Casa Iguana includes complimentary breakfast preparation from Monday to Saturday. The cost of groceries and shopping fees are additional. Professional cleaning service is included 6 days per week. Beach towels and purified water are also included.

Casa Iguana is located on the oceanfront between Akumal Bay Beach and Half Moon Bay Beach. The heart of Akumal, Akumal Bay is located an easy ten-minute stroll from the property. Here you will find great restaurants, boutiques, and dive shops. The beach of Akumal is soft white sand and is an excellent place to sunbathe and swim. Especially for those with younger children!

A quick walk in the other direction (north) will take you to La Buena Vida Restaurant and the beach of Half Moon Bay. Half Moon Bay is known for its excellent snorkeling. This is a great place to see coral and tropical fish.

Casa Iguana is situated on a large lot that has two separate structures: the main two-bedroom home and the adjacent two-bedroom casita. The most wonderful features of Casa Iguana are the outdoor living and dining areas, a swimming pool, a play area for volleyball, and an oceanfront palapa with hammocks. This is the perfect spot for taking in this amazing place.

General Layout:
Casa Iguana's main house features marble floors, granite countertops, and two ocean-view terraces. The main house has two bedrooms. The master suite, located on the upper level, is furnished with a king bed and is air-conditioned. The master suite also enjoys a private ocean view terrace furnished with a table and chairs. The guest bedroom on the main level is furnished with two twin beds, which can be converted to a king-size bed (specialized frame and connection kit for a seamless fit). This bedroom is also air-conditioned.

Also on the main level are the fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The living area on the upper level is furnished with a TV, DVD player, and Stereo System, and also contains a double futon for extra sleeping. There is wireless internet throughout the property.

The Casita, which is just to the rear of the main house, enjoys the amenities of the main house, including a Smart TV, and WIFI. The Casita includes a private living area, a large and fully equipped kitchen, and two air-conditioned bedrooms. The first guest bedroom (accessed from the living area) is furnished with two double beds, and the second bedroom (accessed from the first bedroom, or by way of its own private exterior door) with one double and one single bed. The two bathrooms have also been updated with marble and natural stone. Just outside of the Casita is a large outdoor sitting and dining area. A nice retreat at the end of the day!

Casa Iguana also offers a charcoal BBQ grill, outdoor serving area and sink, and adjacent patios with dining seating for up to 12.

Casa Iguana also has a large gated driveway, which affords plenty of secure off-street parking, or can also be used as a great dining/party venue for weddings and special events.

Everything was amazing! Deysi and Freddy were so sweet and helpful. The property was stunningly beautiful. So many lovely areas to chill in. Watching the storms on the sea from the hammocks at night was magical. Walking south along the shore from the house you can come to the beach from the side and avoid much of the tourist hassle. A decent amount of tasty restaurants and good activities within walking distance, although that was a sweaty endeavor in late August. The stinky mounds of seaweed were unpleasant, but my group still had no problem finding ways to make hanging out in and by the water enjoyable. I would definitely recommend Casa Iguana!

Great location and amazing staff!

Our entire family enjoyed their stay at Casa Iguana. Daniel and Alicia were very nice and welcoming. The weather was perfect and the house was perfectly located, within walking distance from local restaurants, the Yal-Ku lagoon, and the Dive center. We enjoyed Daniel's cooking and also took advantage of the kitchen to prep a few meals ourselves. We spent a lot of time in the pool, adults and toddlers alike while cataloging all of the iguanas living on the property. We look forward to visiting Akumal again in the future.

Second Stay = 5 Stars

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Iguana, the first was 5 years ago. The property is just as nice as the first time and the location is perfect for both privacy or walking to town. Daniel the on site care taker has been there for a very long time and is always very helpful. Daniel made dinner for us 4 nights and the food is just as good or better than any restaurant we have found. I am sure this will not be out last stay at Casa Iguana.

Amazing week!

