel cat with a lure. The neighborhood was fine. When we first drove up we weren’t sure about the first houses we saw but followed the directions and kept driving and they got much nicer. Would definitely recommend this place and stay here again.
The duplex was very clean and well stocked for our stay. The convenience of the boat ramp was spot on. We did tie the boat up to the outside of the boat slip every night and we had no issues at all! Great property for a family or a group of friends. Would recommend to anyone!
We really enjoyed this property. They have a nice dock to tie up your boat and had plenty of sleeping room. It is a duplex type home though, so there were other guests right next door that you share the deck and dock with. But it didn’t bother us and we had a great time!
We enjoyed our time on Grand Lake - fishing, swimming and renting a wave runner and boat at a nearby marina. The property was clean, well stocked with pretty much all we needed and owner was helpful and responsive. Thanks for having us!
Overall, we had a great stay at Craig's place. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and willing to help WAY more than he had to. The location is right on the lake, which is nice if you're bringing/renting a boat. I was surprised to find out that the place was actually a duplex, but Craig called beforehand to make sure we were aware. The duplex must have thick walls because we never had any issues hearing our neighbors! Each party has their own, large deck too.
We really enjoyed this property. Our daughters brought a couple of friends and we had a ball. Thanks for letting us into your home.
