About this property
Homley Cottage in pretty Devon village, great location for walks & birdwatching!
Jacketts is an old cob farmhouse in a fantastic location on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Otterton that lies between Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton. Now divided into two cottages Jacketts 2 makes a deceptively spacious and well appointed home away from home. It has a delightful Conservatory, ideal for those lazy breakfasts while the combined sitting/dinning has an Inglenook with modern gas log burner to warm any chilly nights. There is a brand new kitchen with an induction cooktop & electric oven. The freezer is a good size so you can stock up with locally delivered “Cook” meals if you want a rest from cooking. Clearing up is made easy with the dishwasher. Upstairs the double bedroom has a lovely antique solid oak bed originally from Fineshade Abby and a modern semi ensuite shower room. The twin bedroom has its own charm with more antique furniture. For a candle lit bath or the practicality of bathing the children the bonus of a downstairs bathroom gives that added flexibility. The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the East Devon coast with fantastic local walks along the cliffs and nearby river while for the children there is everything from sandy beaches to adventure parks. Cyclists & birdwatchers will love the countryside surrounding this delightful Cottage. This is picture postcard country and the ideal holiday home!
Eating out: The nearest place to eat out is just a few hundred yards away at Otterton Mill. This a working mill where you can see the grain being milled before buying the freshly baked bread or other local delights. The mill has an excellent licenced restaurant for lunch or afternoon tea, as well as a gallery and gift shop where the hidden talent of some of our local artists can be seen. The local pub is also very good but in the next village of East Budleigh there are two excellent pubs for food. In nearby Sidmouth there are a variety of modern wine bars, great restaurants and several old traditional pubs to choose from. Tearooms for the essential 'Devon cream tea' are too numerous to mention and in Budleigh Salterton you can find some of the best Ice cream in Devon.

The host was helpful and welcoming. The cottage was beautiful, exactly as described and pictured. It was warm and welcoming, staying there was an utter delight.
The cottage was cosy and warm and provided absolutely everything needed for our short but very nice stay. The location was fantastic and the village itself had lots of history which was well documented through information provided by the host.
We loved how convenient the cottage is for walks along the River Otter and South West Coast path. Very friendly community shop for all basic needs. We enjoyed being able to sit in the small courtyard garden.

Spacious cosy cottage with great charm. Everything you could need. Beautiful surrounding area close to countryside and seaside with excellent walks. Only problem we had was trying to obtain the key safe number. We were sent extensive directions to get to the property and it would have been good if that had the key safe number included.

Thank you Mark for your 5* review & Im so pleased you enjoyed Jacketts & the surrounding countryside.
I was so surprised to hear you had problems getting the key code. I normally send the email that contains the code about 6 days before your arrival. I just checked & it was definitely sent on the 16th so I can only presume it went to spam & was missed. The key box usually works well & as a backup I do try to provide the details of my neighbours who are all very helpful.
Hopefully you will join the list of returning guests & we will see you again at Jacketts.
Kind regards Mundi
The cottage is well situated for walking, cycling and visiting local nature reserves. It is comfortable and well- equipped.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Loadsa room for the two of us, all-round comfortable, beautiful sunny conservatory, and situated in a lovely village - would definitely stay again. Only downsides were we could've done with more than the small milk and choc biscuits as welcome pack - key, keypad didn't work and neighbour opposite rescued us after an hour trying to get in - no obvious contact number found. Otherwise excellent.
The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Loved the garden room and the outside courtyard. Otterton is an excellent location for visiting the surrounding areas with lots of good walks and reliable bus services. Access to the off-road parking space is quite tight especially with the number of parked cars on the road. Would love to visit again.
This cottage suited our needs perfectly. We especially like the small conservatory where we could simply sit and relax in the quiet. There was the added bonus of a heatwave.
Really good location in Otterton with great walks to Otterton Mill and Budleigh Salterton Beach. The cottage was warm, homely and a comfy place to unwind after a busy day exploring. Plenty of room for two people and nice courtyard at the back. The only little bit of feedback would be that the upstairs loo could do with a freshen up/redecorate. All the other rooms had a lovely cottge feel and felt fresh.