The property was well kept. It was a nice surprise that housekeeping came daily as part of the rental price. The cook, Danny prepared the most fabulous meals each night. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well and overall the property was a great fit for a large group or family with young adults needing a little of their own space. The only draw back is lack of direct beach access right from the house, it is very rocky directly from the property but beach access is just a few minutes away.

Enjoyed our stay at Casa Iguana,

Daniel and Alessia were wonderful hosts making our stay quite comfortable. Daniel and his son cooked fajitas for our dinner one evening and even made margaritas. The beds were comfortable with air conditioning units in each bedroom. The only thing we missed was a nice beach. The beach behind the house is rough rocky terrain all the way to the water, so it is not good for hanging out. Loved the pool and everything else about the property. The house is located in a small community in Akumal within walking distance of several restaurants and shops. Definitely a good value for the money.

Perfect Family House in Akumal

Our family of 9 had the best time at Casa Iguana. Communication ahead of time and while we were there was fantastic. The house and the casita were the perfect fit for my family. Two primary bedrooms in the main house and two rooms in the casita so we could split the boys and girls up. Daniel (the caretaker/cook) and Patty (the house cleaner/cook) were incredible. They really added so much to our trip. The breakfast they made every morning was so good. And Daniel cooked us dinner one night (highly recommend!). They became a part of our family and even came out to eat with us one night. The house is in such a great spot in Akumal. You can walk to La Buena vida, Jungla, La Lunita, the Beach, the shops, Taverna, and everything else you need in Akumal Beach. Thank you for everything!

Perfect Spring Break

We were a group of 9 people, 4 adults and 5 kids and the property worked out great. It is in a safe area, close to several restaurants. We went to La Buena Vida 5 times and also really enjoyed a dinner at the Taverna. Also visited the Turtle Cafe several times. Highly recommend all 3 of them. Manuel was very helpful, he prepared breakfast and cooked a delicious dinner for us. He also helped us with arrangements for a day trip to Tilum and the cenotes. The kids played in the sand volleyball court and the iguanas were an attraction. We felt safe. The property is beautiful and I would return in a heart beat. Covid testing was easy - there was a small, walk-in testing place in town. I think we paid $30 per person and got results within 2 hours.

Fantastic!!

Every year my family of 12 (6 adults/6 kids) picks a different place to meet & enjoy time together. This year we picked Casa Iguana in Akumal & it was our best location to date! Casa Iguana is a short walk to Akumal Bay & Half Moon Bay and if you just feel like relaxing, you can lounge by the pool or in the hammocks overlooking the ocean. There are places to be in the sun, or the shade & the air conditioning throughout the casita & main house kept us cool while inside. One of the most pleasant surprises was Daniel. If you stay here you MUST have him cook for you. Yes, it is convenient, but most importantly, he is an amazing chef & will treat you to the most delicious meals you will have during your entire stay in Akumal. He is also an invaluable source of information & not only helped us find a fishing boat/guide, he helped clean & cook the fish that we caught. Additionally, Alicia worked every day to keep Casa Iguana clean and in order. Our entire reservation from start to finish was straight forward & easy. Every question I had (& I had many) was answered quickly & thoroughly by the staff at Akumal Direct Reservations. If I could give Casa Iguana more than 5 stars, I would!

Amazing secluded beach getaway!

Communication was top notch! We got in late, around 9 pm and the manager Daniel was there with a smile and ready to make guacamole and drinks. The property was large, clean, beautiful, and conveniently located near beaches and businesses- ALL while being extremely private and secure. I recommend a car as there is A LOT to see and do between Cancun and Tulum. Akumal is right in the center. A beautiful grocery store Chedrauli (like Target) was right off main freeway 9 min up the road. Tulum was 30 min south and Playa del Carmen was 30 min North. We took the ferry from Playa to Cozumel for the day and snorkeled all day. There is a secret Tulum beach with a bar and chairs called appropriately, Beach Club Bar - $5 a chair and white sand, excellent food, sun and shade- the best. There are Cenotes everywhere. The best restaurants in Akumal to the right of the property(5 min walk) La Buena Vida and to the left (10 min walk) Turtle Bay Cafe and the Pizzeria ( high end pizza,pasta, wine, etc. Daniel and Alicia take care of the house and will help set up tours, meals, and keep the property a perfect 10 at all times! Having hammocks overlooking the ocean, your own pool, outdoor eating, and plenty of indoor space made this family trip so special. Can't wait to return!!

