Two bedrooms: - 1 bedroom downstairs with a queen sized bed. -1 cozy upstairs loft bedroom with a queen sized bed. There are stairs going to the upstairs. (See pics). If someone is staying upstairs and they need to use the bathroom all through the night, they will have to come down the stairs to do so. The bathroom is on the ground floor. House is most comfortable for no more than 4 guests. Full kitchen with all appliances and utensils for meals. Full bath with rain head shower. Lofty ceilings There is a large, flat screen "smart TV" which is mainly used for dvd viewing. There is a fun selection of DVD’s but there is no cable tv. Some views of the Davis Mountains from the property and from upstairs. Courtyard with distant mountain views and a fun small soaking tub (this is a handmade, “cowboy”, rustic outdoor tub with both hot and cold water.) Comfy chairs inside can be moved outside for wonderful star viewing.
The historic Paisano Hotel, Marfa Book Company and galleries in the center of town are a 3 minute drive away, though many guests enjoy walking to downtown, about 20 minutes. Several fun restaurants are walking distance, less than 5 blocks away.
A few minute's walk from the Cemetery Merced at the end of the street, Convenience West BBQ and The Water Stop. That area is high on the western edge of town, a nice place to watch the sunset, with nice views of the ranch lands and plenty of distant mountains. The railroad runs though Marfa. You will see the train from the house back yard and from upstairs. Please read what every other homeowner in Marfa has written about the train. It is the reason there is a town in the middle of the desert.

Had an amazing time! Loved the house during the stay in the off season in Marfa. It was definitely home away from home for the weekend! Came back to Austin refreshed!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The decor is great, the amenities were nice and the location is perfect.

Very cute and loved the art! Will definitely stay again!
Loved the rustic modern design of this home! Feels like staying in the coolest folk art gallery. Loved all the pieces and the handmade furniture and architecture. We were there during a snow and ice storm in late January and we stayed toasty warm with the heaters in each room. The owner was very kind making sure all was good. Want to go back one day when there isn’t an ice storm!
It was great to stay in this historic property. It has been nicely rebuilt and re-furbished. Fitted us perfectly for our stay in Marfa

An absolutely charming house for a fantastic stay in West Texas!
Terry's house is charming and cozy; the perfect place to base yourself from to explore Marfa and Big Bend. While the house is small, the layout worked great and had such a sense of spaciousness.

It's always a pleasure to have nice guests stay in my house. Guests who appreciate and take care of the place and leave it in excellent condition upon departure. They are very much welcome to come back at any time for another visit and anyone considering renting to them should do so without hesitation.
Greatly appreciated.
Looks like the pictures and the host was helpful and responsive. We had everything we needed. The location is about a mile from downtown Marfa and easy to walk to if needed.

Great little comforted stop in Marfa.I wasn't aware of it being right next to the cemetery so it through off my young daughter. The comfortable furniture and luxurious linens brings a cozy homey feel to this historical property full if unique features.
Beautiful property. We felt like we were in an art installation! Love this place. Would come back. Great bed too.

Robert was a great guest. He was timely with all his email correspondence and took great care of my house during his visit.
Any VRBO host would be fortunate to have him as a renter. He's welcome back at any time in the future.
Beautiful little home on the edge of town that has been curated with years of art work and other finds creating a special place to stay in the desert of West Texas. Terry has put a lot of time into making sure the home offers a unique experience in Marfa. Would definitely stay here again.
Terry built this home with his own hands. Much of the furniture and art was also built/created by him. We were very impressed with the house, and level of communication from the host. Would definitely stay here again!
Such a great experience! We loved the house and the patio had a perfect view of sunsets. Terry was incredibly helpful and responsive. Will definitely be back!
I'm really glad you had time to enjoy the quiet of Marfa and for taking such good care of the house. Please do return for another visit soon.

Paula was the perfect guest. She was quick to respond to emails and texts, took great care of the house while visiting and would certainly be welcomed back at any time.
Wonderfully decorated and juat enough space for our time together this week. The patio are with all the wonderful local plants was a nice touch at the end of our day to enjoy the cool evening air and watch the stars above. The housr had all the basic essentials we needed. Very pleasant stay overall. We look forward to our return back to the area.
Basics: well-appointed, very clean, comfortable and user friendly (information and expectations clearly posted). The owner obviously put a lot of heart and thought into this property. Everywhere you look there is something you didn’t see before. Minimalist but felt like a cocoon. And the light….Vibe: this what you go to Marfa for. Pull the trigger on renting this property. You won’t regret it.

An creative compound close to town, but with room to breathe
We really enjoyed staying in this beautiful property. There were thoughtful details throughout - we loved the chef's kitchen and outdoor courtyard in particular. The house had loads of cool character but was also efficient with good ACs, fans & lighting. We particularly liked being on the edge of town. It was more relaxing than being in town, with better views. And, tacos were still super close with Mando's right down the street! We'll be back!

So glad you enjoyed your stay at the house, Sarah. It's always great when someone takes such great care of the place, notices the details of the house, enjoys the setting, and takes time out of their day to let others know via their well-composed review.
This, as well as your extremely prompt email and text replies, are all testament to an A-class visitor, one whom any home owner should welcome immediately.
Please do return for another visit if you get the chance.

Great stay in Marfa
We stayed here for a couple of days in March over Spring Break. It's perfect for our family of 4: 2 adults, 2 children 9 and 13. The property is well put together with cozy accommodations, like a little nest! The décor is thoughtful and personal, great art pieces to ponder while you are there! The location is just on the edge of town, but even with that it's no more than a 2-3 minute drive to the main street with shops and restaurants. The kitchen is well supplied, though we ate out while we were there. The only caution I would give is that it's probably not best suited for small children given the loft accommodation.

About the host
Hosted by Terry Nowell
I bought an adobe ruin in Marfa in 1997 after locating the run-down shell of a house with the help of some friends. I've worked on it for quite a few years attempting to make it into a super comfy retreat at the edge of town in Marfa.
Why they chose this property
At the very edge of town, yet walkable to some restaurants, dirt roads behind the house, along the railroad and into a nearby historic cemetery. This rustic adobe artist's space allows you to experience the real feel of West Texas in an extremely comfortable dwelling.
What makes this property unique
Nicely equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, very unique handmade house. We try to keep Big Bend coffee in the house for your use unless you are there for an extended stay. The house is in a real, very safe Marfa neighborhood that has older and less manicured adobe homes, a cemetery at the end of the street and is "rustically" West Texas.
