About this property
The Okra Inn Iberville-6BR, 3.5BA, Streetcar In Sight
The Space
The Okra Inn is a historic camelback cottage in the vibrant Mid City area, within sight of the Canal Streetcar line. The Inn features 11 foot ceilings throughout, original pocket doors, beautiful crown molding, two living rooms, two dining rooms, three and a half bathrooms, a front porch, back balcony, back patio and our own blend of artsy charm. The house contains two kitchens stocked with cooking basics.
The decor strives to be a cozy, funky version of classic New Orleans, with kitsch alongside original art, elegance alongside a feeling of homey comfort. We want the house to be clean and pleasant, but without a sense that guests should be afraid to touch anything.
We strive to be pet-friendly, though we ask that you inquire before booking if you are planning to bring pets.
Living area includes: * 2 living rooms * 2 dining rooms * 2 kitchens * 6 bedrooms * 4 bedrooms with Queen beds (all upstairs) * 1 bedroom with a Full (Double) bed (downstairs) * 1 bedroom with two Twin beds (downstairs) * 1 full size futon in one of the living rooms (with pocket doors for optional privacy) * 3 full bathrooms and one half bathroom * Closets in all of the bedrooms * Ceiling fans * Wireless Internet * Central AC * Two televisions * The kitchens are equipped with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, glassware and other kitchen and cooking basics, as well as salt/pepper, oil and spices * 2 coffee makers (drip) * 2 refrigerators, 2 ovens/stoves, 2 dishwashers * 2 microwaves and toasters * 1 blender
THE NEIGHBORHOOD Mid-City is one of New Orleans' most lively and eclectic neighborhoods, and a great home base for exploring the city. We're just a short walk from the streetcar, which makes getting to the French Quarter and Central Business District easy. Uptown, Tremé, the Lakefront, and other neighborhoods are also within easy reach.
And there's plenty to explore right here. Within about 1.5 miles you'll find dozens of locally owned restaurants and bars, including Parkway Bakery & Tavern, multiple music venues and coffee shops, City Park, the New Orleans Museum of Art and Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Bayou St. John, Café du Monde, Angelo Brocato's, grocery stores and specialty markets, kayak and paddle boat rentals, swimming pools, and some of New Orleans' famous above-ground cemeteries.
Come hungry, curious, and ready to explore. Y'all are going to love Mid-City!
PARKING We do not have off street parking at the house. Street parking is available and generally very easy to find for free. It also includes a parking lot across the street with 15ish spots open to the public for free. * We are around the corner from several restaurants, so parking from 6-8 on weekends is a little harder. But even then, you should expect to find a space within a block or two of the house.
GETTING AROUND We are located one block from a major streetcar stop, which is then a 15 minute ride to The French Quarter and Central Business District. We are a 5 minute ride to City Park (or 20 minute walk), and a 5 minute ride to New Orleans' famous above ground cemeteries. Blue Bikes offers bicycle-sharing that allows for pickup and drop-off throughout the city. Uber and Lyft operate in New Orleans as well as traditional taxis. And if you really want the fun way to get around, you can always hire a party bus...
HOUSE RULES AND IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE
We do allow pets at our discretion. However, please inquire before booking if you are planning to bring a pet.
Please inquire before booking if your group is a bachelor(ette) party. While we are happy to host these groups, we ask that they do not have any party events in the house, and that decoration is kept to a minimum.
Firearms are strictly prohibited. Active duty military and law enforcement officers may contact us at the time of booking regarding possible exceptions to this policy. Any exceptions will be granted at our sole discretion.
Smoking is not allowed in the house but is allowed on front and back porches.

We do not allow any outside guests to stay past these hours. In general, please ask before your stay if you are planning on hosting any sort of gathering.
We do not allow guests to use grills or other open flames, for safety reasons.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.
