BEAUTIFUL ROMANTIC OLD STONE HOUSE, SEA VIEW, PRICACY

THE HOUSE
In one of the quietest places on the Peloponnese, in the gentle hills near Gythion, our house is in all silence. There is an olive grove, there are almond, citrus, orange and fig trees, which you can freely pick.
The house can accommodate 4 people. There are two bedrooms with a double bed each. There is a spacious bathroom. There is a washing machine and dishwasher and an oven.
There are lounge benches on the terrace where you can sunbathe during the day and watch the stars in the evening.
You can have breakfast in the first sunlight on the spacious balcony. You have a view of the sea and the bare mountains of the Mani.
The old robust house that is called the monastery by its high rooms was restored in 2007 with a sense of detail. The kitchen and bathroom are designed by a designer and exude an atmosphere that matches the robust house. The location is soothing and magnificent and very private.

GYTHION
Less than 5 minutes drive and you are in the lively fishing village of Gythion, where you can choose from various restaurants and terraces.
There is a marina there.

BEACHES
There is a large sandy beach five minutes away. But there are also many small beaches in the area where hardly anyone comes.
In the afternoon there is often a little wind, ideal for surfing and kite surfing.

LIST
In the house there is a list with recommendations for restaurants, for beaches, for wonderful walks in the Taigetos mountains, for beautiful trips in the area. Bed linen and towels are provided, bring your own beach towels!

HIKING
From the house you can make all the walks you want. There are no fences anywhere, you can go anywhere!
There are also beautiful walks to make in the Taigetos mountains, hiking maps available.

WEATHER
From April to the end of November it is wonderful weather. Sometimes it can give summer temperatures in December and January, 25 degrees.

INTERNET
There is limited internet available. That means, you can pick up and send your mail and a few things that do not consume too much data.

THE JOURNEY
If you want to come by car, you can take the boat from Italy, we always go from Ancona to Patras. Do you want to fly? We usually fly to Athens, usually with Transavia, rent a car and drive to our house in 3 hours. A beautiful ride through the beautiful empty landscape of the Peloponnese

Disappointing - would not recommend for summer visit

This property is extremely remote and primitive. Zero cellular service or WiFi. A couple of old fans did not suffice for summer heat. Be prepared for many insects - ants in the kitchen, wasps on the terrace, and moths inside at night. No screens on windows, and toilets do not accept toilet tissue. Stove is a camping stove. If you want to go “glamping,” this spot is for you, but avoid summertime.

Our beautiful old stone House is a Greek house on an amazing spot at the countryside nearby the sea. If you are in love with the Greek style (pictures), you will love our house. To the Greek style belongs no toiletpaper in the toilet. Our fans are new, and in front of the windows we have shutters to keep the heat out. The house is a private house, we live there ourselves and we love every inch of it. Inside and outside. The reaction of our guest seems to us a cultural reaction: America versus Greece. Two extreme opposite. It was a mismatch. Our guest didn't want a house on the countryside, she preferred a hotel in the city. Which is of course okay. It's a question of lifestyle and we respect that fully. About the Wifi. In the description of the house is written that there is no wifi. 4 of 5 G works perfect. If you like quiet and beautiful surroundings to rest and read and simply relax our house is perfect place. Welcome.

Selling a "village house" experience as an excuse for house shortfalls

I wanted to take the time and give some feedback for the house. I have grown up in the area (Monemvasia) and have a home there as well. The house is very nice but I would like to give some constructive feedback based on the price (which is very expensive compared to much nicer hotels / homes in the area) and the comments the host has made in the past of this being a “village” home and that you should expect certain discomforts and I agree with that comment. However, with that said I would strongly recommend the host to spend a few of their earnings to fix a couple of major issues that would give their guests the missing link. 1. The smell in the house is not how a village home should be smelling — I think the host needs to clean the fireplace and air the house. This has to be fixed. 2. House needs two AC units one upstairs and one downstairs. 3. Wwndows / door screens are a must for mosquitoes etc. 4. Again just trying to help here. Host needs to hire a landscaper and have them come out once a month to maintain the outside of the house. Yes it’s the village but it does not mean that the host would not take care of it.

