SURFRIDER Penthouse, our (approx) 300sq ft studio is located on the 3rd (top) floor of a triplex. Steps from your front door sits the famous Windansea Beach with sweeping beautiful Ocean Views from your private balcony and at night and early morning hear the waves crashing.

Enjoy your morning coffee with amazing views of the ocean and at the end of the day cook dinner on the gas BBQ and enjoy the bar height seating area to catch the sunsets and the best weather California has to offer.

1 Parking space area available for exclusive use and will accommodate a small compact vehicle, making parking at the beach very easy. (there is offstreet parking available in front of the building for larger vehicles) Access to the studio is in the back by your parking space, up an outside spiral staircase.

If you are combining the upper two bedroom with the studio, which makes 3bdrm/3ba two story accommodation, then you can use the indoor stairway between the two floors. (Access is locked and restricted when booked separately.)

Our quaint and comfortable studio can sleep 2 adults , 1-2 small children but we recommend it for 2 people due to the overall size. There is a queen size bed , full pullout sofa in front of the kitchenette.

Kitchenette includes:
Blender, Coffee maker/Keurig coffee maker, Cookware, Dishware, Flatware, Microwave, Toaster Oven, Refrigerator, 2 Portable burners

1 full bathroom with Shower/tub combo.
Patio has bar height seating area and BBQ to enjoy the amazing views and sunsets.

Also provided in the garage is the free, shared laundry facilities - shared with Surfrider 1 and Surfrider 2

You will find a host of beach equipment including beach towels, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and beach toys.
Pac n Play available on request.

Windansea Beach has some great restaurants, bakeries and unique eateries just minutes walk from your front door.

Enjoy the Farmers Market every Sunday morning with lots of fresh, organic foods and hosts of crafts.

This studio can be combined with the 2 bdrm/2bath condo just below it for a 3bdrm/3ba two story condo. Or rent all three units to sleep 10 - 18 people.

Perfect for a young couple, spiral staircase is narrow and steep, not for everyone. But the view is fantastic and great location. Suggestion, remove rusted out table at front door, poor first impression upon arrival and at any in/out during stay. We also swept and removed cobwebs at front door/landing, as that had not been done in awhile. “Curb appeal” at entrance was the only miss.

Great Stay!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Janine and Chuck were quick to respond to a cable issue we had when we got there and was fixed in no time. The place had everything we needed and the bed was so comfortable that we stayed in it a lot!

Gorgeous view and great location!

The private balcony ocean view was more than I imagined. Very comfortable bed and perfect accommodations for our four night stay. Walkable to coffee, dining, and the beach just steps away. Quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little place with a fantastic location

Very nice place for two. Easy to get to anything you need. We will book again. If you want to cook I would rent one of their larger units. For us we ate in town and enjoyed every minute of it.

Nice location. But the winding stairs are tough!

The space is nice and reasonably clean. We were comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and responsive. But the winding staircase is extremely difficult to walk, especially if you're carrying a suitcase.

Simple with a beautiful view

Wonderful location and amenities for those looking for a getaway. We enjoyed the ocean sounds every morning and traffic noise is very light. All basic amenities provided and we where able to cook simple meals and slept well. Neighborhood is welcoming and everything you need is within walking distance. Would definitely stay again.

Perfect Stay in La Jolla

I greatly enjoyed my stay here. Perfect location, with a block's walk to Windansea Beach and an amazing view on this penthouse's deck. Pretty quiet neighborhood so I could fall asleep to the soothing ocean waves. Also, restaurant recommendations provided by the owners were spot on. Would definitely stay here again.

Great place for a couples’ getaway

We had a great time. The location was amazing and it’s not nearly as crowded as the main beaches. Very quiet at night and close to core La Jolla and Pacific Beach for restaurants. About a 25-30 minute drive into downtown so still accessible to other parts of town. The penthouse had plenty of room for 2 and we were able to fit a small SUV in the parking spot. Janine was very proactive in communicating us details to check in. Would highly recommend!

Christmas in Southern California

The property was as described. Good ocean view, close to restaurants, clean, everything worked well. we appreciate the details like luggage racks and laundry baskets. Note that the spiral staircase is 25 steps and difficult to get baggage up and down. Also, the parking lot is small and require some maneuvering to get into even with a Nissan Altima. There is street parking. Would recommend this place.

Wonderful

My husband and I were so pleased with our stay here. Our studio apartment was clean and had all we needed. We ate breakfast and lunch on the balcony with a fabulous view of ocean. It was a 3 minute walk to the beach. The Wind and Cave Beach was so spectacular. The neighborhood was quiet. We had a space for our car rental. Our hosts Janine and Chuck were beyond helpful and friendly. I hope to return with other family to occupy the lower units too.

Great communications and location

Great communications - Janine gave me early access to the studio which was terrific because I had an early morning flight arrival. She was very quick to respond to a couple questions I had and very quickly sorted out a minor problem. The view from the balcony was lovely and the building is literally steps from the beach, and the sea breezes and the sound of the ocean are lovely. As other reviewers noted, the spiral stairs are a bit tricky to navigate with luggage. also worth noting that the only table to work at or eat on is the outdoor high-top - not ideal for working or having a meal. During my stay there was construction in the building across the street and also 2 doors down - and workers start early and worked through the weekend - not within the owners control of course.

Perfect Getaway

Stunning view of the ocean at Windandsea Beach. I am a widow who traveled alone from the. Virginia coast to visit my son. It was the perfect amount of space for me and to have him visit for dinner and cocktails on the balcony. Im not sure it would be fair to the owners to crowd this small space with more than two guests. Janine was very accommodating to me. I cant thank her enough for her hospitality. I strongly suggest that you pack light or use a duffle type suitcase to manage the small spiral entrance steps. That worked well for me as the steps are narrow. Be mindful of the guests beneath you. There are guests staying in two units below you. Water temperature and pressure were great. I could go on. My only hope is that I can get to stay there again. Many thanks to Janine and Chuck for the opportunity to stay in your home. All the best.