Beautiful Grounds in a Perfect Location

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Akumal Direct did an excellent job accommodating our group of 9. When we found out that the original place we booked was overrun with sargassum, they were quick to find us other options. We ended up at Casa Iguana and it was perfect. The grounds look just like they are pictured. Our group loved the pool, the volleyball area, the palapa and the outdoor table to eat at. Daniel made us several meals and helped us tremendously with a few things we needed help with. The couch and chair in the casitas really does need to be replaced since they kept a beach towel over the back of the couch to cover up the wear and tear. It's pretty faded, torn and very uncomfortable to sit on. Other than that, everything else was very nice. The location was perfect and so close to restaurants and the Akumal Dive Shop. We rented golf carts so it was very easy to get around the town. The house does not have beach access but we were able to get to the beach at the Akumal Dive Shop very easily. The pool was beautiful and always clean. The furniture around the pool was in excellent condition. We especially loved the palapa and the hammocks in the evening. Honestly, what made this rental so wonderful was Daniel. Upon our arrival (We got in around 10:30pm) Daniel had ingredients to make us guacamole and it was amazing! He and Patricia (house keeper) made us an amazing breakfast one morning and then we had Daniel make us dinner one night. His wife made us homemade corn tortillas. It was enough food for us to eat another night. Daniel set up a fishing trip for our guys and helped get us transportation to Xelha when our other fell through. All in all, we had a fabulous time in Akumal and at Casa Iguana.

A most wonderful stay - Feb. 8-22, 2020

What an amazing trip! We absolutely LOVED our stay at Casa Iguana! We can't thank Daniel enough for all of his delicious meals and snacks (especially the guacamole...yum!), for organizing golf carts and a fishing trip, his helpful advice and information, his patient Spanish lessons and just being so darned accommodating. Thank you Daniel, you are a lovely man!! We had rented a car, but with the easy and convenient walkability of Casa Iguana's location, and having Daniel always happily willing to arrange transportation for us, we found it to be an unnecessary expense. The nearby beaches, numerous restaurants with delicious food offerings, shops and groceries stores are all within very easy walking distance. Extremely convenient! Never for a moment did we feel unsafe in Casa Iguana or Akumal. Casa Iguana has it's own security (thank you to them for their long nights keeping watch) and we found the people of Akumal so friendly! Another big thank you to Alicia for keeping the house and casita so clean - we loved being greeted by her big, beautiful smile every morning. The house and casita were perfect for our group of 7. We loved the outdoor space - especially the large outdoor table for family game nights and morning coffee. We enjoyed spending time by the pool & relaxing in the hammocks by the ocean. Casa Iguana was perfect for us

The property includes 2 separate little houses (casitas) with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a kitchen in each one. This worked well for us because we had two families with children and bedtimes were different. There was plenty of space and no difficulty with sleep patterns. The kitchen in the principal house could use a new stove and the sofa in the casita should be recovered in a fabric that does not absorb humidity. I would also recommend more towel racks for hanging wet towels inside. These were very minor issues. The grounds were stunning and that is most important because in a place like Akumal you want to be outside as much as possible. There were two outdoor eating spaces where all ten of us ate most of our meals. The grill didn't work, but we didn't feel like going to all that effort anyway. The pool was about 6 steps up, so the little ones were slowed down a little and we felt that was safer. The palapa overlooking the ocean and the starry nights was a wonderful place to meditate, have a happy hour, or watch the sunrise. In between the pool and the palapa was a volleyball space which the kids loved for playing with their toys and running around. The property was enclosed by a nice wall and gate which we were also thankful for because the children couldn't run into the road and it cut down on road noise immensely. We felt quite contained and secure. Dani and Patti were available anytime and were great cooks and problem solvers.