Sometimes a guest is better off in an all inclusive resort. Our house is an romantic old house, with a fireplace and outside on the terrace a beautiful old grape that gives an amazing shadow, if you're not sensitive for this greek charms, you have chosen the wrong house. We have very good fans instead of airco, it's a choice, it's something that's written in the prescription of the house. We restored this house with love, it's a personal house with a personal taste and touch. What you see on the pictures is what you get. Look at them carefully I would say, and if you like our atmosphere you are more then welcome.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but with a few comments: Whilst it worked extremely well for two people, I think that if we had brought friends then the privacy of the bathroom & the size/quality of the lower bedroom could have been difficult. As previously mentioned in a previous review, it might be worth investing in fly screens on the doors & windows. At the end of October the temperature was perfect & we loved our stay

Wir hatten eine wunderschöne Zeit in diesem Haus. Es liegt ganz einsam, aber doch nur 5 Autominuten von Gythio entfernt, ist super ausgestattet und sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet.

Un endroit charmant

Une maison décorée avec goût et sobriété tout en étant très fonctionnelle . La région est magnifique : coins insolites eau tantôt turquoise tantôt émeraude et de très bonnes tavernes toujours très propres. Les grecs sont accueillants . Bref on y reviendra avec grand plaisir !!

Wunderschönes Haus mitten in der Natur

Irmas Haus ist wunderschön, mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet und mit allen wichtigen Dingen ausgestattet, inkl. Salz/Pfeffer/Essig/Öl/WC Papier/Handseife etc. Der Außenbereich ist genial, die Terrasse hat 3 verschiedene Bereiche, sodass man immer Schatten haben kann. Es gibt eine Außendusche und einen kleinen Garten, in dem man sogar Obst pflücken kann. Das Haus liegt allein direkt am Hügel zwischen Olivenhainen. Für eine 4 köpfige Familie ist das Haus ideal, das eine Schlafzimmer ist jedoch nur über die Terrasse zugänglich, sodass kleine Kinder nachts nicht alleine zu den Eltern oder auf Toilette gehen können. Für 2 Paare würde ich das Haus eher nicht empfehlen, da es sehr hellhörig ist und wenig Privatsphäre bietet (keine richtige Tür zum Bad).

Une maison charmante dans la nature

Gytheio Une maison magnifique, pleine de charme en pleine nature. Un endroit idéal pour se retrouver entre famille ou amis proches (il n'y a pas de véritable isolement). Nous avons loué la maison au mois d'août et la maison est très difficilement habitable à cause de la chaleur, mele en prenant ded précautions et en fermant le jour les volets, etc. La maison est excessivement chaude malgré les ventilateurs. Je comprends la volonté d'avoir une maison un peu plus naturelle, mais un entretien est tout de même nécessaire (cueillir les raisins dans le jardin pour eviter les guêpes par exemple). Enfin, du fait de la chaleur et du soleil d'août, il faut laisser couler l'eau très longtemps avant que celle-ci soit froide... énormément de gaspillage. L'architecture de la maison, la décoration simple et soignée et la propreté en font une destination de rêve...mais pas en août.

Sehr gemütliches und schönes Haus für einen relaxten Urlaub

Wir haben unseren Urlaub im geschmackvoll renovierten Steinhaus sehr genossen! Die Kombination aus Tradition und teils modernem Interior hat uns sehr gefallen! Die Einrichtung ließ nichts zu wünschen übrig, alles, was man brauchte, war vorhanden. Vor allem die großzügige Terrasse mit mehreren schattigen Ebenen und Sitzgelegenheiten entwickelte sich zum ständig genutzten "Familienhit". Der Ausblick ist phantastisch und die Fahrt in den Ort und zu diversen Stränden nur kurz. Abwicklung und Schlüsselübergabe hat bestens geklappt - kann diese Ferienunterkunft nur empfehlen! Herzlichen Dank an die Vermieter!

Für uns war es großartig!

