About this property

APHROULA'S HOUSE; A family home in a quiet, beautiful corner of Greece.

Aphroula's House is a modern and very comfortable and well equipped property set in a beautiful and quiet location at the back of the village of Milina. Upstairs there is a double bed Apartment with a large open plan kitchen/sitting/dining area. The kitchen has a full sized oven with 4 rings, fridge, washing machine, kettle, toaster and coffee maker, and a full range of cutlery, crockery and glassware. The sitting room also has a large and comfortable sofa-bed. There is a music centre with CD player, FM radio and Bluetooth, so that you can stream music from your phone or tablet. The shaded veranda in front of the apartment has views through the trees, down the valley and out to sea, and has a marble dining table and two sun loungers. The Apartment has ceiling fans, and an air-conditioner.

Behind the house the hills, covered with olive trees, climb steeply to the village of Lafkos. The lane stops here at the house, so there is no passing traffic... it's very peaceful.

The Studio downstairs has twin beds, with space for a third, folding, bed, a kitchen corner with sink, fridge, kettle, toaster and coffee-maker, while outside in a covered area there is a second sink, a small electric oven and rings, and a barbecue. The terrace in front of the studio leads down to an attractive flower and shrub garden and beyond to a productive vegetable garden. The Studio too has an outside marble table, and two sun loungers, and like the Apartment has a ceiling fan and air conditioning.

Aphroula's House is perfect for a family holiday with the parents upstairs, and the children with their own space, downstairs. As the stairwell itself is fully within the building, the effect is of a normal two-storey house. Equally, the house is very suitable for two couples holidaying together, and finally both Apartment and Studio can be let entirely independently.

Note that since the pictures were taken the trees have grown considerably, but the views are still there.

Our Village: Milina is the largest of the seaside villages here in South Pelion - though that is not saying much, with an electoral register of only some 800 souls. However, we have a good grocery and provisions store, two butchers, two bakers, two souvenir shops, and a couple of shops selling 'summer things' - beach shoes, sun hats, and buckets and spades, etc - and a chemist. And along the waterfront there is a really good selection of tavernas specialising in traditional Greek dishes. There are several souvlaki joints, a pizza palace, and several bars and cafes all with the sea just a metre or so away. Finally the beaches. The sea here in the Gulf of Volos is normally quiet, calm and warm, and as the beaches don't shelve, and there are no rocks or currents, it is ideal for children.

I'm Tim, and with me in the photo is my wife Aphroula. I'm English and Aphroula is Greek. We came to Pelion with our two very young daughters more than 40 years ago, and set up a tour operating company bringing visitors to south Pelion from England, France, Germany, America and Australia. We ran Houses of Pelion until we retired in 2012, and in 2001 completed Aphroula's House, designed specifically to cater for our guests - and by then we really felt that we knew what people wanted from their holiday accommodation. We are looking forward to welcoming you to beautiful South Pelion, to Milina, and to Aphroula's House!