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We certainly had a good time and the location and property lot is quite good as we come to this area every year. We spent a lot of time in the pool area which is quite sizable and modern.The main house is very clean and well maintained. It would be better if there was a larger common area in the house. The 2nd villa out back is in serious need of update or replacement. All three thatch roofs are currently covered with tarps and you can still see holes in some areas of the roof and even some cracks in the walls let light in. It smelled musty there were some bugs in there too. It could be a great space with serious refresh. The step into the kitchen for this space is a hazard.There were a couple occasions where strangers walked through the property from the beach, so private property signs are needed. I should not have to go out to the far roofed area by the water and ask someone why are they there.The staff was quite nice and the meals were good made by Danny. For the price and what was available when we booked it was adequate at best. It has potential with more updates, but my group would not rebook here until there were updates.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had reservations at Casa Iguana the week after hurricane Beryl came through. We were assured the house was not damaged. After our flight landed in Cancun, I was informed by Scott from Akumal Direct Reservations that Casa Iguana lost power and they were moving us to Azul Riviera. They updated our transportation and we had a seamless arrival after a grocery store stop (highly recommended going to the big grocery store on the way to Akumal as the grocery stores in Akumal are small). Azul Riviera was wonderful - private pool and backyard had a private entrance to the Ya-Zul Lagoon (no need to pay entrance fee). We snorkeled there daily. Miguel was so kind! My boys LOVED the loft beds. The bedrooms are air-conditioned. Highly recommend asking Akumal Direct Reservations for a golf cart rental so you can get into town. Unfortunately, we lost power on the afternoon of our last day. I informed Scott and he was great in giving us updates. After a few hours and no sign of power coming back on, he offered us the original house as it had power now (Casa Iguana). We put our luggage on the golf cart and made it to Casa Iguana at dusk. Daniel welcomed us and gave us a tour. We only were there for the night, but it was stunning. The private driveway/courtyard area is peaceful and the pool was a hit with the kids. The view of the ocean was amazing. There are 2 casitas that are both fully air conditioned. Wifi only works in one though. I wish we had more time to enjoy Casa Iguana!!! If we only had stayed here, I would have still rented a golf cart as my kids might not have enjoyed the hot walk back from town in July (hot!!). Our transportation through Akumal Direct Reservations was on time. So overall the company was great adjusting our stay - thank you Scott! Both locations were fantastic and truly memorable. Both Miguel and Daniel (and their wives) are fantastic and take amazing care of the properties. Thank you for taking such great care of us!

Ein perfekter Aufenthalt in Akumal!

Wir hatten das große Vergnügen, unseren Urlaub in einem wunderschönen Ferienhaus in Akumal zu verbringen, und können nur schwärmen! Das Haus selbst war sauber, geräumig und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen erholsamen Aufenthalt braucht. Aber was diesen Aufenthalt wirklich unvergesslich gemacht hat, war die außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft von Daniel. Daniel war von Anfang an immer zur Stelle und hat sich rund um die Uhr um all unsere Anliegen gekümmert. Egal, ob es um die Buchung von Touren, die Organisation von Transfers oder einfach nur um Restaurant- und Strandtipps ging – Daniel hatte immer die besten Empfehlungen parat. Er hat uns sogar geholfen, ein Taxi zu finden, wann immer wir eines brauchten, und hat uns stets mit einem freundlichen Lächeln empfangen. Seine Hilfsbereitschaft und sein Engagement, unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, haben uns wirklich beeindruckt. Wir fühlten uns von Anfang an wie zu Hause und konnten uns vollkommen entspannen, weil wir wussten, dass Daniel sich um alles kümmern würde. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus und den großartigen Service von Daniel jedem empfehlen, der einen entspannten und sorglosen Urlaub in Akumal verbringen möchte. Vielen Dank, Daniel, für all deine Hilfe und für die unvergessliche Zeit, die wir hier erleben durften! Wir kommen definitiv wieder!