Das Haus liegt etwa fünf bis sieben Autominuten von Githio entfernt. Am besten, man lässt sein Sportauto zu Hause, da die letzten Meter zum Haus holprig sind. Das Haus steht völlig abgelegen und ruhig. Es vermittelt durch die Deckenhöhe ein herrliches Raumgefühl. Die Einrichtung ist geschmackvoll. In der brauchbaren Küche kann man auch mal selbst den Kochlöffel in die Hand nehmen. Großer Kühlschrank mit Gefrierfach, Spülmaschine, Gasherd und Backofen sind vorhanden. Das Meer ist nicht zu Fuß erreichbar aber der Blick aus dem Haus auf die umliegenden Berge und das Meer ist fantastisch. Am Abend ein Glas Weißwein auf dem Balkon. Einfach Klasse! Die Einweisung ins Haus erfolgt durch eine freundliche Kontaktperson von Githio aus. Das Haus hat keine eigene Adresse. Nehmen Sie ein Mittel zur Abwehr von Steckmücken mit!

Tranquil House Overlooking the Sea

We had a marvelous 1-week stay just outside Gythion in a most tranquil setting with a view of the Aegean Sea. The house is tastefully outfitted and had all the necessary equipment we needed. We especially enjoyed sleeping at night with a warm breeze passing over us from windows at the foot and head of our bed looking up at the sky filled with stars. In the morning we had our coffee on the terrace off the bedroom overlooking the mountains and distant sea. We spent a number of days just lounging around the lovely, comfortable terraces that surround the house, and we also explored the neighboring towns and more distant Mani, which is definitely worth a visit. Specifically with explored picturesque Aeropli, had a fantastic seafood dinner in Lemeni(at Kourmas), and traveled to the south of the Mani peninsula where we toured the caves at Pirgos Dirou and then had lunch at a taverna in Vathia. The scenery of the Mani is just stupendous and not so difficult to drive - only takes a few hours. Gythion is great little town to explore with lots of tavernas - but I must say we fell in love with Baba Sideris and the gracious owner - Taki - and eat 4 meals here. The beaches south of Gythion are lovely - we loved Skoutari, but were restricted from swimming later in the week because of a record rain storm on Sept 6 that fouled the beaches with debris. Lastly we would like to thank Irma for welcoming us into her lovely home. We hope to return some day in the future.

Mooie plek om tot rust te komen

Onze eerste indruk van de foto's op Homeaway was: wauw, wat een super mooie plek! De werkelijkheid komt daar dicht bij in de buurt. Het is een heerlijk huis om te verblijven en tot rust te komen. Het huis is ruim opgezet, zonder te veel poespas, met buiten mooie terrassen en balkons om te zitten. Je hebt een geweldig uitzicht, dat tot aan de zee strekt. Om je heen gebeurt weinig tot niets, op de nodige ijverige wespen na dan. De plek ligt afgelegen en dat betekent een avontuurlijk weggetje erheen (het blijft overigens maar 5 minuten rijden tot aan Gythio). De foto's op de site laten een goed beeld van de woning zien, al verdienen sommige foto's wel een update en zouden extra foto's van de badkamer niet misstaan. De badkamer is prima, ware het niet dat de afvoer tijdens ons verblijf nogal haperde en de douchekop wat te veel weggestopt zit in een hoekje vergeleken met de grootte van de ruimte. Laatste minpuntje is dat we Wifi zouden hebben, maar die bleek in de praktijk zeer minimaal en de verhuurder gaf tijdens ons verblijf aan dat ze hiermee wilde stoppen. Het is van hieruit goed tripjes ondernemen naar bijvoorbeeld Mani Binnen, Mystras en Monemvasia. All in all zeker een aanrader!

Traumhaus trifft zu!

Das Haus ist ein Traumhaus! Die Bilder geben einen guten Eindruck wieder und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Lage ist sehr schön, etwas abseits in den Bergen und sehr ruhig mit einem wunderbaren Blick. Es gibt keine unmittelbaren Nachbarn. Das Haus ist mit viel Liebe und sehr geschmackvoll ausgebaut worden. Jeder Raum hat eine sehr schöne Ausstrahlung und auch im Außenbereich gibt es viele verschieden Plätze zum Wohlfühlen. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet mit allem was man benötigt, man merkt das das Haus auch privat genutzt wird, denn es gibt nicht nur die klassischen Kochuntensilien eines Ferienhauses. Es gibt keinen Elektro-Herd, sondern eine 3-Flammen Gas- Kochplatte. Das Haus ist individuell, es gibt keine klassischen Schränke für die Kleidung, man muss etwas improvisieren, das war für uns allerdings gar kein Problem! Wir haben eine wunderbare Zeit in dem Haus verlebt und möchten unbedingt wiederkommen!
